Hi everyone!
I’m about to begin my naturalization paperwork, and will file under the 3 year rule. My husband and I have been on health insurance together since I moved here, but it would be better financially for him to start coverage under a company plan, and for me to stay with the old one.
I’m sure that’s not uncommon, but we don’t yet own a house, and our cars are owned by one of us each, not together. Should we stay on an insurance plan together to help with naturalization, or will changing this not likely have a significant impact on my case?
Thanks for your help!

Agree with including living wills and poa. My husband and I created them right before sending out our petition. I was worried that might look fabricated but we recently got approved, and it’s a relief to know we have them now.
The only other thing I could think of adding is pet adoption/vet papers if you have one.

Hmm I have a photocopy of my GC in my purse. I only take the original with me when I travel. Do I need to change this?

Just saw my approval email!
I’m a Vermont filer, no rfe no transfer, EAC 18233... on the old website my status read as “at this time we cannot provide you with information..” until card produced.
I sent them a huge packet with lots of “weaker” evidences such as vet bills in both our names because we don’t have children, don’t use a shared credit card, and our joint account is only used for monthly transfers, so I almost expected an rfe.
Best of luck to everyone still waiting, and thank you so much for all your help!

I found a second statement on the Washington post site,
“USCIS officials said the policy will not be applied retroactively to those who have used benefits in the past; it will apply only to those who receive taxpayer-funded benefits after the rule takes effect in mid-October....Other types of public benefits will be excluded from consideration, USCIS officials said, including student loans, school-based programs such Head Start, and Medicaid for minors and pregnant women.”
-
I can’t find a definite statement that Fafsa is part of the new rule. This website says pell grants and other forms of educational assistance are not. Can’t find anything official 😕 this is scary.
“The rule does not include Pell Grants and other forms of educational assistance among the types of benefits that immigrants will be penalized for receiving. But higher education groups previously expressed concern that confusion over the question of what benefits would and would not count against them would discourage some immigrant students from applying for Pell or other federal financial aid.”

Has anybody gotten this message on the old USCIS website before? I check my account once a day, today it says "It was reported to us that your IP address or internet gateway has been locked out for a select period of time. This is due to an unusually high rate of use...."
Same thing when I log in to my account on the old site.

Which case tracker do you use?

Sounds like tsa is ok with it. Just in case you could bring a copy of your marriage certificate to show the name change.

I will most likely file for citizenship this July. Just like you said MoroccanEscape, we also just want to be through with this process.

Sagt mal, was habt ihr alles so übersetzen lassen?

We will send our package within the next week or two :) Our window opened a week ago and we felt rushed to get send everything in asap, but finally decided to take some more time and make sure everything is done as well as we can.

Hello awesome VJ users!
For some very much needed peace of mind with the ROC process I thought I’d share my list of evidence to hopefully receive some feedback. We plan to send out our packet soon, but could probably acquire additional evidence if we forgot something.
We made sure that whenever possible, this evidence covers the entire time frame of our marriage and shows both names, start dates etc.
Thank you SO much for your help! This community has helped us more than anything through this process.
Shared residence
1. Copy of leases for our old and new address
2. Copies of rent checks for every month since we got married from joint account
3. Photocopies of our IDs showing the same address
4. Letter from our current landlord to USCIS
5. Copies of BGE bills, 1 per quarter
6. Mails addressed to us with showing the same address
Shared liabilities/memberships
7. Photocopies of Health insurance cards
8. Copies of Health insurance Explanation of benefits, 1 per quarter
9. Copy or our gym membership contract signed by both of us
10. Letter from Geico showing we are on the same policy and start date
11. Letter from Geico listing me as driver of his vehicle
12. Geico bills, 1 per quarter
13. Letter from pet insurance showing both names and start date
14. Vet bills showing both of us as owners, 2 per year
15. Photocopies of our AAA membership cards
16. Letter from AAA showing we are on the same policy & start date
16. MPOAs
Shared finances
17. Copies of our joint checking account cards and copies of statements, 1 per quarter
18. Letter from bank stating when we opened the account (right after marriage)
19. Joint tax returns for 2016 and 2017 including W2s and K1s
20. IRS transcript for 2016 and letters of IRS correspondence for 2017 taxes
21. His life insurance showing me as beneficiary
Proof of shared life
22. Lots of photos, including instagram and facebook screenshots
23. Cards from friends addressing both of us
24. 3 notarized affidavits
25. Copy of wedding band receipt and some payment statements
26. Copies of boarding passes for a couple trips we took together, plus his passport stamps
QUESTIONS
1. I am aware that we don’t have a lot to show for shared finances :/ I am unable to get a credit card with him because I don’t yet have a credit score as I go to school at the moment. We tried to compensate for this by including lots of other evidence, will this be okay? Is there anything absolutely unnecessary in this packet, or missing?
2. I know we could get me on the title of his car but it would show the last minute date and cost $200. Should we still do this for a possible RFE?
3. Our IDs are very new because we realized we never changed the addresses on our old ones. Obviously the old address was joint too, so I thought I would include copies of both sets of IDs and a short explanation, to not raise any red flags for the recent date on the new IDs. What do you think?
4. We live with my brother in law as roommate, should I explain why we can't yet afford to live in our own house?

Hi,
I moved to the US with a K1 visa two years ago, and now hold a green card (conditions have NOT yet been removed in case that matters).
I am looking to go to school for Massage Therapy. Hubby and I are considering different ways to finance this. My question: Am I able to accept Financial Aid? I vaguely remember signing something in the visa process that stated I was not allowed any government financial help. Does this apply to financial aid/student loans etc?
I am very sorry if this topic already exists and would greatly appreciate a link
Thank You!

Also am besten nochmal nachfragen

Zur Frage "How did he propose to you" habe ich zB "at the beach on (date)" geantwortet, und er fragte dann "what beach?"

Volunteer for Political Campaign??

Hi everyone,
As a legal permanent resident, can I volunteer for a political campaign for the upcoming presidential election? I find conflicting advice when googling this question. There seems to be a volunteer exemption but it is vague.
Thanks!
