NOVATO (CBS SF) — After George Lucas ran into a buzzsaw of opposition from his wealthy Marin County neighbors when he tried to expand his Skywalker Ranch studio, the filmmaker might be getting some payback with plans for one of the largest affordable housing projects in the Bay Area.
Lucas, the Star Wars creator is offering his own property in west Marin County off Lucas Valley Road near Novato for the project, with plans for a community of 224 homes right where neighbors said no to his studio expansion.
“He said ‘we’ve got enough millionaires here. What we need is some houses for regular working people,’” Lucas’ lawyer Gary Giacomini said.
Lucas says he will pay for the project himself.
“George Lucas said, ‘if I’m not going to do what I wanted to do there, what can I do that would be really beneficial to this community?’” Marin County Supervisor Steve Kinsey said.
Prior to selling Lucas Film to Disney, the San Anselmo resident attempted to develop the land as production studios, but he abandoned that idea in 2012 based on opposition from neighbors.

I don't see how anyone can call Dr. Carson an idiot. He's clearly accomplished too much in life to be called that.
What he is.. is an extremist. A very smart one, which would make him dangerous in any other country but in this country one can not win with mere rhetoric and force of personality/persuasion. One needs the support and the funds of that other class of person as well - the corporate person. The corporate person, such as it is, wants nothing to do with Dr. Carson and that is the reason why he has no chance. None.

I was going for fear.

He's in the dust right now. He's never getting out until the corporate persons start feeling comfortable with him, which would require a degree of moderation.
That's a key difference between traditional, carbon-based persons like you or I and corporate persons. We can be influenced by emotional appears based on fear and hate. They can't. They're all about the dollar bill and people simply spend more when they're happy and at peace in their homes and communities.
Corporate personhood is going to turn out to be a great counter to the negativity inherent in carbon-based persons.
