Depending on what your husband makes and that you file for AOS so that you are a resident you might be eligible for this http://www.state.nj.us/humanservices/dmahs/clients/medicaid/pregnant/

I live in Michigan where it's called MOMS Medicaid and I got that when I was pregnant. I had my temporary green card at the time though.

FYI, in case some of us are worried about travelling without having completed their biometrics, this is what a January filler found out:

"When the Biometrics appointment letter (with barcode) is generated and sent to the petitioner, If the petitioner happens to be our of country, You can come for your Biometrics (with appointment letter in hand), within an 89-day window past your appointment date.
We were told that nothing is done to a petitioner's application, just because the biometrics appointment is missed, UNTIL 90 DAYS PAST THE APPOINTMENT DATE".

    Hope that helps!

Sara_1982 got a reaction from Gemma in Work for a company in your home country. Help and tips needed.
    Hi,
Sorry if this is the wrong forum. Please move if needed.
I hope somebody can help or give me some pointers in the right direction.
I've been living in the States, Michigan, for a year and a half now. I have my 2 year conditional green card.
I've just got hired by a company from my home country Sweden. I will be working from home in the beginning and I'm so far the only "American" employee.
What I'm asking is if anyone would know the best way to go about this?
How they should pay my salary, taxes etc. Can I get a 401k, health insurance?
How would be the best way for the company to act?
Hire an accounting firm here in the States who will take care of all of this?
Could they in that case also recommend 401k and health insurance?
They should probably follow American employee regulations and policies, how would they know these?
This is a dream job for me and really want to be sure that everything is done the right way and that I'm able to get as many benefits as possible.
Would really appreciate any help I can get! Thanks you!
    Sara

It might even be so that you will be paying taxes in the US...after reading a bit
I'm very interested in what you will come up with through your research...seems there are many laws here... immigration and tax laws and some conflict...and also will depend on your status...
Maybe someone gone though the same will see this and have better tips... but I am now unsure about my first answer on where you will tax. Good luck! And sorry to not be of more help!

This might not be an answer to this thread but I feel like everybody just jump on people who don't have joint bank accounts. I understand that it's a trust thing and a big thing but me and my husband have a very bonafide marriage but I (the beneficiary) would never put him on my bank account. He is a recovering drug addict and no matter how much I love him and trust him I would never even give him the option... His salary goes to my account so I guess that would be a trust thing that we have decided between us. I am the one taking care of all the financials. There's a lot of other proofs you can collect for ROC and I will be doing this as well since I will be there within the next year. Insurances, cars, utility bills, power of medical attorney, etc... Hopefully this will be enough... I know every case is different but if they deny me because we don't have joint bank accounts... Well then I guess we will be moving to Sweden... I wish you very good luck on your journey!
