    Hi guys.

I will be a late April filer. I am preparing everything and planning on sending my I-751 next week latest. My question is, my green card expires 07/28/2017, will I be late to send it??? And what happens if I don't receive my greencard before my conditional one expires?

One last question, what office is mine if I am living in Florida Miami?

    Thanks 😉

    Hi,

I believe your earliest filing will be 04/29/2017 based on the filing date calculator https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/dateCalculator.html. It should also be within the 90 days period of your green card expiration date.

You will receive an extension letter for one year once you filed your I-751.

You will be filing at CSC office since you're from Florida - https://www.uscis.gov/i-751

    MIDDLE NAME CHANGE:

So the general consensus seems to be that she can use her new last name on the I485,,,

    BUT

She wants to change her middle name as well.   Maiden name becomes new middle name.

Anybody dealt with that before as well?

    Hi,

Yes. I changed my middle name. For ex, My name is Stephanie Myers Walters then my husband's last name is Greere so I did changed it to Stephanie Walters Greere. I did that when I applied my AOS and was successful on it until now that I'm applying for ROC. Hope this helps.

    Hi VJ friends,

Just want to know if anyone here received this kind of letter from USCIS? I know there is nothing to worry about but I'm just curious since no one here mention this kind of letter?

Any feedback and comments is highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I never received this letter reminder and I'm aware of this but I still filed my RoC within the 90 days period of my GC card expiration date. Probably because I changed my address. Just not sure if they send it to my old address though but I did filed AR-11 back then. It's good that you have this.

Where's a good place or service to have my Philippine pesos exchanged to US dollars, for an amount that comes out at around $4000, without much fuss?

Asked a couple of banks (BDO, BPI), and they both require creating an account for this purpose. That's overkill just to have my money changed, IMO.

Replies would be much appreciated :)

    Hi,

The malls have Forex services such as SM malls and Landmark. Maybe you could try that one. I know there's a lot of money changers around Makati area too. Try Sanry's Money changer along Makati area, they said it's a good one too. Look at the review on this link - https://en.yelp.com.ph/biz/sanrys-money-changer-makati. Regards.

    Hi sweet01,

Thanks for your reply! You mentioned in your answer to my first question, that a block number or lot number is common in the Philippines. Is the format of the block/lot number that I provided standard in the Philippines? I am surprised of the @ and the (B), because I couldn't find any other address with either. I appreciate you providing the links. The nearbyph.com link was one of the first links I used before joining this site, since I found answers on the format of a Philippines address. The address could not be found on that site, nor on Google Maps, not with the 9155@(B) part.

I should have disclosed I am not sending documents to the church; the person I am trying to send documents to has a reputation for lying and giving false information with no basis, but says this is their new address... I suppose I could call the church and ask, since it's practically going to be next door or nearby.

The Wikipedia link was very helpful and answered my question. Thank you so much!

You're welcome. I see, yes, you can give them a call if I were you. Block and lot number is standard in most addresses but not all like commercial stores or condos. A sample block and lot number is like this ; Block 2 Lot 4 , it will specify the number.

    Hello,

I am a paralegal and am trying to send some documents to the Philippines. I have the general idea of how the format of the address should be, but the address provided to me is confusing. Apparently this is the address of the Mendez United Methodist Church:

9155@(B) JP Rizal Street, Galicia III

    Mendez-Nunez, Cavite, Philippines

    So my questions are:

    1) What does the 9155@(B) mean?

    2) Is this the correct format?

    3) Is "GALICIA III" a city?

    4) What is a Barangay, and does/should this address have one?

    Thank you in advance...

    Hi,

    I'm from Cavite before I came here in the US  so my address is almost the same format except the 9155@ (B). You can check the address here https://nearbyph.com/pages/mendez-united-methodist-church/102479 or give them an email to be sure.  So here's my answer to your questions below;

    1. What does the 9155@(B) mean? - this could be a block number or lot number of the church. This is common in the Philippines

    2. Is this the correct format?  - All is correct  except the 9155@(B) . Maybe this is the block number and lot number of the church. you can ask

    3. Is "GALICIA III" a city?  - It can be a part of the Barangay. check this link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mendez,_Cavite

    4. What is a Barangay, and does/should this address have one? - Barangay is a Filipino term of village, and yes, this should have 1.

Hey guys, Please my interview is next month and i am so nervous. Your different experiences and advise is highly needed, please don't just read this post and pass. I know its a long post and can be an hassle to respond.

First of, hubby is estranged from his family, he has no siblings so it was just the two of us that went too the court house for the marriage as my own family is not here, we plan on doing something with my family later on.

-- this is okay as long as you both have the marriage license and certificate you should be fine. My husband doesn't have any family too during the time of our marriage. We did celebrate it like a year after when all went well with his family.

Secondly, it was a huge hassle doing anything without an ssn, so the list below is all i am taking to the interview. When i read how a lot of people carry boxes of paperwork for their interview it makes me really nervous. My EAD just got approved and i haven't even received it yet.

This is the list of documentations I would be taking to the interview.

    Utility bill
    Joint accounts
    Family plan Phone bill
    Facebook congratulatory messages
Letter and card from family in Nigeria
Very Long history of WhatsApp correspondences between my Husband and I. The messages alone should be enough to convince the IO that our marriage is real, cos we mostly communicate via whatsapp.
Pictures(No wedding pictures) This makes me nervous too. -- pictures before marriage you can bring that too and honeymoon/trips pics together
    Letters from pastor, and friends.
A lot of other things we could not do jointly because I do not have an SSN.

    - you can have a notarized sworn affidavit from pastor and 2 friends with you.

    - Pictures with church mates and friends with the two of you.

    - gym membership or store rewards if possible

Also the interview letter has a list of documents we should bring.

Which one is a completed affidavit of support (form i-864) with all required evidence, including the following for each of your sponsor.

All documentation establishing your eligibility for lawful permanent resident status.

Birt certificates of all children of this marriage(we do not have kids together  yet but my spouse has 2 kids) but what do they mean by custody papers for your children and for your spouse children not living with you.

-- maybe someone here regarding having kids from previous rel can answer this

Lastly would it help if my lawyer goes with me, as far as i am concerned i only paid the lawyer to post my documents, cos he doesn't really help and makes it seem like i bother him, now he is going to charge me an additional 375 dollars if i want him there, so i am thinking do their presence really add any value?

-- We hired  a lawyer during my K1 or fiance visa and my package was returned since he placed a correct amount on the check. I think you're good if it's just the two of you in my opinion.

P.S any one interview in Chicago office before? How was it?

    Hi,

I went through your list (please see red fonts above). It looks good but I also made some suggestions. As long as your marriage is real, you should be fine. Our interview was in Arizona and we really did dressed professionally (I wore white long sleeve, pencil cut skirt and blazer, hubby  wore long sleeves and slacks and blazer). It means you're serious with this and as form of respect to the Immigration Officer. Our officer asked us about our entire love story and family like how me two meet and where, family members, our plans, dates you need to remember too. Hope this helps. Regards.

    Hello,

Yes my daughter is born here (US). Reporting your childs birth to Phil. Govt. is not really required its a matter of personal choice. My thought is, since my child is a dual citizen by birth she has the priviledge to aquire citizenship to both countries (USA & PHIL.). In my own opinion it's better to report your childs birth to phil. consulate at least the child can stay for as long as he/she can and live in the philippines with no problem.

Again this is my own opinion.

    Thank you

Thanks again Aila. ? Really appreciate your thoughts. We were kind of debating about it as well but thanks for sharing your journey. I believe this is helpful to us esp. parents of US citizens children. :)

  9. Hi Aila,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with your child. Based on what you shared, I understand that your child was born here in the US but went back to the Phils and stayed there for quite sometime. You also did the dual citizenship with your child. I'm wondering now If do I really need to report my child's birth in the Phil consulate since I gave birth July last year? ( I'm still on ROC process via conditional PR) Do I need to make my child a dual citizen? My husband and I were also discussing about it since he just chose to be a US citizen. I'm not sure and really thinking about the dual citizenship and what are the benefits aside from staying long in the Philippines and own a house. Can you give me advice? Thank you. Would really appreciate it.

We filed for ROC in February 2016.  At that point I had already filed my taxes for 2015 and even received our tax refund.  I had the IRS tax transcripts for 2014 and 2013 which is what I sent with the ROC package.  I did not even try and or wait for the IRS tax transcript for 2015 and did not have any RFEs or any issues with approval.  We were approved almost one year to the day after submission.  Hope Vermont is catching up with the piles of work and your approval will not take that long.

    God bless

    John

Thanks again John. I know, I read the slow processing in Vermont which is sad to say, where I'll file. I'm preparing for it. I filed my AOS in MSC before since we lived in Arizona and it's fast. ?

    my two cents:

Make sure everything you are sending covers the entire period of your marriage to date of sending in ROC paperwork.  I read most people sent in bank statements for the two year period.  We went to our credit union and had them draft a letter showing when my wife was put on my account.  We also had them put the balance of all our accounts (checking, saving, money market, IRA, etc).  The letter included the person's name, title, and a statement that said if there were any questions to contact her at the credit union.  Mind you this is a huge credit union.  After we got married we looked for a new church to join.  We had the church draft a letter that said when we both joined, what Sunday school we attend, and also sent the annual tithe statement we use for our tax deduction.  I might have missed this in your post but make sure your tax returns are the IRS tax transcript (not a copy of your tax return).

    God bless

    John

Hi John, read your advice. What if in our case, we just filed our taxes, and it is time for me to file my ROC( within 90 days) , do I have to wait for IRS tax transcript before sending our ROC package? I have the copy of turbo tax though plus the tracking that they received it but still not seen online. Thanks.

    Hi Everyone,

First off Happy Filing and Good luck to everyone while they wait to hear some good news :).

I sent off my I-751 Application to Remove Conditions from my Green Card on March, 4th, 2017 to the California Service Office. My GS expires in May, does anyone know if i will receive a letter extending my status for 1 year, or is that on a case by case basis?

    Thanks,

Hi OP. Yes, I believe everyone will receive an extension letter for one year based on other threads but the problem I read lies on when will you get it  since we have different service centers. They said CSC, your center, is quite fast unlike ours, VSC which is slow on processing.

So yes, this is to confirm that they do call spouses/petitioners. We are living proof! Lol

Thanks for sharing ? Wow, it is real! I should tell my husband about this. We don't usually take any phone calls that's not on our contact list haha ? Thanks again and congrats!

    Thank you Sweet,

So do I go to the Philippine Consulate here in Los Angeles for further information?

    Hi Justin,

Yes, your wife needs to go to the Philippine Consulate in LA as personal appearance is required. Before going there, you and your wife can see this link first regarding renewal of passport - http://www.philippineconsulatela.org/consular-services-2/passport/applicant-for-renewal

    Regards.

  17. 15 hours ago, Justin Jamandre said:

    Btw one more question.

When awaiting the A.O.S, is it a requirement to renew the Philippine Passport?

    Hi Justin,

For me personally, it's good to renew the Philippine passport because you'll never know when your wife needs it. (ex. I had an emergency back home in Manila and had to get my recent passport in a short span of time). It is also a form of identification on her while she's on AOS. I say this based on my experience. If you'll be interviewed, the consul might ask for a recent passport as what happened to us during my interview, the consul asked for recent copies of some of my documents, it's good to be prepared. Hope this helps.
