We included two notarized affidavits from my in-laws that attended our wedding. We also live with them, so we used the affidavits to explain our living situation (and lack of rental agreement, public utility bills, etc.)

    Hello everyone,
So I'm in the U.S. now and the wedding took place on Friday. Believe or not, the CBP officer in Montreal did not enter my complete first name on my I-94 and now I have to get that sorted out before I proceed with my AOS...
Anyways it's been a whirlwind and I'm thankful for the community here. I hope this thread has been helpful, or at least has shed some light on what possibly could happen with an expired petition and a very uncooperative CBP agent. Although none of this should have happened to begin with, I hope that the steps I took to resolve this situation can help someone else in the future should it happen to him/her. To recap what I did:
    - Contacted the consulate that issued my visa in the most direct manner possible
    - Went in person to have my visa reissued and my package resealed (another option I was given was to mail my documents in)
    - Left out of a different POE
    - Filed a congressional complaint

heatheve got a reaction from ZKT in CBP corrected name on I-94, still not updated in SAVE
    Hello,
I entered as a K-1 last Friday. On my I-94, my first name was entered incorrectly. I contacted a CBP Deferred Inspection site and they were able to fix it and now when I retrieve up my I-94, my first name appears to be correct. The officer that did my name change said in the email: "We corrected your first name in our non-public accessible data base, but this may not reflect the public data base you have access to." I assumed that was the SAVE database.
This morning I went into the SSA to apply for a SS card and the lady processing my application was able to find me in the database (which I'm assuming is SAVE), however my name change did not appear on their end - my incorrect name is still present. My question is, does it take a couple of days for a name change to cascade across diferent federal databases?
I contacted the CBP site that dealt with my name change, asked specifically if my name was updated in the SAVE-AVSI database, and the officer responded with: "The SSI may need to choose a different database to verify your information, I don't recognize the one you mentioned."
Should I contact SAVE.HELP@dhs.gov for help?
    Thanks.

NinjaMax, the Montreal consulate from my experience answers emails quickly so it wouldn't hurt to try. To be honest, it shouldn't have been an issue but it was for me unfortunately.
CanadianYinzer, I agree when he told me that it annoyed me too. But I am glad to hear that things went well with you.
Now for another update, I'm currently at YUL waiting for flight 1 of 2 tonight. I went through the Nexus line and informed the agent I was activating a K1 visa, then handed over my passport, Nexus card, U.S. customs declaration card, and the sealed envelope. He walked me to secondary where another CBP agent went through my documents. I was asked to take a seat and 10-15 minutes later I was given my passport back without any hassle or questioning.

    Hello everyone,
I returned to the Montreal consulate at noon and received a new sealed envelope and a reissued visa. They made the petition/NOA2 expiry and visa expiry dates match, and now they are both shown as expiring on 04FEB2016. While they did not offer much sympathy, they said I did nothing wrong on my end and nor did they. The person I briefly spoke to said they "can't predict how the CBP officers at the border will interpret things."
My fiancé already contacted his congressman about this (he actually emailed him yesterday morning before we received a response from the Montreal consulate). It's still aggravating that I had to spend a great sum of time, money and energy all because of a CBP officer who had a "cold heart" (as his coworker jokingly said when I was denied entry at YYZ).
Now the next thing on my plate is making sure I can catch my connecting flight out of Chicago this evening. Hopefully there will not be any flight delays, but who knows it is O'Hare after all...
Anyways I understand that many of the repliers on this thread are confused, and so was I when I was told I was being denied for having an expired NOA2/petition. The Montreal Consulate said they did nothing wrong on their end, and I did my research beforehand on people entering with K-1's with expired petitions. Who knows. I just got very unlucky and I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future.
Thanks to everyone who gave us words of encouragement and sympathy. We truly appreciate it.

    Hello everyone!
Thank you for all your kind words, support, and advice. I'm here with an update of what I've done so far.
I emailed Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov last night about the issue and provided a copy of my passport photo page and K1 visa. They responded at 9:30AM this morning saying I could mail back my envelope for re-sealing or return to Montreal in person. I informed them I would come in person tomorrow morning to get it re-sealed because I have my wedding to attend to on Friday.
Soon after I booked a bus ticket to Montreal and after 7.5 hours on the road, I've finally arrived! I was able to rearrange the flight I missed with American Airlines last night to one leaving out of Montreal tomorrow evening instead so I not only avoid the trip back to Toronto, but potentially another round of the petition/NOA2 expiry vs. visa expiry dates fiasco. Thank you to those to urged me to POE somewhere else, I hope to have better luck out of Montreal.
I'll be at the consulate for 8AM tomorrow. I hope things will work out this time and that no one else here has to suffer what I did.

    Hello Fellow October AOS Filers,
Just a little information, this is my first time posting on the thread but I have been waiting on EAD and Advanced Parole since October 5, 2015, I called today and was able to get a service request for the EAD since it has been at least 75 days.
So if you're still waiting, call USCIS and give them your information and they will open a Service Request, and he explained to me that it just puts a notice to the service center that the 90 days is approaching for your particular case and they will send you an update within 2 weeks. It basically just puts attention to your case and a hopeful expedited approval. I read where someone did a Service Request and got an approval within 4 days. Fingers Crossed!
Just an FYI! Hope it helps!
    Blessings,
    Mrs. Ashley Powell

To those who are concerned over their petition/NOA2 expiry date, just know that is not your K-1 visa expiry. This is just an (unforunate) example of what can go wrong if the CBP officer is being difficult and not knowing the rules. It's evidently a rare case on VJ and I never imagined it could happen to me.
As an update, I mentioned before that the officer at the Montreal airport inputted my first name incorrectly on my I-94 (only typed in half my name). I was able to get it corrected by a CBP Deferred Inspection Site, however they caused another issue for me. Now on my I-94 has a false departure date with no port of entry/exit listed (I am positive that this was created in error since the date of my "departure" matches the date th CBP officer corrected my name. The deferred I dealt with replied with this:
"The record in the CBP internal database is correct; the public I-94 search database appears to be showing a departure (9/28/2105) for some reason, which is nothing to worry about. Your application for converting your K1 visa to resident will not be affected by this issue. The USCIS officer assisting in your application will not be utilizing the public database as the only resource for your travel history. We hope that the name correction we entered has assisted you in obtaining the documents needed, and if you need any further assistance, please let us know."
I will be going to another CBP deferred inspection site later this month tp try getting it removed anyways. I have also made an Infopass apointment just incase that deferred inspection site won't do anything to correct my I-94's travel history. I hope this gets resolved so I can finally get an SSN and a driver's permit. What a ride to say the least.
