  1. Hey good luck!

By the way the officer didn't even ask about my job at all!

And I'm proud of it, I make more than my husband, I own a business...

All what she was asking about was my husband's job (USC)

and most questions were directed at him...

Well I was actually panicking like a month before the interview,

days before I was looking for my EAD card and my SS card

that I haven't found after all at all...

Good luck, things will go well.

Try not to be stressed when you go there

(we weren't) as they see stressed people all the time!

    Anna

  2. a passport or something proving he is the US citizen.

I know a couple, who has been waiting for the positive response for 8 years,

they keep denying them because they cannot prove

he's American - no birth cart, no passport.

    Good luck!

Did you get the RFE when you sent the papaers?

They didn't ask for neither of our certificates at the interview but we have already submitted the copies with our application.

Hope it helps and good luck!

  3. Wow! That's a lot of questions!! But I don't see you mentioning that she was nasty or anything - was she? From the tone of your post it sounds as if she was more thorough than some officers, but if she was not rude or impolite then I guess all we can say is she was doing her job.

And I'm glad to see that your husband's Affidavit of Support was enough and the co-sponsor was let go at the interview!

Congratulations and hope you feel better!

Thanks, thanks and thanks so much guys for responding to my questions about the affidavit, etc.

no, the officer was not nasty at all

but all those questions seemed like an attack.

Anyway it's over, I wasn't expecting what we had, especially after having read all the posts with the subjects like: we shouldn't have worried, a piece of cake, etc...

    Anyway, thanks again,

    Anna

    Congrats!

Our interview was also very stressful with pretty much the same questions. My husband is not good with dates (he could not even remember when he started at his current job!) and interviewer was not impressed with that. So, another interview was requested. Luckily, we got approved a few days later. I have also received my card. I definately was overjoyed that the 2nd interview was not necessary afterall.

Wow, did you have the same officer?

A young woman in her late 20s with an excellent French manicure?

I definitely noticed it as I bite my nails!

    Joe - USC

Well I am sorry if I scare anyone by saying our interview wasn't easy. It was very, very tough and the documents and preparations we put in it were all necessary...

Well we arrived just on time in Newark but we had to wait in line to get there.

After all the searches, etc. in the elevator my body has just said enough and I just simply was about to cry, cry loud, out of stress, everything together... Joe pressed the elevator button and we stopped at the 11th floor bofore going to the 13th just to calm me down.

I just had to get myself together and I did.

We went to the 13th floor, gave our notice and waited. It was crowded.

I started people watching and Joe asked if I had a pen and paper. I gave it to him and he said :"Do you know how to play dots?" Gee I love him! We started playing dots waiting for the interview.

I wasn't stressed about the interview anymore, we were laughing, Joe was winning, he won.

After about 1h 30 min they called my name.

We followed a female officer in her late twenties. We had to swear and then she started her avalanche of questions:

    - describe how you guys met (we met in the street)

    - where was it?

    - were you by yourself, Joe?

    - was Anna by herself?

    - and she just went to a bar with you huh?

    - when was it?

    - have you ever met her parents?

    - have you ever talked to her parents over the phone?

    - what are their names?

    - does she have brothers or sisters?

    - younger or older?

    - have you talked on the phone with him?

    - how did your parents react to the fact you got married, Anna?

    - did you have a big wedding?

    - was the place nice where you got married in Vegas?

    - and you Anna, have you met Joe's family?

    - what's his mom's name?

    - does Joe have any brothers or sisters?

    - does Anna cook any Polish food?

    - do you like it Joe?

    - so Joe, do you speak any Polish?

    - oh so you live in... it's a nice place. do you live close to downtown?

    - what does Joe do for a living, Anna?

    - what's your title, Joe?

    - so you're moving to SF, are you gonna rent or buy a place?

Then she started talking about SF, Cali and how great it is.

    Then some questions followed:

    - when exactly did Joe start working at his new job, Anna?

    - on what visa did Anna come into the States, Joe?

    - where did she go to school? (I have my undergrad and grad degree from the US)

Then she asked us if we had any supporting documents of our relationship.

She said we didn't need our sponsor anymore because we made enough last year.

She asked for Joe's pay stubs.

I gave her a new affidavit, she said she didn't need it but she took it anyway.

    I gave her:

    - our bank checking and saving statements

She looked at them studying places and dates, activity, I think

    - our taxes, plus copies of tax refunds and copies of the tax checks we paid

She was really happy we filed the taxes together, she took the copy.

    - our joint health insurrance - a copy of a card.

It was from Joe's previous job.

She then asked me when was the last time I entered the country.

    It was in April.

She asked me for the advance parole and also asked if I had all the supporting documents I was a student and legal all this time.

Then she asked for EAD cards. There was a problem because I lost my recent one. I had 2 old ones from back when I was at school so I gave them to her. She asked about the most recent one, I said I must have misplaced it. She said "ah, ok."

Then I showed her an album full of pictures. She looked at every single one in details and then went back again and looked at them again asking questions - who? where?, etc.

Then she said she was going to approve the case and stamped my passport, she said it's like a greencard.

She explained about removing of conditions.

I AM JUST GLAD THIS TORTURE IS OVER. I've never heard of a more detailed and draining interview, I wish you guys a better experience!

    With love,

    Anna

  5. I see by your profile that you are doing AOS. We took two sets of photographs to the interview -- ones of our wedding, and ones from different events that showed us with family members and friends. Our interviewer flipped through the second set and barely looked through the first set, but he didn't ask to keep any with the file. And we didn't sign and date the pictures, we were just prepared to answer any questions about them. It's up to you, I guess. :) best wishes for a successful interview!

    Thanks...

Well, I have made an album so they're all together and glued, I have about 7 of the loose ones if they want...

  6. I will hope that you get the same adjudicator we did at the Newark DO. Michael somebody. Young guy. Asked less than 20 questions altogether and didn't look at a single piece of evidence except my husband's medical exam. Took less than 15 minutes from swearing-in to passport stamp. I will send my vibes your way.

    Thanks so much!

Did he ask for your ead card?

I'm nervous because I lost mine...

    Anna

  7. Hey there,

I'm in the same situation. Our interview is tomorrow at 10:30 am.

And I'm by myself, my husband is flying from San Francisco tomorrow at 6 am...

He moved there first and I'm joining him end of June.

So that whole things adds to being so stressed...

And I also lost my EAD card and my new SS card...

    :(

    Good luck tomorrow!!!

Can't wait to read your positive post, I'll post mine too...

  8. I have just got my interview date for July 11th and have a question about required documentation.

It says to bring an I-864 and evidence if not already submitted. When I submitted the application in March it did not have 2005 tax returns for either my wife or co-sponsor.

It says nothing on the letter about bringing a new form with another years information but I have seen people on these forms taking another I-864 to their interview.

Now I know that the best thing is to be on the safe side and just do another one, this is fine for my wife but I would rather not have to bother my co-sponsor to fill in yet more forms for me. I'm sure it wouldnt be a problem but they have already done a lot.

My wife makes significantly more then the poverty level and we only have the co-sponsor because she has only had the job for 6 months following finishing her post grad.

What I'm looking for is the experiences of people that have and have not taken new I-864's and the thoughts of other people on this?

    Thanks,

    Ian

Well, I have my interview tomorrow and my husband makes enough now so

    all I'm taking is:

    - my sponsor's 2005 taxes

    - my husband's and my taxes - 2005

    - new affidavit notarized (my husband)

so no new affidavit from the sponsor, didn't want to bother him either.

  9. looks like your set. I just want to say good luck with your interview. Him moving to SF without you and you still in NY, just be careful with that I guess. Just be honest but sounds like you gonna be fine.

Thanks... but I did go last week to see if everything is all right, etc.

We were just not so sure about the move plus I have things to finish here

and we also wanted to wait until after the interview...

  10. Ay... the big date is tomorrow...

My husband went ahead and moved to SF in April (fed up with his job here), I went to see him last week and

I'm gonna move there at the end of June. We wanted to see if we both like it, etc.

So he's flying into NY for the interview tomorrow morning...

His flight arrives at 6 am and our thing is at 10:30. So nerve wracking!!!

It's a direct flight but still...

He's just adding to my stress.

Plus all the questions they may have about the house, keys, etc will be weird.

Which house. I guess the one in NJ since we haven't filed the change of address...

    Any thoughts...?

    Ay...

    Anna

  11. Ay... the big date is tomorrow...

  12. It depends, I was not asked for either my EAD or SS card. I was asked to destroy my EAD upon getting my Green Card. So I would not worry, if I were you just explain that you lost it.

I don't think its that big of a deal.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I'm so stressed so I definitely needs reassurance like that!

It's on the list though and I'll still keep looking!

    A

My answer to this question is "It depends"

Kim's interview, the D.O. did not ask for EAD Card or take it back. He did ask to see Kim's SSN Card.

Thanks so much for letting me know!
