coolbeans got a reaction from TBoneTX in VAWA, Part 7
God is great my journey is finally over. I received my permanent resident card in the mail on the 26th. My journey was long and difficult but its over and I am very humbled and grateful. The reality is surreal but I know its true, I have cried and still trying to shake the tension, anxiety, stress and fear. I still have to work on trust but I will heal from this difficult time.
So please dont dispair, be patient and pray for what you want everyday, I also make sure that I express gratitude for the smallest things we take for granted.
God bless Sandra, cant say thank you enough

My journey is finally coming to an end and a new one begins. Yesterday I received notification that my I-485 was approved and card is in production. I still cant believe it, eagerly waiting for the mail
No amount of gratitude is enough to tell Sandra how grateful I am. She selflessly gives her personal time and patience to answer our questions.
Sandra
You are one of a kind. God will bless you over and over, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Kind Regards

coolbeans reacted to Cheezees in Fiance lost citizenship through divorce, now wants to marry me, age gap (split)
If this is what your girlfriend told you, that she lost her US citizenship because she got a divorce, I am sorry to tell you that your girlfriend is lying to you. Citizenship is NOT tied to whether one stays married after receiving it. Ask her for the truth this time because that is NOT it.

Coobeans to have a VAWA case you need to prove BONAFIDE MARRIAGE and ABUSE (physical or/and mental). I agree with the officer that the threat of deportation is not extreme cruelty. The alien can mention threats of deportation to show a pattern of the abusive behavior, but if you just mentioned about the threats then you don't have a VAWA case to prove abuse.
You prove bonafide marriage showing commingling finances, sending a copy of the lease agreement in name of both, copies of car insurance, health insurance in name of both, if you don't have you need to explain why you don't have. For mental abuse is advised to have a psychological evaluation showing that you were diagnosed with depression and/or post traumatic disorder due the abuse suffered.
You spent your whole life in your home Country, how is the threat of deportation extreme cruelty? If you have a child with the abuser then the threat can be characterized as extreme cruelty, why? Because the threat to deport a mother/father would bring suffering to the alien that has to leave the child behind.

coolbeans reacted to Hypnos in i want to petition my girlfriend but i want her to live permanenty in the united states
No one can petition a girlfriend - be they a US citizen or LPR - because there are no visas for girlfriends (or boyfriends).
An LPR can petition for a spouse, and as stated it would take approximately two years. A US citizen can petition for a spouse, which will take about a year, or a fiancé/fiancée, which will take ~6 - 10 months.

coolbeans reacted to Sandra G. in Irrational husband adjustment issues and removal of condition
Please do not accept the bs of him staying half year here and half year there,he will have a new family there, period, and he will return here every time he needs some money. You love your husband, but I don't think he loves you at all. What you described here is not a healthy relationship my dear. Buy one way ticket, ,divorce him and move on . Life is to short to live with someone that clearly has zero respect for you.

Should I just buy him a plane ticket home instead of removing conditions?
Yes.. but buy 1 way ticket only.

Milania86, my understanding is that the rules vary from state to state. I currently live in Arkansas. When I first moved here in 2013 I researched this issue and found that I was permitted to drive on my UK license for 6 months. During that 6 months I was also pulled over by the police. At that time I had applied for my provisional license in Arkansas but had to wait 30 days to take the practical test. The police officer accused me of driving on a suspended USA license which wasn't true. I told him I was driving on a UK license and was within the 6 month period where I was permitted by Arkansas law to do so. He told me he didn't know anything about those rules and he gave me a court date and told me to explain it to the Judge. I was very upset. I went to the local revenue office who issues licenses and they confirmed the police officer was wrong and that I should contact the chief of police of the town where I was stopped. I did that and after he looked into it he said there had been a computer error and everything got dropped.
My advice would be to call the dmv of your town and ask them how long you can drive on your UK license. The officer may be correct if you have been residing in Florida for some time and you did not get a Florida license. Driving on your UK license is only a short term option.

Well I had an infopass on Dec 29 and when the officer realised my case hasn't been touched since I revoked my attorney she went upstairs to inquire what's going on well she babble to her about me not being current since my spouse is an LPR I told the officer I have been current for about 3 to 4 months now an the fingerprints she requested from my son has been done since in August so the IO told me she placed the files on the IO desk an she will adjudicate. Sure enough she did I got my email stating I will received my welcome letter an Greencard in the mail praise be to God BUT with one last hiccup as my journey is one for the big screen lol my sons' medical has expired so she wrote me an requested a new one to be done an submitted by Jan 29 so I had it done over the weekend again and going for it tonight an will mail off tomorrow so hopefully now she can approve my sons' case too. Will keep you posted I'm glad I had gone because Sandra was right sometimes they forget your case considering they have such a heavy workload maybe you should go an ask to speak to a supervisor you've been waiting longer than I have.
