  1. Hi Everyone,

I'm new  to the visa process and I'm afraid I may of messed up?

My husband has been in the USA with GC and it's almost time to apply for the 10yr GC.

I'm super afraid I may of messed up when it comes to the shared finances aspect

When he first came were, we were living with my mom and most of the bills were in her name.

Eventually she moved and it was just us but I didn't think to have the names put in his name. To be fair, at the time he wasn't working but still.

So pretty much when it comes time to file, I'm only going to have a couple months of a few bills in his name.

I do have tax returns filed jointly, joint bank account and him as an authorized person on a credit card.

Is that going to even be enough for the financial proof??

  2. Hi,

My husband has been here on a cr1 visa for 1 year. My mom is a joint sponsor.

Long story short, My family fell on hard times and the lady I work with is in rehabilitation for a couple months. The company could only find me a small amount of hours this month.

    My question:

Can I ( US citizen) apply for food stamps if my husband is here on a cr1? I know he's obviously not a citizen yet so he's not eligible.

If so, on the application I have to list household members. Will it cause any problems for us when we apply for the 10 year renewal?

This is my first time applying for help, so I'm unsure whether they can automatically exclude him since hes not a citizen.

    Thank you

  3. We filed an I90 on August 09 2016 for a replacement Gc because they messed up his name.

How long does this usually take? We have heard nothing from them and it still says biometrics appointment was scheduled ( we already attended this like 9 months ago.

3 months ago I did an infopass appointment. He said within 2 months we will probably have it.

Is there anything else I can do??

  5. Hi guys! I have a few questions.

My husband is in the USA and awaiting his GC. We married in Bangladesh and I'm an American citizen.

I'd like to take his last name but I'm not sure if it's possible.

    1. On our marriage certificate it has my last name and not his. Apparently many people there keep their last names.

Does that matter? Sorry if this is a dumb question, it's all new to me! I didn't know if not having his last name  instead of mine on certificate matters.

    2. Is the first step going through Social Security since I have a foreign marriage? I googled it and websites say SS first, but I don't have to go to the court or anything?

Thank you for answering my dumb questions

  6. Well for example, last year's when he wasn't in the USA, I had to put he's a Nra non resident alien.

I just wanted to make sure I don't have to put anything like that on this year's.

    1 hour ago, Cheezees said:

If they are asking for your marital status and your response is "married", I am not sure what else you are thinking you have to state.

"... but do I put anything else about his status??"  Marital status?  No.

  7. Hi. Our I90 has been at Potomac since August.

On the processing times it states 5 months is normal for I30 but what about the I90? I can't find any place saying the normal time for this.

Also, it seems all categories are being updated (The date for current apps they are processing) but the I90. Its stuck on April 17th. Is this normal too??

  8. Hi,

I'm not sure which thread to post this.

My husband is here with the spouse visa. My mother and I are sponsoring him. Sadly, he received His greencard but it had an error on the name. We've been waiting a few months for them to send a new one, and so he can't work without it.

Recently, my mom moved out so all the bills fall on me. Our gas heating went up big time.

Would applying for heating assistance be allowed? I know the immigrant can't be on assistance/welfare. But am I able to apply without any problems? Or even a budget program?
