  • Our Story
I am an American and met my husband when I traveled to Morocco on vacation in May 2014. We spent every day together for 2 months and I got to know his family and friends. When I returned to the USA, we skyped every day and we quickly realized we wanted to spend our lives together and to get married. Although my husband would like us to live in Morocco, I own my home in America and take care of my mother so I need to continue living and financially working in the USA. Our relationship is non-traditional as I am 49 and he is 28 -- love is a mysterious, unpredictable and fabulous thing!! I returned to Morocco, four months later, in November 2014 and we spent 3 weeks together, filed all the paperwork, and were married in December 2014. (We did not have a wedding - money is/was tight, we are hoping maybe we can afford to have one before he leaves morocco) We Skyped daily and I returned to Morocco for 3 weeks in June 2015 and had a sort of "honeymoon" together at the beach in Essaouirra. As I was looking for employment and didn't secure a position until the end of August 2015, we waited to file our 1-130 until the first week of September 2015. I visited again in December 2015 for 2 weeks (all my employer would allow) We thought we would get approved by Sept of 2016 so I didn't visit morocco thinking he would be coming to the USA soon-- unfortunately that didn't happen. We waited and waited and waited and he finally got an interview for April 17 2017. Trying to be hopefully and being half out of my mind, I booked a flight for him expecting this nightmare was coming to an end. However, we were told we are in administrative processing and are still waiting. my senators office told me to expect 6-8 months before we get any notice so I booked a trip to morocco for 3 weeks October 2017. So we have now passed the 6 month mark since the interview and have heard and received nothing. Still waiting. Being separated is so difficult and although we are trying to patiently wait, it all seems so unfair :(
