    Hello, everyone! Please Help.......

So, I am holding a 10 years GC and planning to apply for Citizenship next year. We have our Medical and Dental insurance from my work for the whole family (Myself, Husband and step- children) and now work is in middle of transition and i lost all the benefits due to the now company owner (Technically, i am new hire again)  my questions are:.....

    1. If my husband (a US citizen) apply for Medicaid for himself and kids (not including me), would that affect my application for Citizenship?

    2. Can he (husband) apply for food stamp as well?  He is unemployed for the past 2 years.

Thank you all in advance and looking forward for the insights.

I just wanted to Thank this website and to everyone for sharing your Immigration process and input. It helped me a lot from K1 process to ROC and it made all the process smoothly. I got my 10 years GC now w/o interview, so thanks to you all. FYI: it was approved and GC on hand exactly 1 year since we sent to USCIS. Thank you everyone!

  3. Quick question folks, I filed for ROC January 22 of this year and got the notification of not needing to do the biometrics after few months (which is good, i think) but each time i check my online status it keep showing the validation error :(

How long would it take before i can actually see progress online?

  4. Hello everyone! Quick question, am trying to help a friend she's from Venezuela and she's here in US for work (her company from Venezuela sent her here for work) but in tourist visa. Now, she wants to take some English classes but they required a SSN, can she get SSN with tourist visa? Thanks to you all!

I've travelled to the Philippines last year with my conditional green card. Stayed there for 2 months. As long as you got your green card with you and a copy of your marriage certificate for the immigration, you're good to go.

    Thank you :-)

  6. Hello everyone!

Has anyone travelled to Philippines (on conditional visa) lately and how did it go at the immigration when you get back? Just a little panicking due to the new Trump's immigration stuff. Also, I am on conditional visa (2 years) and going to see my family back home (Philippines) for a month, would that be a problem when we start working on my ROC in Nov.? I will be traveling alone, my husband (USC) wouldn't be able to come due to work loads.

    Thank you all :-)

  7. Hello,

Can anyone provide me information regarding my question.

My fiancée is a Filipina Citizen currently working as OFW in Hong Kong.

I filed my petition to US Embassy in Hong Kong. The processing was completed and she received her K-1 Visa stamped at her Philippine Passport.

She is returning to the Philippines to spend some time with her parents and leaving at NAIA airport and will be leaving at NAIA airport in couple months.

What are the requirements she needed to exit at NAIA and what are the documents she need to present before boarding her flight.

    Please help.

    Thanks much.

  8. Yes, Congrats!

The status will update when they mail the green card and then again when it's delivered. The EAD/AP are obsolete once you receive your green card.

You can start applying for jobs. You just will need to provide evidence (i.e. copy of your green card) of your legal status once you accept a job. You'll also need an SSN which you can get by bringing all your docs to the SS Office. If you already have one, you will need to go to the SS Office and update your status by providing a copy of your green card.

Thank you! Yeah, already have SSN so will just need to update it when I get the GC in hand.

  9. So, In Dec. 2015 we filed my AOS and did my biometrics in January 7. Today, I checked my online status and it says "On February 11 we ordered your new card for receipt xxxxxxxx, and will mail it to the address you gave us."

Does this mean my AOS has been approved w/o interview? My EAD and AP has no updates at all.

If it is approved, how long before I get the green card on hand and am I okay to start a job w/ green card and w/o the EAD? Again, Thanks to you all in advance!

    Warm Regards

  10. According to their timeline, the OP's wife has already filed for AOS. If there is no interview, then it may not come up.

Thank you all so very much! Yes, my husband was still employed when we sent the AOS, he still got employment certificate and salary certificate from the company he was working for. However, after a week of sending the AOS packet he loss his job. ?

  11. I am the US Citizen filing for AOS for my new wife. I just lost my job yesterday. I need to know if filing for unemployement, Family Independence (TANF), and Food Stamps ( Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program or SNAP) will cause issues with the AOS when it comes around. I am actively seeking employement and hope to have a new job soon, but will the fact I applied for these during this period cause us any future issues? Talk about bad timing in this whole process!

  12. I had a SSN, but no card (lost) when I arrived. Went to the SSA the week after I arrived. Got my card in the mail a week later. Got married, went back with marriage certificate, handed in the brand new card from a week ago. Kept maiden name as middle name, received new physical card a week later.

    Totally smooth!

Of course you can change your name immediately after marriage if you already have an SSN. Only if you apply for a new one should you wait until EAD.

@teeak Where does it say pictures for AoS? We are not sending wedding pictures, just the certificate. That's proof enough we're married!

  13. 1) You would just need your marriage certificate. But, a lot of people run into problems when they try to change it before AOS because when they search the system, they'll only find the name you entered the US on. So, it's best to wait until you get the EAD/AP combo card with your married name so they have government ID as proof of it.

What is important is the actual number, not really the name on the card so you don't need to have it changed right away.

    2) Yes. I would recommend reading the guide thoroughly. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

    3) Yes, you need to submit everything together.

    Thank you
