  1. My husband had a DUI 9 years ago and we did not bring those papers. We just stated it truthfully on the application. Only court papers we brought was his divorce degree. But if in doubt, bring them. Better safe than sorry at the interview. You dont get another chance. All the best of luck to you guys! Camilla if hes the beneficiary i would for sure bring it all! No need to lose anything on that account.

  2. Thanks to you all! I know it was a silly question. I just wanna make sure we can be together no matter what life we choose ❤️ And youre right. Me as a scandinavian this whole new, not working being a housewife, is very different from whats even accepted in Scandinavia too. I think we tend to look down on it as well! I take is as a wonderful chance at making a family without jongling with career race and expectations! I hope it will all be fine! Thank you all for replying ?❤️

  3. Thanks guys! Im used to working and love it! But i guess theres a time in life where its okay to make a family and not if the finances are able to hold it up! He makes enough for me and him and hopefully a baby! Its just me who was worried since i kinda feel obligated to contribute to the country and to the family! Sorry for the silly question but thanks a million for the sweet answers! ❤️

  4. Hi all! We arent do for our ROC til next year but we do want to have a family, I am the LPR, i want to work, but we are working on having a baby for the time being. So my question is, is it gonna be a problem when we file for ROC if I havent worked or is working at that time? My husband and I both met a little later in life, and we both want to just start a family sooner rather than later and I will persue my career later on. We just dont know if thats gonna make us look bad for ROC if I, the LPR havent worked since getting married! We make it work financially without my help so we would rather i take care of everything since my husbands shifts are 12 hours long everyday night and dayshift. Might be a silly question, most likely, but you know these processes makes people have the weirdest questions ? Thank you for your time and help! Camilla

  5. Brother i hear you loud and clear. Ive been here since 2012 in this forum. Maaaany people are living as you describe. With a kid on a long distance awaiting approval.. Its hard as hell. We have all been there. But we all have done it for years. Youre not willing to wait and see how this situation is even gonna go but just rush into it. Its a month relationship.. And if you research in here you will find people who are amazing.. Waiting for more than 5 yrs in some cases. Immigration isnt a walk in the park. Im not sure you have a clue how hard work it all is! Maybe you do! ?I cant be the judge of that nor should I! Not here to judge anyone! Just letting you know its not gonna be easy with the short relationship you guys have.. I sure hope for you it will! Truly! All the best to you! Be prepared for waiting time no matter what! And if you get denied cause you all moved faster than you could run then that will be devasting for you both. Immigration is a tough cookie for the lovers! But all the best your way! Hope you didnt take offense from my annoying two cents ? dont mean no harm!

  6. And i dont mean to rain on your parade. But eveeeeeryone in this forum have waited FOREVER to even get approved to get married. So if you have to wait 2-3 yrs, so be it. If this lobe is as real as you think, a marriage is a lifetime, so whats 2-3 yrs? Think about it. Wouldnt you wanna know who you are marrying and financially co mingling with. Cause you will have too!! And it can either be wonderful and soulmate stories, or you having a new a...... riped financially cause yoi didnt know who you married. You think you do but one month relationship? Just warning you. Not trying to ruin your help page here. Wish you all the best! Just an advise. If you want it or not ??

  7. We had to wait 4 years to get married. We all survived it and so did our love. Its not hard if its true love. And where theres a will theres a way.. So i think marriage is a bad idea to use as the excuse of not being able to be together. So be together but see where life takes you all. If its the same in a year or 5 then get married. I dont believe people have to get married to be together in this situation. Its simply idiotic to marry someone you dont know. If so, get a good prenup and your papers in order in case it doesnt last when the first few months are over and real life hits ya with normal life situations.. You dont know the person that well yet.. Love is blinding for awhile. Just saying. Think about it again.. Im sure there are ways. We all had to do it. Long distance for 3 years. Married for one now. Made it fine even if we couldnt be together fully for the first 3!

  8. Marriage isnt something you should just jump into. Its sad to think it has lost its value to so many. Not the answer you are looking for but seriously, see if you guys can make it all happen without jumping into marriage as if it was a pair of new jeans... Im sure you guys can be together and then get to know each other first. For real know each other. Either way wish you the best of luck with the process!

  9. Hey Camilla - for the interview, was it your "straffeattest" you had to bring as "police certification"? Did you have it translated by an official translator or did you just order it in English on borger.dk ? And did you get it signed at your local police station or did you just bring the copy with no signature?

Just received packet 3 from the U.S. Embassy in Sweden and I have already gotten my straffeattest through borger.dk however I don't want to show up with the wrong piece of paper :)

you have to go to the nearest police station and get it signed, and it has to be the english version, but the one on Borger isnt gonna be good enough. So go to the nearest station and tell them you are applying for this visa and needs a english version of ur Straffeattest and signed. Make some copies. You will need it for later in the process once you are married maybe. The one you get on Borger isnt explicit enough they told me when i went to get mine signed. So they do it all for you in a nano second :-) Held og lykke! Hvornår er dit interview?? Camilla
  10. I applied for my ssn card in my maiden name a week after i arrived. Then we got married and i applied for a ssn card name change, with 30 days left on my I-94. But for some reason its just not happening. Its been 2 months and crickets. We talked to the office and they say it wont be released till i get my EAD. Sigh. Went down today and got my name on our house lease so thats good! I hope we can try and get another try at adding me to the joint bank account. Do they want to see statements from bank? Cause obviously i need to get it fixed first eventho its been impossible up to now. So im guessing by the time we have the interview i still dont have much joint stuff to show off. Except for joint medical and life insurance 401k and house lease. Its all we can do since we havent gotten the EAD yet and wont untill this interview. Thanks for all the advice guys! I appriciate it! Camilla

  11. So an update. Got married July, and sent in AOS 31st of August. Did biometrics, and got an RFE for a single signature, returned the RFE with the little signature that we had forgotten, the same day, and now we are sent to Interview zzzz. Woke up this morning to USCIS page saying they will schedule an interview for the form I-485.... Ask me if i want or need this right now. more worries... We still havent been able to get me on a joint bank account since SSN office STILL havent sent my new SSN card in my married name ( been 2 months now )... So to gather ANY evidence of any joint in my new married name, let say that will be a challenge. My EAD approval was gonna help those things along. But now i have to figure out how to get remotely close to gathering that evidence WITHOUT the EAD since thats what my interview is for... oh and we are leaving for vacation on thursday for 2 weeks and i dont know if we should cancel that and stay home and wait for the interview letter and prep our case.....or if we should go, on this anniversary trip to NY where we met 3 years ago and take a immi break in my head :-( Sorry needed to vent it all out! have a blessed day everyone! Hugs Camilla Denmark

  12. We of course are gonna do that;-) we have been on multiple trips since we got married. with names and flights boarding passes saved. just not in my married name since i dont have an ID in that new name so had to be my maiden to match my foreign passport.

I know we just have to fight this whole name thing and see who will let me be joint with my husband eventhough i cannot prove an ID that they need.
my passport and married license dont really help since they need something with my new name. We are gonna apply for credit card for me. Thanks for the help you guys. Hope to hear others experience from the AOS interview.

  13. Thanks guys! We tried to get me added to my husbands bank account but they want to see a state ID, which i cannot get since my SSN card in my new married name hasnt arrived 2 months into it, and have been told it will not get approved until i get my EAD. How do we get me on the utillity bills when they only allow one name? i am freaking out a bit, mostly cause i dont have all these things yet, I was waiting for the EAD to get approved so we actually were allowed to get all these joint things since its proven to be nearly impossible without :-( How long did it take for you to get your actual interview from the day of notice? we havent gotten the actual letter yet, just a notice that " ready to schedule for my interview based on form I-485. We are leaving for 12 vacation thursday should we stay home instead?? Sorry for dumb questions. Im just a little besides myself right now.

  14. So i have an extra question regarding this AOS interview. Yesterday we saw on UCSIC webpage that "They are ready to schedule an interview for the I-485 form. We are going on a vacation on thursday for 12 days, is there any reason to cancel our vacation? Should we stay home and wait for the letter and get our papers ready or does it take a long time untill the actual interview? Thank you! Camilla

  15. I REALLY need everyones advice who has been through this. I never expected that we would have to get an interview. What happens at the interview?? What do we need to bring or prove and have? Obviously i dont have much since i dont have my EAD and havent been able to get a joint account with my husband, my name on utillites or drivers license. Im freaking out. They sent the message yesterday. I need to know if i should be freaking out or not? Mu husband and I (from denmark) have been together for 3 years. Seeing each other every single month, for months for 3 years and got married in july this year. My family has been here on vacation for the second time staying with us. I dont know why we were chosen but it is what it is. I just need advice and help so i dont get to upset thinking about this :-( Thanks guys! Camilla

  16. Thanks guys. I guess my head was being silly. I thought it was a completely different thing they needed us to sign and wasnt reading it closly. The rfe has been sent back with a signature on the form and hoping it wont take months from now on. thanks for clearifying :-) i just needed to male sure i was reading the rfe right. As always you guys are helpful so thanks :-) Have a great day!

  17. Hi Guys. Wondering if anyone can clear this for me. We just received an RFE for " Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, was not signed by petitioner/sponsor.

My question is, how do we respond to the RFE? We thought that Part 8 of the Affidavit of support was if we had a sponsor. We dont, so thats why my Husband didnt sign it of course. Are we supposed to sign it eventhough we DONT have a sponsor and therefor didnt fill out those pages? im confused.

In the RFE it says :" The petitioner/sponsor must sign and return the enclosed page of Form I-864.

So they sent a copy of that page. So my question is: do we just sign that page and thats it?? Should we send in the entire case with tax and paystubs etc again or am i just being overly nervous about ###### this RFE up.. I dont want any more delays if I can do it right this time of course.

I might have confused myself more than i should and its all super easy, i have just learned its better to ask then to think im doing it right, again since that didnt work out hehe :-) Thanks Guys! Camilla

  18. Congrats! You have nothing else to fill out. You have to get married first before you can get him a temporary work authorization. So get married, and THEN you can file Adjustment of status (AOS) its a few different legal forms, Employment authorization, Travel document, Affidavit of support and the Adjusment of status of course. All in one you send in all those forms. It will cost you 1070$. When you have submitted that, it will be aproximately 90 days till he recieves the Temporary employment authorization. He has to do a biometric getting his fingerprints done and a photo taken for the card he will recieve. So it will be a while till hes allowed to work. All the best on your journey! :)

  19. Hello fellow VJ'ers!

Im ready to send in my I-485 package and am including the I-765(Application for Employment Document) and the I-131 (Application for Travel Document). I attached 2 passport photos to the G-325A form. Do I need to also attach 2 passport photos for the I-765 and another 2 photos for the I-131?

I copy, pasted, and modified my I-485 Cover Letter from the original poster of this thread and noticed he had sent multiple copies of the marriage license, NOA approval letter, I-94 forms, and passport photos (which someone posted was unnecessary) so I only sent 1 copy of each for all the forms as I am assuming UCSIS makes there own additional copies per form if needed?

All that said...do I need to send 6 total passport photos are just 2?

Couldn't be more grateful for all the help we have gotten from VJ! Wouldn't have gotten this far without all your help!!!

  20. Thanks to all of you for your responses :-D very helpful! We will go to a different office tomorrow and hope for a different answers with this info you all have shared! Thank you so much!! Camilla

  21. So my american fiance is unware of WHY i need thr SSN now. I honestly tried to explain why its good to have. He found on US government page it saying i need a reason to obtain one with the I-94. Either for work or smt else. I know i cannot work since we havent gotten EAD or applied for it since we arent married. So can someone spell it out in neon for me what to tell my fiance, why i need the SSN?
