The one thing I miss is Cadbury! I go to the British emporium near Dallas just to buy the imported double deckers, fudge and of course the frys Orange cream

What Nobbie was saying is correct. A K1 must have a medical and the results must be received by the embassy before they will schedule a fiancé interview.
Sorry, didn't know that it was different for a K1. Only have experience for an IR-5.

Well thank you for the information, pretty sold on flying through Dublin. Apologies to the OP for the hijack
lol, no problem at all and thanks everyone for the info on Dublin

A question for you Collie.
Once I sort out citizenship for myself I would like to petition my parents. Would you mind answering a few qustions about the process?
Sure, fire away

Update:
Just call NVC and they said that my married license was a copy?? lol. Don't they feel the stamp? I told them I got this from Register of Wills Clerk of the Orphans’ Court and they stamp on it. I said maybe they only look at the copy side cuz I put in a 2 pocket folder and wrote a big letter on it saying Orginal (right pocket) and Copy (left pocket).. They told me to ignore the checklist for now and they will have the supervisor review again.
Is there a higher level I can talk to like USCIS teir 2?
This is the same BS that I dealt with. Email the NVC asking them to case complete you as they are all certified copies/originals and the original reviewer should be held accountable for not looking properly. I put mine to the attention of the DR and was case completed in 24 hours.

Its approx. $100 to bring a pet to the US from the UK when they travel as excess baggage with you - not at all expensive. For me when I moved nearly 9 years ago, there was no option for me to leave my Border Collie behind - I never would have left her behind. Now my parents are about to immigrate in a few months time and they are bringing two cats. They have to fly a different route through different airports, but they too could never leave their furbabes behind.

There are people with PDs after mine who have interviews before mine. Maybe it's not supposed to work that way, but I'm sure it's an imperfect process.
I agree - PD means nothing when it comes to scheduling an interview!
My post won't post correctly This is the UK link https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv
Thank you! Just passed it on to my Dad to register himself and my Mum. These are the things that I wouldn't ever know if I didn't have y'all at VJ

Hi Collie,
Now that is a very good question!! I have had a quick look at Ryanair's policy - as I was actually checking in on-line for a flight to Spain as I got your reply and their policy is Passport or National ID only!! As per this from their T&C's of Carriage below:
THE ONLY FORMS OF TRAVEL DOCUMENTS ACCEPTED ON RYANAIR FLIGHTS ARE:
- A valid passport
- A valid National Identity Card issued by the government of a European Economic Area (EEA) country. (Only the following EEA countries currentlyissue National Identity Cards acceptable for carriage on Ryanair flights: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France*, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden (not accepted on non Schengen flights), Switzerland). *The validity of French National ID cards (issued for adults) has been extended from 10 years to 15 years.
Who are they planning to fly with? It may be that they may have a case to ask for issue the same day!! There was a couple recently that were asked to come back later that day to collect their passports as they needed to get their dog on a flight to the US that month!!
Maybe there are others on this site that have been through the same senario who may have a solution.
I'll keep looking too.
Chris & Silvia
I believe that they are flying with Easyjet but I will check and confirm, thanks

Hi Collie,
As far as I'm aware you cannot go to the embassy to collect the Passports, so they definitely do not need to fly back to the UK! In fact you need to make sure they have registered on the web site, Link here: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv , and choose your return method - as BOS_LHR stated you can collect from the nearest DX Secure depot (They have one at Belfast Airport) or have it delivered to a private or business address! They need to print out the confirmation form and add it to the package they take to the embassy as it is required when your parents are called to the window for the first time - which is ID and Document checking phase.
Hope this clarifies the process a little.
Best of Luck to them,
Chris & Silvia
I just had a thought: can they fly back home to N.I using another form of ID? Not sure if rules or whatever have changed since I was there.

My parents have to fly Dublin to Chicago and then onto DFW due to not being able to fly from London with their cats. I know that when I went to the US via Dublin nearly 9 yrs ago with my pup, there was a Homeland security check at the airport and I didn't get questioned again in Chicago. Is this going to be the same for my parents or will their true POE when they hand over their envelope be at Chicago?
-
If you have not had your medical you will not have an interview date set. They only schedule an interview after the medical results are in and they have your paperwork and readiness form.
This is not true. The UK permits advance medicals. You can get a medical done prior to the interview date being set.

My parents were there last week for their medical and were in and out within an hour. They had a pleasant experience and said that the Dr was lovely.

Visa Approved today - WOOOOOO!!!!! So stoked. Wish I could be with my husband to celebrate....but we will see each other soon and are going on a 2 week roadtrip from British Columbia to NYC. Now I can spend energy focusing on that now that I can breathe easier with the approval.
Thank you thank you thank you million times over for everyone who has helped along the way - and of course especially Saylin and Dwheels76.
Congrats!!!
-
You can do home delivery or depot pickup, no need to go back to London thank goodness!
Thank heavens for that! Thank you
-
For the London folks: is there an option for the passport to be mailed rather than have to pick it up in London?
I think that another flight to London would give my poor parents financial heart failure!

whoo hoo, CEAC site shows ready and DHL tracker shows that the packets arrived in London this morning

hi i saw this post since i have a question about AOS for both parents. I paid my dad's AOS but when i tried to pay for my mom it says IN PROCESS... so meaning only one $88 payment for both parents?
Plus after the payment, do i have to wait for the next email of the NVC or is it a mail?
Regarding the Affidavit of Support forms, since i'm not working and my husband will be my co sponsor, should i only use I864 or I-184A or BOTH?
Thanks in advance for the time and response.
The one fee covers both parents.
If the co-sponsor is a household member you both use I-864.
-
Yep, just got an update that both parents AOS are good to go . Rep told me to wait a few days for IV package status. I guess the checklist is if we're missing something then will get it or else we're just wait for case to close.
Awesome! you are nearly there now
Quickie update - I checked the CEAC website and the status shows as "Ready" and according to DHL, the packets arrived at the embassy in London this morning
-
Yay, my status on the CEAC website shows ready and according to the DHL tracker, my parent's files arrived in London this morning! Now all we have to do is wait! This next month is going to be torture while we wait!

In my previous post that is what I was referencing about additional data with Waybill #
Visit the link below and plug in your Waybill # and you will get the extra Shipping Details
http://www.dhl-usa.com/en/express/tracking.shtml?nav=TrackByRef
Only 2.8lbs for mine - surprising given the size of the AOS packet that I submitted lol!
-
Once you get Case Complete and Interview date they will ship your packet to the Embassy.
You can track it with DHL.................Wow it weights 6.7 pounds
How did you get to see the weight details? I can find mine on the DHL website but don't see any other details except for where it states where its going/departed from. Curious minds want to know

Until now I got no checklist or anything besides email on what to be paid. Paid all fee and mail in AOS/IV Package. Even before mailing those package, i never get anything on what to mail out. Lucky i have VJ's members. Now that the package was scanned 4/22, i still got nothing..Call nvc and all i heard was 30 days waiting period. What's going on?
Is everyone getting checklist by email or mail?
Just keep calling them - it is taking about 3 weeks to review packets on average. My checklist came via verbal and email.
Btw I am not sure if anyone else has noticed this but people who are working in the evening at NVC are much nicer and easier to deal with (for the most part) than the ones in the morning. For the most part when I call around 5pm eastern time, they are willing to talk to you and give you more detail in a very pleasant manner.
Very true unless you get Todd who is the best day person
