That's some good news then !
Maybe they will be finished by Monday or Tuesday, with a call in later in the month.
That's be nice. I hope so too. I plan on emailing my senator again so he can check on the status.
-
If we don't get any news from the embassy this week I'll email my senator so he can ask them the status and they need anything. I'll send him a smart and factual email so he can forward it to the embassy. Hopefully it compels them to quickly make a decision.

I have a question. 1. For those you submitted the disclosure paperwork to your senators/reps, have you heard anything following submission? 2. How long have you been in AP and have you heard anything since the denial?
You have to contact the senator's office again after you submit the privacy release form. You need to send an email to the embassy and ask the status of your case. They will reply you and explain what's going on with it. Better yet, ask the senator's office to do that. You'll probably get a better reply.

Hey fellow Ghanaian wives and husbands, Im still waiting to hear from the embassy. I was thinking if all these cases are sent back to the USCIS from Ghana. Shouldn't raise a red flag. Im just wondering if they have a quota they have to meet. I wish this process was not so hard. I miss my husband and its not feasible to travel three times a year to see him. People waiting for their husband and wife to be with them. I talked to my husband today his just cried because he missed and he wasn't feeling well. It hurt not being there. Most of us had more than enough evidence they just know that they are not gonna let so many into this country. Im really thinking about moving there maybe I can find work. This is not an easy road for us. One of my girlfriends husband has been in AP since Sept of last year and the case is still at the embassy. This country must get a forgiving heart.
No need to take that kind of drastic step of moving to Ghana. Your husband is delayed not denied. Moving to Ghana is something that should be planned for years with adequate money saved and either a career secured or business started before you move. Taking this kinda step will cause friction between you and your husband in the future. Just be patient. Keep doing everything you can. It won't be long.

Update on my case.
If you guys remember, I contacted my senator the same day my wife's visa was denied. I sent him an email describing everything that took place during the interview along with most of the evidence myself wife took. His office then forwarded my email to the chief consulate in accra.
1. The chief consulate review my case and stopped the case from being sent back to the U.s.
2. It was placed on administrative processing.
3. 2 days ago I got an email which stated that the case is being investigated and should be completed in the near future.
4. They said after the review is completed they will call my wife to come back to the embassy.
So my case went from being put in the mail to go back to the u.s, to my wife being called to come back to the embassy.
When I got the news that my wife was denied I had a calculus-2 exam that day. I was completely depressed and couldn't even focus on the exam. I just knew I had to take action and can't just sit around and be sad. I honestly did not believe anything would come out of contacting my senator, I was just sad and needed to do something. And thank God I did. I thank God I did. Even if they just call her to bring more evidence at least this time she will take two luggage bags of evidence. It's much better than the alternative.

Your interview will be either September or October.Hello All!
We are at the stage where we've received the Case Complete email(7/7/15) but are at the "At NVC" status since then. I check daily to see a change but nothing. What should I expect?
If you get your interview email at the beginning of August, your interview will be in September.
If you get it at the end of august or beginning of September, your interview will be in October.
June 17. You should be getting your email some time in August with an interview date for September. My husband's case was completed on 17 June 2015, and still no word of the interview date. Does anyone know what's going on with the embassy in Accra? CR1 visa.
-
To start, I'm the USC and my hubby is the CR1 in Ghana.
As I'm reading all these awesome and informative posts (this site is very helpful BTW) I am just wondering if during the interview process did anyone NOT have it all together?
For example:
1. I'm reading that we should have made at least 3 copies of all docs sent to the NVC. We didn't, just one for nvc and one sent to hubby. Now I don't know whats going on cause I don't have a copy.
2. This is our first run at this so we didn't know to capture EVERYTHING we did in photos as 'proof'. We have wedding photos, visits etc. But nothing intentional.
3. I've only visited once for two weeks and we were married there. I came back to prepare for his arrival. We don't have a lot of money to go back and forth.
What about this?
I'm not trying to spoil your mood but I see a very tough battle with the Consular Officer in your future. The embassy in Ghana is very tough. Very tough. For example, I'm not from Ghana. I spent 4 months in ghana with my wife. I traveled there again and stayed another month the following year. We have two children who are U.S citizens. We have a house in Kasua under both our names. We rented a house in spentex and the lease has both our names. And not to mention pictures, Facebook chats, tango, phones calls, etc... I think you get the point. But yet my wife was denied a visa because the co said she's not convince that our marriage is real. I highly suggest you travel to Ghana again please. Only meeting your husband for two weeks and then getting married may not convince them. I highly suggest you go to Ghana again. Take lots and lots and lots of pics with your husband and his family. Pics of you and your husband kissing, cooking together, lying on the bed, in church, holding hands, etc... start taking screenshots of you and your husband chats from today and be printing them. Good luck.

The attorney is taking care of everything for me. He contacted my senators office. I hope we all hear good news soon.
Ok. You should probably tell him or her to send evidence along with any letter or email they send to the senator office, and not just a letter. That's what I did and they forwarded my email to the consulate general including all attachments. Just a piece of advice. How long you gonna be in Ghana?

My husband was also denied a visa last Monday at the US embassy in Ghana. We did not see that coming at all. We had so much proof. He had a extra large 3 ring binder and over 200 pics. The lady that did his interview was American and would not look at all the proof. She said the marriage seemed staged because of how we met. She would only look at 1 page of skype and it had a couple missed calls on it. Then that day we talked for 10 mins on Skype. That was due to that day I worked late and it was in the middle of the night in Accra. So of course we would not have a hour long conversation. I happened to be in Ghana last year right after Christmas and didn't get back to the states until Feb. The Christmas card he sent me in the mail didn't make it until after Christmas. I had sent him a email saying I received the Christmas card. She asked him why he sent me a Christmas card on valantines day. I WAS IN GHANA!!! She would not look at documents to show I was there. He said it seemed that she had already made up her mind very early in interview. So I have hired a immigration attorney. Hopefully it works. For now I am going back to Ghana next Month to stay for a while. The people at the embassy have no idea what they do to families when they deny. It's horrible!!!! All the waiting to be denied at the end.
That's just terrible. Very terrible that this can happen. Did you contact your senator office?

Update on the case
I just got a letter back from my senator's office today. Immediately after my wife was denied I sent called his office and they asked me to send them an email detailing everything happened. I sent the email and included lots of evidence, photos, wedding certificates, our children U.S passports, etc... lots of evidence. They sent it all to the chief consulate on my behalf. The reply that gave is "the Case is still in Ghana and it is being review and they will contact me and my wife very very soon." Needless to say, I am very very happy. I honestly did not think anything would come out of contacting my senator's office. I am not sure what will happen but at least it is being reviewed again by someone. I pray for a positive outcome for us. Amen.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR WONDERFUL ADVICE.

We were just denied in Ghana, CO said she is not convinced of the legitimacy of our relationship. What can we do? Anyone please
Mine was denied about 3 weeks ago and this is what I did.
1. I contacted my senators office.
They gave me an email to the person who handles immigration and told me to detail everything that happened, what the CO said, and include most of the evidence my wife took, as an attachment. I detailed everything that happened and included lots of photos, marriage certificate, our child birth certificate, etc... and sent it to them. I gave them about 2 days and called his office back. They said they saw the email and that the things i sent to them were pretty convincing so they will send an email the the Chief consulate. Not sure what the email will say and not sure what will come out of it. However, its better than doing nothing, and it gives me peace of mind that I at least doing something.
2. I emailed the Immigration division of the embassy in Ghana.
I sent an email to the immigration division of the embassy with the attention supervisor. Included lots of evidence, what the CO said,etc... I mean i sent lots and lots of evidence with that email. I am hoping someone sensible will review it and have a talk with someone who can do something. I am not sure if anything will come out if it but once again, it gives me peace of mind that I am not just sitting and waiting.
You can just wait till USCIS contacts you requesting for more evidence or whatever they need you to do. Nothing much you can really do at this stage.

My wife reached out to her congressman's office and they let us fill out some paperwork for them before they can make enquire in our case and the congressman's told her that they've reached out to Embassy in Ghana and was told our case is in Ghana but it has to be returned back to the USCIS and before they can do anything and my wife herself made a follow up to come to Ghana at the embassy a month later and was told to wait till our petition gets returned back to the USCIS for revocation proceedings and as at now our petition is at the USCIS now and whenever i check our status online it says is at the review now so we are waiting for decision to be made concerning it.
That's good. Please tell me how long it took from denial till your case got to uscis. I want to know how long await I should be expecting. And the month you were denied. Thanks.
-
Hi Mr votal, please can you in box me in facebook, that woman told me and my husband that our marriage is fake ,i call 7news on her
Ok. You can send me your Facebook name in a pm.
-
Online status updates are unreliable. For some it says AP for others it says petition returned. You can't go by that.
Senatorial inquiry is the best way to find out case location.
If they decided to review the case internally at the embassy then you would be in AP but the fact that it says AP online
doesn't mean they did not return the petition.
Thanks a lot again for the info. I went to my senator office the same hour it was denied and took soooo many evidence our children passport photos, etc... they reviewed it. And said they would send an email to Ghana. I haven't heard anything back from his office though. I'll call tomorrow. I'm hoping they decided to review it internally.
-
It certainly can say that.
She said the case will be sent back to uscis. The status just changed today.
What was on the paper they gave her before she left the embassy? And I don't know how often they update cases online, you can email the Emabssy and ask them if it was denied if the paper doesn't tell you what action they're doing and to contact your congressman or senator for help immediately!
I did that. And they are on top of it. I sent him all the evidence. Just wondering if they could have put the case on AP rather than sending it back.

No, a CR/IR will not expire. It is K1's that expire. You should get your NOID letter in a few months, 2-4 or so.
I checked our case status online and it says administrative processing updated on June 25th. Is that what happens when a spousal visa is denied? Or is there something else going on?
-
Wife visa was denied on the 22 of this month but when I checked the status today 25th it says administrative processing. Is that what it's says when a spousal visa is denied? Or something else is going on? Thank you.

UPdate!!
1. My wife called the U.S citizen service (USCS) division of the embassy and told them everything that happened. The lady gave my wife the USCS email to give to me to detail everything that happened and send it to them, which i have done and included a lot of the evidence we gave. I also stated that she asked for DNA test on my American citizen children but did not explained to us how to go about doing one, or put our case on AP to give us time to do it. She just said she's done with our case and got up and left. I am not sure what will come out of this but at least its better than not doing anything.
2. I contacted my senator office.
I was given his immigration service coordinator's email and told to detail everything the lady said. Also to include all evidence. They said the Senator will review it and send the appropriate email to the consular general in Accra.
Anything else I can or should do? any advice helps. thank you.

I was also denied my visa to join my wife by that same CO on jan 15 this year after i submitted to her plenty of evidence she requested she ends up denying me and saying she didnt believe how we fell inlove wit each other so quick so sheis returning my case back to the USCIS and even last week she denied a friend of mine too his visa join his wife too...So its like she has already made up her mind not to be approving visa to Ghanaians..something really have to be done about this unfairly treatment to Ghanaians by this CO
So what did you do? or What are you doing about the situation.
-
Yes, at their discretion they sure do have the authority to ask for a DNA test and inform the beneficiary exactly how and where to proceed
with it. Happens all the time at some embassies with spousal, K1 visas where family members are petitioned.
This CO is a fruit cake because she complained and mumbled about "why didn't they order do a DNA test" The CO is the one who must inform the couple
that she wants a DNA test and then there wouldn't be a need to return the petition.
A formal complaint should be made about this CO.
How would I file a formal complaint?
-
The comments of help for the poster is great, but anyone who has not been to this Emabssy doesn't understand this co is has a ugly attitude and has a nasty presence! You can provide everything she ask for and she will still say she doesn't believe she already has a attitude before you approach her window what is it that can be done for a consular who acts this way?? If you go look through Ghana threads you will see what I'm talking about its the same co!
yeah its the same co. her initials are KM. Old blonde white lady.
-
Maybe they never denied her visa, but requesting some details. If you could share with us what the CO told her in its entirety, then most people in vj forum might figure out what to say. Now, all what we re saying might be basically speculative.
The paper said that her visa is denied and the case will be sent back to nvc then to uscis. I called my congressman office and they said that a chief consulate officer will review it before it is sent back to the u.s. so I'm hoping a miracle happens. If I gave you access to my Google drive and you see all the evidence I provided, you would curse the lady.

Thank you. You have been very helpful. I'll tell you what happened. My wife took 3 binders full of traditional marriage pics, white wedding pics, pics of us kissing and generally having fun, pics of our families together pics of me playing with our children. In fact, the evidence was too them much. The interviewer was upset that I they did not make me do a DNA test before they approved my children citizenship. My wife said she was visibly upset and was making comments like...I don't know why they didn't make him do DNA, they should have made him do DNA. From there on she did not care about any evidence in front of her. She was totally fixed on the DNA. She then denied my wife and my wife told her "what more do you want, we have given you everything you asked and more." The lady then made a comment like maybe I should do a DNA test. This woman should not be able to get away with this bitterness. So I will do the DNA and send it to them when they request more evidence. But I am praying that someone with sense will review our case and overturn her decision.

Have you considered moving because of immigration hassle?

I wouldn't advice anyone to relocate to Ghana because of immigration difficulties. It requires careful planning, critical analyzing, and plenty of money. If not, you are bound to run out of money, get frustrated, and come back to the U.S in a bad situation. It's a very slim to no chance of getting a job with the state department and get stationed in Ghana. Be patient for now. But if you are going to move there, you should start taking steps towards that goal right now, and not make it a sudden decision.
