  1. I’m not in a name check as far as I know but I do have a question that maybe will help.

When you file for AOS does that mean they stop processing your I-130? I kinda assumed that’s what happens but if not then you can file AOS and see which gets approved first.

I haven’t heard anything about my I-130 though and I applied in 2005.

  2. I love this list! I know some of my most missed foods were mentioned already but these are what I want the most right now!

    McCain International Pizza

    Skor bars

    Ketchup and All Dressed chips

    Poutine

    Cheese Curds

Cheeze Whiz…oh my gosh I miss this. I can’t find it anywhere and I just stopped asking because every time I do the people are like “oh cheese in a can” and I’m like “no that’s disgusting”

I really miss Harvey’s too and of course Tim Hortons and Kelseys.

I never really thought much about the milk in a bag. I know you can’t get it here but it hasn’t really bothered me.

This is a great thread but it makes me miss home lol.

  3. I don't think K-1 or K-3 goes quicker. It's just the luck of the draw. I think it's great you guys have an EAD, AP, SS#, and Drivers license. You have everything you need to live and work and in the US. Be happy that you can live your life and just keep thinking positive about your AOS. It will be approved soon!

Just last year when I applied the wait time in Orlando was 2 years!!! Now it is close to 6 months so they are really getting faster over here.

  4. Look at my timeline. I filed end of October and was last touched Jan. 20th. I haven’t been worried at all about my application. I just figure it’s in a pile on someone’s desk. I am also in no hurry to get my green card because as of June 24th I will be married for 2 years and will get the 10 year green card.

If you have EAD and AP I wouldn’t worry too much about your AOS right now. Give it another month or so and if no touches then make an infopass. Or if you feel you must know then make an infopass now :)

Good luck to you and if you make the infopass let us know it goes!

  5. This may be a silly question but I’m a worry wart. Do traffic tickets have any effect on your AOS? I just got a ticket on Friday for a “rolling stop”. I was so annoyed and pointed out that I did stop and the cop said “legally you need to stop for 3 seconds” which I know, but have not actually counted to 3 when I stop since I was 16. I have a clean record, no tickets, no accidents, etc. Will this have an impact on my AOS?

Thanks so much for the comments.

  6. I’m starting to get a little annoyed because every time I check my status online it says my case is pending at the California Service Center. When I go to the processing times for California it doesn’t even list I-485 family based. It only lists I-485 employment based and those are backed up from Sept. 2005 right now.

Is there anyway to check what dates they are currently processing right now?

    Thanks for your help.

  7. Hello,

I entered the US on a K3 visa in April 2006. I went to the Melbourne DMV in Florida in May 2006. I showed up with my passport, K3 visa, Ontario drivers license and birth certificate. They took my Canadian (Ontario) license and gave me a Florida license which expires April 2008 (same date as when my K3 visa expires). They told me once I get my NOA for AOS I can bring it in and they will extend my license to the standard issue. Not really sure how long that is but probably 2-5 years.

They didn’t say anything about only being able to drive for 6 months. You can only stay in the US for 6 months though so maybe that’s where they were going with that. They did take away my Ontario license tough. Said it was illegal to have 2 licenses.

    Hope that helps

  8. I am not sure what TOS is so not sure if I am violating anything.

As for the positions being in different locations....Jacksonville is the headquarters so you may work from Jacksonville but work for another location.

I didn't know anything about requiring Citizenship but that is possible for positions that work with the government. In my office we have about 4 immigrants that our adjusting status at the moment.

  9. Hello Everyone!

This isn’t AOS related but does have to do with employment after you get your EAD!

My company Reynolds, Smith and Hills, Inc. has been doing some major growth in the past 3 years and we are still going strong. We currently have over 100 open positions in the following areas: Aerospace/Defense, Aviation, Commercial, Institutional, Public Infrastructure, Transportation and Construction Services in the offices across America with a few new offices in the New Year. We are looking for Engineers, Architects, Landscape Architects, Interior Designers, HR Personnel, etc. You don't have to be registered in the States either. I went to school in Canada for Architectural Technology and I'm not registered in the US. They offer good benefits and relocation assistance.

It’s a great company to work for and has been around since 1941. I have been with the company for 4 months now. I have posted the website for you to go visit. If you or anyone you know would be interested just send me a pm and I will get your resume and submit it to HR! Employee referrals are greatly appreciated in our HR department.
