  1. Thanks for the explanation. I couldn’t get to a computer this weekend to check the responses.

I assumed that it meant I would be having an interview soon but I still haven’t got anything in the mail or any touches. I really hope I don’t have to do another medical! I thought if you had applied before your medical was one year old then you were good and didn’t need another one. I’m sure I would get an RFE if that is the case though.

I think I will give it a couple more weeks and if there aren’t any touches I will make an infopass while I’m on vacation.

  2. Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has been in the same situation as me and how it turned out.

As you can see from my timeline, I applied for AOS in October 2006. I was then transferred to CSC. I found out on May 8, 2007 that my case is being transferred back to the National Benefits Center. It has been sitting there ever since without any touches.

Do you think they lost it or did I just go back to the bottom of the pile? I’m not sure if I should set up an infopass or just wait it out.

Any help into the situation would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  3. Sorry I should have been more specific.

I just meant that just because you got transferred to CSC does not mean this will be the last step for you. As you can see from my timeline, I was transferred to CSC and though I was done. I thought I would get my greencard in a couple months without an interview. They just sent me a notice that I have now been transferred to the National Benefits Center.

I wish you the best at CSC but I didn’t want you to get your hopes up thinking that this is the last step or you won’t have an interview. Anything can happen in AOS filing even at CSC.

  4. If you have had chicken pox you don't need the vaccine. Just tell them you have had it and if they don't believe you ask to get your titers checked.

I didn't have to get the flu vaccine because it wasn't "flu season" when I got my supplemental form filled out.

Good luck on figuring out the wonderful world of vaccines :)

You also have the option of signing a waiver and therefore you don't need any vaccines if it is for religious purposes but this costs money.

  5. I know how you feel about being ripped off by a doctor. I am from Canada so have never had to think about what doctors make from their patients but since moving here my eyes are WIDE OPEN. I paid $75 for my vaccination supplement and I did not even see the doctor. The nurse filled out the form and came back with it signed.

I would love a job where I could make $50 in 5 min and not even have to say Hi to my client! But, I am not a doctor.

I’m sorry you got ripped off and if you feel the need to report him then I would do just that!

  6. I have a diploma in Architectural Technology which was based in Ontario. The laws in Ontario state that I can design, draft, and seal for certain classes of buildings up to 3 stories or 900 meters squared. Well as you can guess, that position doesn't exist in the US. I had a hard time finding a job but finally got into a firm down here that allows me to work in my field. I mainly just draft and do administrative duties. In order to be at the same income level I was at in Ontario, I would need to go back to school here and do a 4 year degree. I am sad that I spent all the time and money on my education in Canada that is useless here but I didn't have much choice if I wanted to live with my husband lol.

I am now thinking of just going back to school in a few years for Direct Entry Midwife. I figure that I'm not going back to school for another 4 years to get the same degree that I already have in Canada so I'm going to try something new.

Moving to another country is just one of those things you can't avoid. Some careers transfer and some don't. Unfortunately my career didn't quite transfer the way I hoped.

  7. Hello,

I received an e-mail this afternoon that says my case has been transferred to the National Benefits Center for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. You will be notified by mail if a decision is made or we need anything from you blah blah blah….

So, what does this mean? I live in Orlando and my case was transferred to the California Service Center awhile ago and now it’s going back to the National Benefits Center?

    Thanks for your help.

  8. Are you asking if you can get out of being called back to the Marines? I don't think you can get out of that. You signed a contract. My husband is also in the IR and if he gets called back there is nothing you can do about it.

As far as loosing your job. I am really sorry about that and it's too bad you aren't protected under the law.

You will be making an income in the marines though so your wife shouldn't have to worry. She will also be covered under your benefits.

  9. Hello,

You are pretty much in the same situation I was in. I entered the US on a K3 April of 2006. We applied for a EAD before we applied for AOS because we just couldn’t afford the application fee for the AOS. You can apply for AOS as soon as possible. Don’t worry about waiting 6 months or so but I wouldn’t leave it too long.

The I-130 will still be processing until you apply for your AOS. Once you apply for AOS, they will stop processing your I-130 but you don’t need to do anything for that.

That stamp on your passport shows that she entered on March 21st 2007 with a K3 visa and her visa expires on March 20th 2009. I have the same one in my passport.

You can PM me if you have any questions. Check out my timeline too.

  10. Hello Everyone,

I just have a general question that I was hoping some people could post their experiences. How long after you applied for AOS did it take to get an RFE?

I applied in October 2006 and our case was transferred to California. I’m wondering if I could still get an RFE or if that normally happens within a few weeks of applying.

Also one more question….My husband and I will be married for 2 years on June 24th 2007. If my green card doesn’t get issued until lets say June 30th 2007 then will I get the 10 year card?

    Thanks all for your input!

  11. I applied for a K-3 and crossed the border a few times while it was being processed. I never had a problem except for the last time and I think the reason it was a problem is because I actually crossed the border in a car with my husband and all the other times it was my dad driving me over to Detroit to catch a flight to Florida.

We were held up for close to an hour and asked every question under the sun. It was really scary and to be honest all I brought was a complete copy of my K-3 application/supporting evidence and my passport. I didn’t have any evidence of ties to Canada. I just kept telling them that it would be really dumb to not come back since I’m doing everything legally and should have my visa in a couple months.

We had to be questioned by 4 different officers and then finally the last one said “ok I believe you will come to Canada, have a good trip”

Overall it was a scary experience because I thought they wouldn’t let me into the states and my husband would have to go without me. We did get through though and like I said before….this only happened once in about 8 months.
