dragi reacted to AandD in CROATIA
Mene ceka agonija sredjivanja hrvatskih papira. Konzulat u NY je grozan. Chicago i Washington su ok, ali je meni NY najblizi.
Meni su rekli da trebas doci osobno u konzulat i izvaditi putni list. S tim mozes uci jednokratno u Hrvatsku i tamo srediti papire.
Ja ovih dana saljem sve za US putovnicu jer sam US drzavljanin.

Državljanstvo ne gubiš, samo prebivalište (koje je vezano uz to da li imaš pravo na osobnu iskaznicu). Novu putovnicu možeš tražiti u bilo kojoj ambasadi i treba ti stara putovnica i mislim ništa drugo. Pročitaj si ovdje više detalja: http://www.mvep.hr/hr/konzularne-informacije/putne-isprave/putovnica/

dragi reacted to Lowlie in November 2015 Interviews
It's just my opinion...but looking at the status over and over and over again seems pointless and only adds to the stress.
One day we see 3 N/A, another day we see "PAID" the next day it's 3 N/A again...but what difference does that make if we know for a fact we have case complete?
One day we see "in transit", another day it says, "at NVC", another day it says "Ready" then "at NVC again"..We know our appointment date and time, so we need to focus on preparing and showing up on time.
How many people have shown up at their scheduled appointment and been told their case isn't complete yet, or they're still at NVC or still in transit? Not likely.

dragi reacted to NikLR in Green card production after ELIS
No ones green card can be waiting for them before they enter the USA for the first time after obtaining an immigrant visa.
When you enter the USA your visa will be endorsed by the CBP at the POE. When your visa is endorsed it becomes a temporary green card valid for 1 year from entry date. (read the visa.) When you enter the CBP do some paperwork and send your visa package to the USCIS. The USCIS will match up your visa package with your ELIS account and fee. After they do this, which takes from 1-3 months approximately, then they will produce the card and mail it to you.
You can use the temporary green card, aka endorsed visa, to do anything you would be able to do with a regular hard copy green card.
I hope that helps.
to everyone in this thread - please take some time to read over the thread. There is a lot of valuable information in here. I will no longer be on the website to help out, answer questions, or maintain this thread in any way, shape, or form. Best of luck to you all.

dragi got a reaction from ZaakirahM in November 2015 Interviews
And staying! No more coming and leaving! Yeah the interview was fairly straightforward. They did ask quite a lot of questions but most of them pretty standard. No trick questions or anything, lol. The lady wad very nice. In the end she didn't really tell me if I'm approved or not, instead she just gave me some paperwork and told me I should read it because it contains useful information for when I move to the US. Lol!
Got my visa today too, along with the sealed, huge and really awkwardly shaped immigration package.
I plan to write a more extensive review as soon as I get some time.
Thank you VJ, you made this journey a lot less painful than it could have been. And a special thank you to the resident patrons, you know who you are.

The "READY" status means that the Embassy/Consulate has received your packet from DHL and has physically scanned it into their system. So I think you're ready to ace that interview!

Thanks for the reply!
Japanese police certificate was in an envelope and sealed. When the seal is broken, the certificate would be invalid. So I had to send the original. I've asked NVC via phone and the lady I spoke to told me that I don't need to bring another one. I'm waiting for my P4 letter now.

I'm glad they actually had an interview, because more than 1 rep told us they didn't even have Croatia's slots to schedule. He called today to see if there was any update on the Expedite email and was surprised with an interview time.
I'm very glad it is only 3 weeks today, but I hope it goes well and he is approved. I have a MRI soon to see which direction my treatment needs to go. So it's nice to think that he will be here in just a couple months and I will be able to get the help I need. Even nicer to think he won't have to leave after a couple weeks like he always has!

dragi reacted to Lowlie in October 2015 Interviews
I just got off the phone from my once per week, Friday call to NVC. I talked to the nicest, most chatty, informative rep I've ever connected with! He said September interviews were in fact NOT finished being scheduled until today. I told him I'd heard they finished up last week. He said he's actually one of the people who does scheduling, and he scheduled a couple of interviews for September just yesterday, so he's in a position to say without a doubt, they're only just wrapping it up. He also explained that a few people still will get a September interview after all. because embassies do get interview cancellations, which frees that slot up for someone else.
As for October scheduling, he said in the past few days there's been very little, as they aren't going to get rolling on October scheduling until next Tuesday, after the Labor Day Weekend. As for this week, he said the majority of embassies haven't even given NVC their open slots yet.
Since he was so talkative, I told him various information I've read from users in VJ. He laughed and said he's been where I'm at now, and the advise he can give me is to take everything I read in VJ with a grain of salt.
The last thing he told me was that he appreciates positive, considerate callers, so he's happy to give those callers more of his time. He said a lot of callers are impatient, curt, sometimes tearful, and often rude. He said callers like that get as little information from a rep as the rep can give, because the callers demeanor makes the reps want to just get off the phone.

It really sucks falling in love with someone from another country. I wish that there were no liars and then we wouldn't have to go through so much red tape.
My husband and I have only been able to see each other for just a few short weeks every year for the past 5 years.
My oldest is starting to go through puberty and could really use his dad and our almost 4 year old barely knows what his dad looks like outside of a video chat.
My husband didn't even get to be at his birth or meet him until he was 2 months old. He was a preemie and the tickets had already been bought assuming he'd be born full term.
So it's hard on all of us who have to be separated from our loved ones, and it is completely unfair.
I dream for the day when we no longer have to say goodbye and my children don't have to grow up without their dad.

Cestitam!

Oh I finally have access to pay! Paid the AOS and IV fees today, have had the bills for a little less than a week. Glad I didn't have to mail them after all.
