  1. Just the beneficiary has an interview

You'll receive a letter letting you know what you need to bring (I did for the London embassy) - proof of approved petition (they didn't even ask for it at the interview), I-134 and supporting docs. Passport pic of beneficiary, birth certificate, proof of payment, ds-160.

Not sure for Canada but uk was just a few questions and that's it.

Yes - Wet signature not a copy,

  2. I know the 221g was just asking for extra documents. In our case it was just his police report that came back completely clean, it just was delayed for some odd reason. I understand if they would give us AP if there was a crime on his record but his was completely clean so it looks like they were making sure he didnt commit a crime.

It's all well and good saying you want you your family there, you want to give a lot of notice, you need it for school and so on and so forth. That doesn't change the fact that nothing is set in stone. Likelihood of him going into AP, probably isn't very strong. However that doesn't give you the right to just go off on members who are here to try and help. Understandable if somebody was rude but nobody was. You may not like/agree with the answers you get, you just need to realise that theses members are just trying to prevent you from setting yourself up for a fall!!

This is the first very small step in the K1 journey. Let's just hope that from here on out you're able to do this process all but yourself and you do not have any questions. With this attitude there aren't gonna be many that would help. Yelling at people and acting as if you're the only person who wants their family to be at their wedding is not the way to go.

Don't listen to anybody's opinion on here, like you said, your opinion is the best one. How about just listening to the U.S. Embassy, they tell you not to make any wedding plans or non refundable travel plans until you get your visa in hand.

But hey, you know best! Your opinion is best.

Everybody is here to help, no put you down.

  4. You offered sound advice. But you shouldn't conclude that the "differences seem to be more on his side." You don't know his side of the stories. He's merely the one pulling the plug.

OP, I hope you 2 can work it out. The Visa is what all the struggles have been for. It is supposed to be the means to end the pain of waiting. I recommend the 2 of you reconcile your differences & then you come on the Visa. If you can't figure it out within 90 days, just return to your home country. And whatever you do, DO NOT OVERSTAY.

That's what I meant by 'differences'. Issues I guess, as in it seems like he's the one that that doesn't want to continue the relationship. If that makes sense?

Wrong choice of words I guess, but yeah hopefully they can work through whatever seems to be the problem. Like you said, they've put all this work in, they've come all the way through to the last hurdle! Would be a huge shame if they couldn't work things out.

  5. So @laurieandphil..

If i get the visa and we dont use it on this trip in June 17. We can reapply from the start at a later date, without having any issues because we didnt get married previously on the K1 when i entered in June???

No. Once you get a Visa it will be in your passport. Once it's in there you HAVE to use it the next time you enter the states. If you still wish to get the visa and use it in June, don't forget you have three months to get married. You could spend the majority of that reconciling your differences (which seem to be more on his side) and then hopefully get married after that.

The other option could be, still go to interview next week. Get him to come here to see you as you have 6 months from the medical before you have to enter the states. That way you can spend time together, more than once (if he comes twice) and won't have to go through the long process again. If the distance has weighed heavily on your relationship this time, going through the process again isn't really gonna help now is it?

Those are my suggestions, hopefully you'll be able to figure out what you want to do before Monday.

P.s Is it really fair if you're the one flying to see him both the times (unless he is unable to come see you)?

  6. I put in my UK NI number, and I had no problems at all. Had my interview on Friday and I was approved.

The American people who process this will know whether to use it or ignore it.

What did they say to you about it? Or did it not get mentioned?

  7. not if you quote the reference on the confirmation page, i filled out two cause i got a new passport inbetween medical and interview.they had two and the woman asked me on interview day which one it was.

again this is purely if you think it may be necessary to

Oh ok!! That's fine then. I'll just do another one.

I literally just found this on the US London Embassy website

    http://london.usembassy.gov/ds160_faqs.html#ds160_013

Is the National Identification Number the same as my national insurance number?

No. UK citizens do not have one. You should mark this “Does not apply”

Wish I'd seen this before. No worries, I'll just do it again this evening.

  8. If in doubt fill out a new one and use the newer one in the interview. just remember the reference to quote it

Won't that be a bit of a ball ache though? And wouldn't it confuse things at their end? If I've done more than one?

  9. I was going to put my NI number in and happened to check against the guide and removed it. You should be able to explain when you get there. I do actually think that it should be in there as most countries have some sort of national identity number (USA has Social Security, we have NI ...) so I don't think it is wrong, just perhaps not necessary.

Yeah! This is exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure it even said on the form in the info bit at the side, something like, this is like the U.S. SSN.

Ah well. I guess I'll just have to explain that at the interview.

  10. Ok so I've only just seen this bit in the, K1 a complete guide, post

FYI: You do not have a national ID number. Tick "does not apply".

Ok so I just assumed they were asking for a number or reference number that would relate to you an only you. So me being me, I just thought well in a way that could be my NI number, so I put that in. Form didn't complain so didn't think anymore of it and just sent it off! Now I'm reading this and realise I was wrong.

Will this be a problem??? Is it easily rectified???

  11. yeah our lawyer had put in a service request and they informed us our case was sent out on march 18th. you think they would have better tracking, considering they have possession of individuals personal information.

MARCH 18!! Are you kidding me?!! Ok so I'm guessing the likelihood of your case being sent to NRC is VEEEERY likely. There was a post stat was started back in October, not sure what it was titled! But a few people had their cases sent to NRC, so maybe there may be some answers in there of what to do!

If I find it I'll post it here.

Oh wait!! The link thatangela posted is the one!

  12. Would it be better to just answer the direct question of how we met in person, and then writing a separate attachment to include with the package that has the information of our relationship, history and future plans? Since my fiancee is from Iran I feel as though I should give them more details about how we met, etc.

You seriously don't need to put all of that in it.

On 01.01.2015 I met **** at a bar in Chicago. We've kept in touch since then.

Something as simple as that I'm sure is enough. When you add a page of pictures, that shows you've met at least twice (within the past two years). Say 4 to 6 pictures with names, dates and location that's more than enough!

  13. so was it 47 days from when uscis approved it .. or sent it ... cause when we called them they mentioned it being send on the 18th.. even tho we were approved the 2nd.

From when they approved it to when they received it at NVC. From what my fiancé could gather from the rep when he placed the service request, it was just sitting there waiting to be sent. There was no reason why it hadn't been sent, it just hadn't been sent. So once they obviously knew we were checking up on it, they pulled their fingers out and actually sent it!

I seriously believer if we hadn't put in the service request, it would still be there now! And now my case is on its way to the embassy.

  14. Just to add I am not in the military(I'm the U.S.citizen)nor is hubby, but I have been reading these boards for a few years and I have read many times of military couples getting an expedite. Perhaps an advanced search at the top right of the page would yield results. Search for military expedite or similar phrases and words

Thank you very much for your responses!!

Hopefully he won't get deployed, it would make things so much easier and obviously he wouldn't be over in Afghanistan!

Just checked my status on CEAC and it says 'in transit', so all being well could be over by July. Still worried about the whole AOS situation though. So if we do get final concrete evidence that he's getting deployed then, expediting the AOS will have to be our option.

There's no way for me fly before I adjust is there?

  15. Hey guys,

So me and my fiancé got approved March 2nd and still no case number! We even sent in a request to our congressman on Monday ( not sure how long that will take) our wedding is sept 5 th and we are freaking out that we won't have the visa in time :( and at that point it will be a year and a half :( anyone else in the same boat.....????

    Thanks,

    Alicia

I've not had to wait as long as you as mine was received in I think it was 47 days. Still a long time whichever way you wanna look at it!

What date did you put the service request in? The only time anything was done with ours was when my fiance put in the service request. I think rlt8990 is 100% right. If both Centers are saying they don't then CSC more than likely sent it to the research center.
