  1. I'm surprised. Are you sure that these were real immigration officers? I didn't know they could do such thing on foreign grounds. Even here the government needs a warrant to check your phone, so surely they do not have any rights to do that in Ghana. Perhaps, if they had been that vigilant in other countries with the visa process as they are in Ghana, then we wouldn't have a terrorist attack a few weeks ago. as

  2. You have to be the change you want to see, so I want to do an official petition to review practices at the embassy in Ghana. I was talking with a friend who used to work in D.C. for a government office and she said she would draft the petition for me. I want to be do an official petition to the US government to review the practices at the embassy in Ghana. Do you all think it would receive the 100,000 signatures to receive a official response?

  3. If Ghana has high fraud then they need to add additonal qualifications for the type of proof they are looking for in the instructions when you apply. Ask for specific evidence and take the mystery out of the situation. Don't let people submit forms from the generic list of requirements. Obvioulsy, those requirements are not adequate for most African countries. If the burdern of proof is going to be at a higher standard , just state it up front. Then people can prepare to give more information than what is required for the filing. Let petitioners know up front, and not wait until 2 years later at the interview can claim fraud. Because waiting for almost 2 years later and then getting a denied without providing an answer why is anguish. So of course people are going to be pissed.

  4. I think all interviews should be recorded, because the Ghana embassy is notorious for denying K1 and CR1 visa. I think their system is very biased. If you look through the department of state website, most of the African countries have romance fraud warning posted, yet they are not posted on other countries website. I think this is a clear bias and people are being discriminated against. I would like to see the number of denials the Ghana embassy has compared to approvals. The system clearly needs to be fixed. Why turn in all the documentation and and wait a year and a half or so to have someone turn you down on a hunch or feelings. Secondly, there needs to be a post review process. Why should one person be allowed to reset the whole entire process. The system is already slow and congested. Sending it back to the US for 6 more months of waiting is beyond ridiculous.

US immigration operates at the 3rd world country pace. It's truly sad.

  5. I have contacted one of my senators and I'm waiting on a response. I did not mention that they are tax funded employees. I highlighted the rude behavior that is ongoing at the embassy and the complaints of many. Regardless of how they are funded, they are still are still federal workers and they represent the US at the embassy. It's torture enough waiting months on end for an interview, so there no need for the mind games at the interview.

  6. Amen to that!! The CO actually asked me why I came so many times to see my Fiancé...now husband. It's just sad the entire thing. I had been 3 times in 11 months and she really had the balls to ask why? Frustration I tell you!!!

My CO asked me the same thing. I applied for a K1 visa first and was denied. I had already purchased a dress, deocrations, shoes, etc. So we just moved the wedding to Ghana since we were going to be married regardless. She she said she just didn't understand why I would spend 3 years trying to get my husband to the be with me. Good luck with the I-130. I pray it goes better than mines.

  7. I hope you don't mind me printing out yours and other experiences so I can reach out to elected officials. These outrageous incidents need to be exposed! I instructed my wife not to sit there and be robotic but rebuff any nonsense they spew at her during her interview. We have a 9month old who lives in Gh as well and so if she's gonna sit there like a tree and take some nonsense that her marriage is not real, then it's on her. They would expect our spouses to start screaming In their faces to get the message across. How dare they after all those evidence presented sit there and insult your marriage as fake and you just walk out of there quiet? Sometimes our polite culture fail us I tell you. Ghana wake up and start confronting these tools!

I don't mind if it helps. Fell free. I typed the first response on my phone, so it's racked with crazy typos!

  8. I feel your pain. The same exact thing happened to my husband yesterday. He was died and I got a 221g. It's truly a waste of our time. More waiting. It's really so annoying. It was a black lady who did the interview. I met my husband on a vacation trip. I have friends there that I went to school with in the states. Just met him on the beach. So when she asked how we met, he told her. She was asking question like it's not normal for ladies to travel alone. I sent some items to my hubby's nieces and she saw coloring books on some of the slips I submitted. She was why would I be sending those types of things. She asked about our wedding photo. We had a church wedding and we did a wedding dance at the end. She ask why we were dancing in church it seems odd. She ask a lot of questions about my ex and my child. Then said that it all just doesn't make sense to her and it seemed like a contract marraige. She did very littel questioning and made a lot of ignorant statements. My husband said the lady was very unprofessional and during the interview she was doing something under her desk and mumbling something. At one one point he asked her is she was talking to him. I have no idea what is going on at the US Embassy in Ghana, but they really need to get it together.

  9. Well . . . I'm just waiting on the NVC. I paid my NVC fee, but can proceed to pay the IV fee. This is all so annoying. We have so much technology, yet this process seems oh so antiquated. It really annoys me when politicians equate immigrations issue to sealing the border! The issue is more complex than that. They jump the border because they're freaking tired of waiting in line! Rant over.

    Hope I hear something soon.

  10. My case was processed at Nebraska also and the same thing happened to me. Mines was approved Sept 23 and then got a 2nd message shipped on Oct 15. I have not received anything at all from NVC, but I have been calling them. They said they received my file on October 23, but I do not have a case number because they are behind and it could take up to 46 D A Y S to get a case number. You may want to call them and check up on your case. Maybe the Nebraska office is not doing something correctly.

  11. I am beyond frustartated with this enitre process. My I-130 was approved on September 23. I had to call because it was beyond the 5 month timeframe. I was told my file would be sent to NVC in a week. So, I waited. Then on October 15 I received a message that my file was sent to NVC. :ranting: Why did it take more than 1 month for my file to be sent to NVC. So I called NVC and she said they received my file on October 23 , but they did not have a case number. So I've been calling every week and yet I still do not have case number. She says they are really behind and it could take up to 46 days to get a case number. I am livid. Why it take so long!!!! My patience is surely about to expire. At this point it may be easier just to pack it up and move to his country. To be a developed country, our immigration system is really 3rd world caliber!!!!!

Sorry for the rant, but is anyone else having issues wtih NVC?
