  1. 11/9/2021 Submitted 12/12/2021 Passport Arrived 12/15/2021 Passport Card Arrived Still waiting on Naturalization Cert to get returned. Interestingly my US passport was approved with a photo that was rejected when used on a UK passport app at the same time, so they must be way more relaxed here with photo requirements. So it took about 5 weeks from application to receiving passport in hand with standard process, not the 18 weeks they told me at the post office, not bad at all in the end.
  2. This. If you decide not to do this, kiss goodbye to ever having your daughter or son in law visit you on the holidays again. Having been in that situation (as the immigrant son in law, whose wife was at university when we got married), I'll never forgive her aunt who talked her uncle out of co-sponsoring at the 11th hour (and before anyone asks about my wifes parents and why they didn't sponsor, one is not a us citizen and lives overseas, the other one died in a very traumatic incident during the filing process). We were put in a last minute situation of having to decided to a) have my wife drop out of university, abandon all scholarships and get a low paying job b) us leaving the country or c) find a last minute co sponsor. Thankfully we were able to do c) our half brother in law sponsored me, and I got citizenship last weekend. The likelyhood of your university educated son in law ever needing you to pay a cent to the government is slim to none.
  3. I Guess my process starts today, I was told at the post office (Northern VA) it could take up to 18 weeks (standard process, I would have done expedited but was using a check of my wifes as I don't have a checkbook, its 2021 after all). Let's hope she was wrong.
  4. And the ordeal is finally over. Citizenship acquired, registered to vote, passport time booked in on Tuesday. Now, to ever visit USCIS offices ever again.
  5. I was approved at Fairfax, VA yesterday. Very straight forward, ceremony on Nov 6. Congrats to others who were approved same day. - interviewer had a heavy accent, wore mask and didn't face me when asking questions, and often would ask single word questions, which even as a native english speaker made it hard for me to understand. Once he said "Married?" and it sound like he was saying "Email?" - I found that by repeating his question before answering prevented misunderstandings. - I got one question wrong in civics (first one) before the next 6 right, completely blanked out on what were the rights provided by declaration of independence (life, liberty, happiness) - was asked if I'd provided weapons to others (which I had to clarify as I'd literally gone with my wife to the shooting range a week earlier), interviewer and I had a laugh about that one. - he had my entire copy of all paperwork I'd ever sent, and really appreciated that we'd sorted out each part of evidence with tabs from the orginal AOS and ROC filings, said that because of how well organized he really didn't need to ask me much. All in all very easy process, can't wait till the 6th when it's all over and I'll never have to think about USCIS ever again.
  6. Did they offer same day ceremony, if not do you know when the next ceremonies are?
  7. I had one there in 2018 no problem, assuming that to be the case and I'll have one with me when I do my interview tomorrow!
  8. Interview scheduled Oct 28 in Fairfax, VA. Thankfully this will all be over soon.
  9. No updates from USCIS, but purchased a house + moved, so time to fill our an AR-11 to keep USCIS updated.
