  1. Good evening

I am not on the list but here is my timeline:

    Date filed 10/19/2017 VSC

    NOA1 10/28/2017

    Transferred to TSC 11/23/2018

    Approved 01/03/2019

    No N400 extension or 551 stamp.EAC18024002**

I was in the process of arranging a 551 stamp as i was told back in November that another 18 month extension would be sent out before the expiration of my i751, but never received it. Guess now i don't need it, but will be starting the N400 very shortly as i want to be done with this process.

Today is the first day we can file the I-751 so currently putting together our package.  We seem to have everything in order in terms of evidence, a lot of strong initial evidence with joint leases, joint bank statements, joint utilities, joint insurance, power of attorney etc.

The only thing we are stumped on is affidavits from people who have known both of us since my conditional residence.  Is this an essential item?  We're not particularly social people due to husband being a disabled veteran and he is no contact with his family.

Also, I know the form says to submit everything since marriage but everything we had since marriage was submitted as part of an RFE we received at interview, so would we need to submit those items again?  I'm presuming yes because things get lost or missed.

    Thanks in advance :)

I would not sweat it. My research suggested the affidavits are a nice to have but not required. Evidence such as joint utilities, loan agreements, joint accounts and tax returns carry more weight. It seems you have more than enough without having to resort to affidavits. I did not submit any affidavits and received my first NOA a couple of days back. If at a later date they need more then i will quite happily provide. As far as duplicating evidence is concerned, if the evidence is relevant then send it again. My focus was on getting the extension, which i received, if they want more proof then i will bore them senseless with further evidence. Don't let the affidavit issue delay your application.

  4. This is a numbers game. If you satisfy the qualifying criteria with what you are sending in. i.e. W2s from your husband and his mum exceed the qualifying condition then you need not over subscribe. Just send in the evidence needed to satisfy the condition. When I filed for AOS I submitted my wife's w2 along with proof of savings; since we did not qualify on income alone. Try not to sweat it :)

  5. Hi, exciting times for you both. :) the proper way would be to undertake a K1 Visa route. Technically, coming over on the VWP and getting married could cause problems but it seems it is taken on a case by case basis. Risky stuff nevertheless. I did the K1 route and yes, it takes time but when you are talking about spending a lifetime together with your beloved, it's worth doing things by the book to make sure there is no possibility of refusal.

As far as a Lawyer is concerned, you don't need one if you go by the book. This site contains all the information you need for a successful application. As long as you follow the process explicitly and provide what they need then it will run smoothly. Myself and my fiancé completed our respective forms and had each other QA each others work.

Seriously, don't risk it; the time soon passes and whilst it is processing you can still visit each other.

  6. I also work in IT (More on the networking and virtualization side). The RTP region in North Carolina is one of the areas I'm strongly considering in addition to Austin and DFW Texas. Although I received my GC in August I won't be relocating to the US until possibly the 2nd quarter of 2016. Can you give any feedback on the IT job market in Raleigh and what if any any challenges you've had as a foreigner. I've being probing sites like Dice and Indeed and RTP area has jobs that match my background (10 years experience, CCNP, VCP certified, Msc in Network security from the UK etc) but I don't have any idea what it's really like on the ground.

    Hi

The IT job market around the RTP area is incredibly buoyant.

I started my job search 2 weeks ago looking for Windows Systems administrator positions, having worked for UK police forces for 14 years. The IT recruitment agency business around Raleigh is cutthroat and they literally fall over themselves trying to fill positions as quickly as possible. I had so many things in the pipeline that I hid my Monster profile after a week. The past week I got called for two interviews and got offered both jobs.

With your experience and qualifications I'm sure you will have no problem in finding employment. Just make sure your Resume, LinkedIn and any other profiles you create are faultless, as they do research you and a 2 page resume is very restrictive! (I put a link to my LinkedIn profile on my resume)

Strangely enough I got a job contracting at CISCO. The agency CISCO use to fill positions is called Experis who provide over 1000 staff for CISCO at the RTP campus. They may be worth contacting when you arrive over here. Good luck.

  7. I work in IT and recently received my Employment authorisation through. This was the method I used.

    1) Update your LinkedIn profile, make sure it is fully complete. Ask previous work colleagues for recommendations if possible.

    2) On your resume, include a link to your LinkedIn profile so employers or Agencies can find out more about you if they want to. Make sure your resume is as polished as possible.

3)Register with ZipRecruiter and Monster.com and any others you think are relevant. If they give the option to upload your resume or create another profile then do so. Make sure it is complete.

    4) In some job adverts on jobsites you will see links to send a resume now through their own system. However, if the job description gives you a contact at the company or agency then email them directly and always include a cover letter or at the very least a professional email. They are more likely to respond to a personal email than to a resume submitted by monster.com.

I hope the above is of some use and good luck.

  8. Hi

I let the HMRC know via the P85 form that I had moved to the states along with parts 2 and 3 of my P45. The main reason was that I am due a tax refund and wanted to make sure they had my new address. Also, further along the line, when I claim my state pension I want to ensure they have my contact details. So not a necessity, but it ties up loose ends.

    Cheers

    Paul

  9. I moved over from the UK just over 3 weeks ago and found for me the loss of identity strange. We all build an identity based on what we do and who we interact with. To suddenly have that removed was unsettling.

For me, hiring a car for a month has been a god-send as I have not only gained driving experience but also been able to drive myself to apply for a SS number, grocery store and various DIY shops. Opening a checking account yesterday and applying for a Credit card also is making me feel normal and that "I got this" I am skyping family once a week and so far am not feeling homesick; although am overjoyed when I find some of my home comforts over here!

Under NC law I can drive on my UK license for 60 days, so will probably hire a car for another month. I am going to join a gym next week so am trying to keep the flow going. I work in IT as a career so will be doing some home study to increase my skills.

I have already decided to accept I will not feel completely at ease for at least 12 months, possibly longer and so am able to let thoughts of uncertainty flow like eddies in a stream, although I do have the occasional worry session which is hard to shake.

I wish you well and am pleased you have found your park Oasis. Take each day as it comes and accept the feelings of being homesick are completely normal.

  10. Hi Guys FYI

I am on a K1 visa and yesterday opened up a checking account and applied for a Secured Credit card through BB&T bank. I was asked for two forms of picture ID. (UK driving license and Passport) I also provided my SS number which I had applied for a week earlier as further ID.

The credit card is by invitation only and you have to ask for it as it is not part of their general Credit card range, but is designed for those who have no credit. I was told that in 6 months, If I pay the repayments that I should be able to be transferred onto their unsecured card.

The process was painless. BB&T is not available in all states however.

    Cheers P

  11. I used Transferwise to move approximately 135k in small chunks. All the payments reached the intended account and the process is ridiculously easy. I have not used the other methods but can recommend Transferwise. I was moving around 15k at a time. I could have gone larger but played at a level I felt comfortable. They also offer excellent rates.

  12. I am so sorry that your dream has turned into a nightmare. I really think you need to ascertain your husbands intentions and if he wants a divorce then if he is any sort of a gentleman he should pay for your fare home.

If you don't have the money and your husband will not pay then it may be worth a call to the UK consulate to discuss your options. Here is a link to the office in New York. https://www.gov.uk/government/world/organisations/british-consulate-general-new-york

  13. Hello

I feel for your plight. I survived TSC at a time when there was no chance of a transfer. All you can do is just go day by day. Speak on Skype if you can and arrange a visit if at all possible. I personally found great comfort in reading the experiences of others who were not only going through the TSC experience, but more importantly had survived it. Yes it is a shame about the huge disparity in processing times but it is what it is, and to get frustrated about the apparent unfairness, no matter how warranted, will only wear you out. I survived TSC and the rest of the process was pretty painless. So hang in there, it will happen. If it gets to much then feel free to vent on VJ.

    Good luck

  14. Hello

I had a healthy 5 1/2 month wait for the Texas service center but it did get through eventually. You are two months down, they are shipping out work to the other centers, so hopefully the July date will not slip. You have no guarantee that if you cancel and resubmit that the new one won't end up being kept at the TSC for processing; so you may just end up extending your wait!

Hang tight, things will move. Once you are through that stage the rest of the process is pretty quick.

    Good luck.

  15. Hello, your English is a lot better than my Japanese!

    1) Reading the HHS poverty guidelines for 2015 I note that the distinction for qualifying for the Lower 100% rate is as follows. "For sponsors on active duty in the US armed forces who are petitioning for their spouse or child"

Firstly, I don't believe you will be at the stage where you need to provide proof of income. (Interview stage via the I-134) whilst your fiancé is still serving and secondly; I don't know if a fiancé is treated the same as a spouse.

    2) That is a yearly requirement.

    3) Your fiancé can notify the USCIS of a change of address whilst the I129F is being processed. Even if you don't get the NOA, you can still check your status online.

    Good Luck

    Paul

  16. Obviously give the Registrar in Surrey a call; but I would think that you can still go for your interview and explain to them what has happened. I am sure you will be able to send in a copy after the interview. True, you may not be officially approved on the day but supply the document and you should be good to go.

Coincidentally, I also have my interview this Thursday at 1pm..good luck.
