  1. Thanks so much,

I think we're just about set and I think this is my last question,

Do we need to provide financial evidence? For the K-1 I remember we had to send in some bank documents, tax transcripts, proof of employment that stated the position time worked there and if the job was permanent or not. etc...

Do we need to send all this in for AOS? I can't seem to find any information about it anywhere.

Just the W2s and most recent tax returns. I received an RFE because I sent W2s without the tax return from 2015. Also I did not make enough so I used my dad as a joint sponsor and because he files jointly with my mom she had to file the I-864A form. We all live under the same room but I did not combine my income with theirs because they do not claim me on their taxes and on my taxes I have not included them as my household.

I'd look into that a bit more because if you didn't file with your parents you shouldn't really include them as your household...maybe you can, but just be sure.

  2. You are a few weeks ahead of me... do you have biometrics in providence? And what field office does your case status say? Curious since I live near you and theres a chance we will be having the same road :)

Am still waiting for the Noa1 to get in the mail (got the text last saturday)

Yes, his biometrics was in Providence this morning. I believe our field office is still Boston however, that technically is the closest one but not sure, would that be on one of these documents we received?

  3. The interview is longer for married couples because not much is processed before the K-1 couple gets married. It's after the marriage happens that the real wait begins. It's all relative, once you get you interview and green card you are all set, those of us that did the K-1 route no that there is a LOT more to do after the interview and well after we get married.

You are comparing apples and oranges.

  4. Only if you have the luck that they have actually updated the website with your numbers. I'm still waiting to be able to check mine -_- "number not recognized" phooey!

Are you including the "MSC" part as well? I checked mine right after I received the email/text and it had been updated. Based on your timeline they should have that updated for you. They also have a call in service to check the status, or at least for them to advise why you aren't able to run status checks. I just say that because soon you will receive a Biometrics appointment and that number being active will be important.

  5. Hello!

I just received my NOA1 text and email and the hard copy ( Form I-797) should be here in 7-10 days. But should I be getting two more cases numbers to track my AOS, EAD, and AP separately? How do I know which case # is for AOS and the EAD/AP?

I feel so relieved to have a case number finally!

When you check each case number on USCIS.gov the status will let you know which number goes with which application. Two of mine were process 2/19 and the one was processed 2/29 but I received the confirmation email/texts on the same day, 3/1.

  6. I believe you have to wait till you get a letter about your biometrics appointment or an RFE.

Also, just out of curiosity when did you send your AOS packet in and when did you get your NOA1?

My packet was mailed between Feb 7th-12th, my husband sent it off and doesn't recall when during that week that he did.

I received the NOA1 on March 1st after nagging him for a couple of weeks that the NOA1 was taking much longer than the K-1 NOA1 and hoping that he didn't send it to the wrong place haha!

Just seems for AOS it takes a bit longer...

    Thanks for the info!

  7. Hey there fellow March AOSers!

We received a text message last night that our package was received and also received a case number beginning with MSC. I'm looking forward to this new "visa journey" with all of you other March filers. We were married in July so I guess you can say we've procrastinated a bit but now my husband has fully adjusted to life here, our son is off to daycare now and my husband is ready to work so we can expand our family...and maybe squeeze a vacation in back to DR this Fall? :)

I hope everything runs smoothly, nothing can be as stressful as that K-1 process!

  8. Yes, it makes sense what you said. Makes me feel a little better.

Now, with the shelter being so close to the house he is going to see me walking to school or walking anywhere!! I would feel so paranoid. And what if he sees me and gets in a rage and tries to hurt me? I understand that a restraining order is needed but I feel like just leaving far away from him.

Maybe going to a shelter in a different city.

Please just go to the shelter closest to you that handles DV. Once you are safe inside explain to them the close proximity to your husband's house and ask them to find another shelter in there network to move you to. They have the resources to find you a safe place further away.

Just get out and go to the shelter. You will be safer there than you are spending another second in that home.

  9. I don't want to know the reason why she was rejected twice for a tourist visa, but you might look at the reasons why and ask yourself if those same reasons will be used for a K1. She must have some red flags to get denied a tourist visa and a K1 isn't easier than a tourist (in my opinion)

This isn't necessarily true. Most people are denied tourist visas because they lack proof (enough money in the bank, property, family ties, good job, etc) they have the intention to return back to their country and not just use the tourist visa to stay in the U.S. after the timeframe expires.

K-1 and CR-1 are visas with the intention that the beneficiary will stay in the U.S., and proof of returning is not a factor in deciding if a beneficiary will be granted these types of visas.

  10. Fiance's visa was issued today!!! :dancing:

That's great news to hear! I came back just to check on you so I'm happy about this notification and knew it would be soon. My fiancé has now been here over a week and it's been such an adjustment process for the both of us but now we are getting into a natural swing. It's been so nice looking at him randomly like "wow, he's really here now." It's going to be such an amazing feeling picking up your fiancé and stepson from the airport, God's timing is always perfect.
