St Louis?? Where are you looking. NVC is in New Hampshire.

Hello all and Happy New Month:
There are many questions circulating about various time frames of case completes, appointment letters, checklist time frames etc. One thing that may really help everyone to understand time frames and remove some potential frustration is simply completing or updating your own timeline and follow people who are in your time frames/portal. When you follow someone who is in a similar time frame or ahead of you in their time frame then you will receive e-mail alerts when NVC is doing anything through their timeline information. This really helped me for the most part because I knew when I should expect activity from NVC and if I did not get anything within that time frame I would call (rare). Also chatting with others who are ahead or behind you in the timeline helps also. Thanks to all the VJ members who update their timelines and who actively chat and encourage others going through the process may God bless your journey and your marriage. Please make the best of VJ by updating your timeline and chat with others more often because Saylin and dwheels76 can not do it alone.
*General rule you should hear or have some activity from NVC at least once a month after your NOA2.* Check the timelines in your portal then proceed to call NVC. I promise this will save you a lot of energy and prevent some frustration.

Warri_Gurl reacted to Julie O in How long for NVC to review checklist?
    Hi everyone,
NVC sent me a checklist because they rejected the first Canadian police certificate I submitted. I mailed them one from the Quebec police but they requested one from the RCMP with fingerprints because I live overseas. The RCMP police certificate was delivered to them on June 24 and now I am just waiting for them to review it. I am starting to get very impatient as I haven't seen my husband since February and I was really hoping to move to the US this month but it's not going to happen
Has anyone else submitted documents for a checklist at the end of June and have your documents been reviewed yet? My husband contacted his congressman last Friday but I am not sure if they can really do much about this.
    Thanks,
    Julie

Whoa! You need to take this very seriously. Worry about it later?
That is a recipe for disaster and even a real chance that he will never be able to live here with you (at least not legally).
If you interviewed ONE attorney and didn't like them, keep looking....Im not sure what you mean by "all about the money"....yes professionals need to be paid. Good ones will end up saving you money. You cant expect them to work for free. However, you can check that they have fair rates by comparing them and going with recommended ones. You do not need them to be local to you as immigration law is federal so they can be anywhere in the country. Try Michael Cho in Los Angeles, his fees are really low compared to many others,...he knows what he is doing for complex cases (helped us), he replies efficiently to emails and calls, and he works over the internet and keeps all your docs scanned and accessible on the internet.
Why did he let his student visa expire? Is there something here he is not telling you? You need a lawyer and he needs to be 100% honest with them about his entire immigration and life history. Just getting married means nothing to USA immigration....if there are any other issues such as visa overstay, prior arrests, anything.....you are in for a lot of work and a long haul and an uncertain outcome.
    1. Take this very seriously and get to work on it right now. If his visa is expired, time may be of the essence here. The longer that he is here illegally with worse it is for you guys.
    2. Look here and other sites like immigrate2us.net and get a good lawyer....yes they cost money, but a good one is going to save you a lot of money, time, and stress in the long run.
    3. Ok, so his visa is expired? Im not sure, but I dont think a work permit is a visa. If his student visa is expired....that may mean he is already here illegally. In that case you may already need a waiver due to illegal presence...it depends..you need a good attorney to help you.
If you are not sure how serious this is, go to immigrate2us.net and check out other peoples stories...you are close to getting burned here if you are not already in a difficult situation.
Good luck...glad you asked here..please take this very seriously if you plan on living a life together in the USA.

You can go as a visitor to complete the course being that the course is less than 6 weeks long. You are correct sorry if you were confused please review the links for reassurance. No worries we all were confused once upon a time that's why we all are here!

I'm actully really happy about the update because it's a huge improvement from the 9+ months they initially had especially for places like Vermont, which now has the lowest processing time of all the offices. Thank God! And to think I dreaded the fact that I wasn't lucky enough to be sent to Texas...go figure. And at least now we can hold them to that 5 month mark if and when a service request is needed or required. Whether it's accurate or not, at least now it's official. Best news of the year so far for me!
