    CASE COMPLETE SINCE YESTERDAY!!!!
    AOS Scan date 9-Dic-2015.
Note that when AOS went from PAID to N/A was when my case was complete.
I didn't get an email, it was confirmed by phone.

I'm sure someone has already shared this before but it gives some insight into the NVC process:
    http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/AILA/AILA%20NVC%20November%202014.pdf
Some of the statistics were pretty surprising like the amount of post going in and out. And the amount of congressional inquiries. The article also says the phone system will be re-vamped in mid February although I won't hold my breath! Also says they are pushing to have all countries with electronic processing pending a software rollout in late 2015. I imagine that would eliminate a lot of issues (lost documents etc).
    FY 2014 Statistics:
    • 709,000 cases received from USCIS.
    • 99,000 current family-based petitions.
    • 349,000 cases shipped to Post.
    2.6 million total cases.
    • 1.4 million pieces of incoming mail.
    • 3.3 million pieces of outgoing mail.
    • 1.7 million written inquiries.
    • 1.6 million calls.
    • 98,000 Congressional inquiries.

you can fire the lawyer any time you want, just make sure you notify the USCIS and remove him from the case.

    1. way. Deal with it. Sorry to be harsh, but it is what it is.
    2. i'd be worried also. for a lawyer to suggest that a K-3 visa is a viable option, is so wrong on so many levels. I'd be worried about what other shennaigans she's doing with your casefile and other clients.
    3. well, there ya go.
    4. exactly. in fact, if you submit an I-129F after the I-130 receipt notice is received, it actually delays the casefile processing time on the I-130, as the I-130 is pulled OUT of it's place in the waiting queue, bundled up with the I-129F, and put at the END of the queue, a new day 0 for you. Which, of course, sucks monkeys balls...
FWIW, the 'wait it out' period that is mentioned with the K-3, is after the K-3 is issued. You come to the USA on the K-3, with an I-94 validity of duration for 2 years, and apply for AOS, a green card. can't get a SSN, can't work, can't participate in USA society because you have no status without the green card (or EAD).
What's next? for your homework, I ask that you get on a PC, spend the next 4 hours reading through the K-3 sub-forum here, at least the last 700 topics there.
Yes, I ask that of you, as I want you to become fully jaded, and increase your levels of ire and anger with that lawyer.

no. in fact, the K-3 visa, although 'listed' as chasable with USCIS website,
will actually get shut down, and the I-129F petition administratively closed at NVC.
so, I suggest, you ditch this lawyer, as he/she is quoting stuff from 2003, and not 2009.
    What happened, in 2009?
USCIS got really efficient, FBI got really efficient, and the delay in processing I-130s vanished.
That's 6 years of efficient processing with USCIS and the FBI. Why is that important?
The basis of being allowed to chase after a K-3 visa, an unapproved I-130 in the pipe, vanished,
    as
since 2009, USCIS will approve an I-130 and I-129F together, then NVC will see both , and administratively close the approved I-129F since the approved I-130 exists.
    Sorry.
You've got an ignorant lawyer seeking to make money on fees for filling out forms.

Frips reacted to perfect in Experience vs Degree
I've found that showing that I had a "United Kingdom general education" and having a neutral British accent has opened up many doors, even though I don't have a degree. I found ways to make my resume stand out from my competition and have only been unemployed for 9 months during the ten years I've been here (and that was because of a reduction in force). Otherwise I have held jobs in which the job description stated it required a degree and which have paid on the higher end ($25-$41 per hour, and I'm only in the admin field, nothing special!). I think if you can market yourself and interview well...lack of a degree shouldn't stop you getting a good job. Even Google recognizes that experience over a degree (which it used to insist on) actually isn't best practice!

Maybe the market place you're in makes a difference too - I'm in Southern California. Also agree with Novedsac that getting a good recruiter who will properly market your skills and experience is important. Pick one that is not just a glorified sales rep who is trying to put bums on seats but one who wants to place you in a long-term career position for the good of you and the company!
    Hope that helps

I do like the idea of number 3 and 4. This would make USCIS and NVC more accoutable. Currently they can talk how they want to USC with no repercussions. I do believe the whole system needs to be revamped; just not sections of it.. Just my 2 cents...

2014 taxes will not be expected until after April 15th. I'll defer to others. Put it at the end of you AOS package, that way it remains with the applicable package.

    Background: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/531048-fighting-back-against-nvc-i-864-nitpicking/
So I called the NVC up today as we are on day 49/60 for reviewal of documents. I was told that we had received an AOS checklist, and the operator refused to discuss what the reasoning was behind the checklist. I was so angry.
My wife called them up a half hour later and was told we had received a checklist because the total income on our co-sponsor's forms don't match what was reported on their most recent tax return.
According to the minutes from NVC's meeting with AILA in November - those figures don't need to match. The sponsor simply needs to demonstrate that they can maintain an income of over 125% of the federal poverty guideline.
With that in mind, we requested to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor butted in on the call and stated there was a discrepancy between total income on the tax forms and what was on the I-864. We underlined the above point from the meeting with AILA. The case has now been put into review...
    The point? Start fighting back!
