  1. I called according to the suggestions in the post to ask for a tracking number, twice. Did not work at all. They did not have a tracking number.

So, I got online, made an e-request on 12th (though I was not on the 30 day cut off to make a request according to tier 1s) to say my card not received. On 13th, the next day, my status changed, after 3 weeks. Today, which is 2 days after the e-request, I received my card in the mail and they updated my case with a tracking number tonight =.=. I used the tracking number on USPS, saw that they did mail the card out yesterday.

So, all in all, what it needs, and only needs, is a simple e-request, done by yourself online.!

AFAIK the tracking number only applies if it's already been mailed, which yours hadn't been when you called.

So glad you finally got your GC! But I want to mention that the IO I spoke to on Weds specifically said NOT to request a lost or missing card because it can generate a duplicate card which causes further problems (I think maybe it invalidates the first card? not sure). In many cases it won't help anyway because it would go through the same contractor which is already backlogged.

Can you please post the link for e-request?

https://egov.uscis.gov/e-Request/Intro.doThat's the site but read my note above before you do it.

  2. YES! Several of us are in that situation. In fact my welcome notice is also dated July 15, and still no card. Check out this thread for more info: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/560558-are-you-still-waiting-for-conditional-green-card-to-arrive-after-welcome-notice/

Based on my infopass appointment yesterday, I think this is an issue with the Missouri factory contracted by USCIS to produce GCs. Long story short, they updated their software and it's causing delays.

I made a post about what to do if you haven't received it in 6 weeks and 8 weeks. Good luck!! Hope we all get it soon :)

  3. That's a lot of information. Thank you so much COCOCACAO :) I think you and I should keep in touch here and update each other. What do you think? :) like any news or updates, or calling for service request or another infopass etc. Communicating to someone facing the same situation really makes things much easier.

Yeah absolutely :) :) Fortunately after this stage we don't have to do much for 2 years until lifting conditions on GC :joy:

  4. Just got back from the appointment, and I'm really glad we went. Surprised it wasn't a waste of time to be honest lol

The IO said we should have gotten the GC already, and the delay is due to an issue with the factory they contract it out to. Essentially, the Missouri factory updated its software and so some cards were delayed. He was confident we should get it very soon (less than 2 weeks). He said if we don't have it after 6 weeks from approval date, we should call 1-800-375-5283 and say we have a "service request," which means someone local will go down to the physical location and figure out what's up. In that case, we'd get a response from the service request within 2 weeks. Finally he said if nothing changes in a month, we should make another infopass appointment.

The guy was very helpful and sympathetic and didn't just tell us to wait. He mentioned that processing times are slow these days because office budgets haven't expanded to accommodate increasing demands (meaning, more people send in applications than before, but still only a few employees work on them).

Hope this info is beneficial to you!

Edited to add: Forgot to mention that I also asked about possibly getting a passport stamp while we wait for the card, and he strongly recommended against it because it can cause hours and hours of wait time at customs and ports of entry. He said he'd do it if it were an emergency, though, so we'll keep it in mind.

  5. The officer told us that usually it takes 2 weeks. Welcome notice says it takes 3 weeks. Uscis website shows it takes 2 months.

You can say, Interview officer told you to make infopass in 4 weeks if u don't receive green card. that is not a lie lol The most important question is, what is going on there, what causes the delay, and when can you expect your green card? You have a trip later on out of the country etc.

I have a feeling that you will get the answer tomorrow. Plus, there is nothing to lose. Good luck !!

Thanks so much for your advice! I'll let you know how it goes :)

  6. yes. 18th Sept here on uscis website.

I don't think you should take what they said on the phone seriously. They always tell you to wait and wait. If you got an infopass, don't cancel it. When will it be? Could you please let me know what they say if you go? If you already cancelled, then I will make an infopass in a week or two. The officer interviewed us told us to make infopass if we don't get green card in 4 weeks.

Well I was going to cancel it but just haven't gotten around to it yet. The thing is, it's scheduled for tomorrow at 7:45 am @.@ lol :/ That's part of the reason I didn't want to go... But if the interviewer told you to make an infopass appointment after 4 weeks, that's interesting and makes me want to go now since 4 weeks for me would be today. I'll have to talk to my husband about it since he would need to attend, too. I'll let you know!!

  7. We are on the same boat now called Portland :):( did they tell you why Portland is slow? I was just planning to make an info pass :( Now I am not sure.

No, she didn't say why. She said to call them again if I don't get it by Sept 13. Does your online status include some date about 60 days from when you were approved? Mine says Sept 13.

    Jesus, I feel better now!

My status just changed to "Card was mailed to me". (today, August 11st), and I got the Welcome letter on July 25th.

How long more will I probably wait?

    Congrats!!!

  8. So I called the number listed on the welcome notice, and the USCIS representative said Portland is "taking longer than they should" to produce cards, and we should get it by Sept 13... :/ I think I'll cancel the infopass appointment I made since I doubt they'll tell me anything more useful. Guess we just have to wait up to another month :(

  9. I don't think calling will work. I am gonna make info pass if i don't get anything by the 4th week. I think by the time you may have to make another info pass. But hopefully we won't have to do that. For some reason PDX is always slow.

Ugh I really don't want to do another infopass :( and honestly I don't think it'll help. The IO will probably just say, "The GC can take up to 2 months to arrive" since on the online status it says ours will arrive "by September 13."

I wish I understood the cause of the delay -- don't they just print out the card and stick it in the mail?? What's the hold up?

See if you are able to get the green card tracking number as suggested by another member above. I hope it works for you!

Our situations sounds so much alike! Also interviewed in April, got senator involved, finally status update on July 17th. Filed August last year. I hope you hear something soon, I understand your frustration!

Wow yes, our situations are almost identical. We filed 9 Sept 2014. Good luck to you! I'll try asking for the tracking number, as you suggested.

  10. Our interview was on 20th July. Then a couple of days later we received the welcome notice which states it will take 3 weeks to receive the conditional green card. Well, so far, nothing yet. Then I check other's time lines, it seems usually it only takes several days to receive the green card. Am I the only one right now who is waiting for almost 3 weeks? Or recently the process of card production is slowing down?

One more question, will our online statue update one more time when they actually produce the card? So far our online statue shows they mailed welcome notice.

Anyone? Any information is appreciated ;)

I'm in the exact same situation, and I'm in PDX!

We actually interviewed in APRIL! and were approved but had to wait until husband's "permanent file" arrived and was reviewed. No help from congressperson, so on July 13 we had an infopass appointment and the next day it changed to "New card is being produced." July 15 it changes to "Welcome notice mailed," and nothing since then :( I've been doing the same thing, looking at other people's timelines and getting stressed out. It's been 11 months since we filed AOS and still no green card... siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. We're really hoping to get it soon so my husband can take an extended trip back to see his family.

Once it's officially 3 weeks after getting the welcome notice, I'm gonna call USCIS.

  11. I doubt they'll ask about your income since that's covered on the I-864, and if your income is a problem then they'd probably send you an RFE or tell you that you need a cosponsor. And it's always possible that someone could lose their job (for example) and their income would change, so you're not expected to 100% guarantee it into the future.

In all the field office reviews I've read, no one has said they were asked about income. So no worries!

  12. No good news :( The IO said his file had arrived and was awaiting review. She said to contact them again if we don't hear anything in 90 days... ugh! I just checked the case status online and it still says "interview is scheduled."

This feels ridiculous. I know Portland has a big back log, but I don't understand why this was taken to the back of the line. We filed his AOS 10 months ago!

Is there anything more I can do? USCIS still hasn't responded to congressperson's staffer's second inquiry. Is it possible the congressperson's office can advocate for my case to be sent further up the line?

  13. 1. We didn't have too much more evidence than that -- we had a joint bank account (with money in it, a few thousand $), joint health insurance, joint tax returns, and pictures. We also brought a letter from my father saying we lived with him, and we also brought mail showing my husband lived at that address. However the interviewer wasn't really interested in seeing that -- she said monetary co-mingling was the most meaningful evidence.

    2. I don't think it's necessary. As I said, the interviewer wasn't really interested in the letter my dad wrote. If you're worried you don't have much evidence, it might give you peace of mind just to have every option covered.

    3. You don't have to, but yes this would definitely be some strong evidence of co-mingling. You might also be able to name her as a health care representative in an advance directive, and in many states all you need for that is some forms (often free) and witnesses to sign. Just Google "advance directive [state]."

    4. Yes, you need to tell the truth. As sweet01 said, just say you really wanted to spend your life together or something. Getting married on a visitor visa is usually not recommended since it could indicate you lied about intended activities during your visit, so the interviewer might make an issue of it. Just be prepared for that.

Good luck!! Chances are it will be much easier and less stressful than you think.

  14. I had an infopass apointment that was related to our I-129f. My experience was similar to the person in that link: the initial reaction was an attitude of, "What's your problem?? What do you expect?" only to be followed by a useful/helpful response. Point being, IF you get someone with attitude, just try to stay calm, but remain firm, and make it clear what your situation is, and you're more than likely going to have a beneficial visit.

Of course you might get someone super friendly and polite from the beginning too, but can't hurt to be prepared for the worst...

    Good luck!

Great to know, thanks so much for the advice! I'll be sure to post an update on Monday.
