  1. You should be able to request an extension. The potential problem I see is that our consulate required that I send a notarized document saying that I still wanted to marry my then-fiancé.

Can your fiancé go higher up and have someone official send you a letter saying that because your fiancé is currently deployed, he is unable to provide an original signed affidavit of support, but that they verify all the material within? If your fiancé has internet access, he should be able to type up any documents (are there scanners on board? could sign, too) and access his tax transcript and send to you.

I asked him. He said that they arent allowed to use scanners or fax. Its heavily monitored. He can only send emails through outlook. We have the affidavit of support but we used the old form. It might not be accepted. But its the exact same form as the new one...
  2. Hey! First of all Congratulations!!! That is great news. Regarding the issues you are having dont worry about it. You just need to follow some steps in order to make this happen.

What documentation is the one that he cant provide? I need a Little bit more information in order to help you. I am following the topic so I can reply ASAP.

Dont worry we will figure it out, USCIS is military friendly you just need to follow instructions and everything will work out.

    Hi Pamela! :)

They actually sent me a response to my inquiry..:

    Dear Madam:

Please note that your I-129F petition will be automatically revalidated at the time of your interview. Therefore, you do not need to take any action regarding the revalidation.

In order to continue with the process of your case, please send your Packet 3 documents the soonest possible.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

I was pretty much relieved that they answered quickly. Well at my consulate I need to send a checklist with all required documents before proceeding to the interview.

The documents that I do not have:

    1. Affidavit of Support:

He did sign the form and put all the info in prior to him leaving for deployment, but since we only sent it in February, we had the old form and it was updated recently. I am not sure if they will accept the old version of the form.

I also do not have his tax documents of 2013.

    2. Letter of Intent signed 30 days before the interview

The other docs I can get.. like Police documents from my country....

We weren't aware that he would be deployed this long. We couldn't predict what happened... -_- obviously this must happen to me....

At least in the meantime I am working full time..

  3. I'll have to wait until they respond to my e-mail. There's no way for him to sign (original documents) such Affidavit of Support and the Letter of Intent which need to be signed within 30 days of the interview.

There's a checklist that I need to complete and send back to consulate before the expiration, but I do not have all documents so it would be considered 'dishonest' for me to send it and then delay the interview...

The only way would be to ask an extension... i've heard of some people getting it.

  4. Hi everyone! My fiance is in the u.s. navy and currently is deployed on a ship. Our K1 petition was approved in august which was faster than we expected. We are still unsure when he will be back. I need to send my consulate docs before scheduling an interview. He is unable to send me anything obviously because hes on a ship in the middle of nowhere. Since the k1 petition expires in 4 months, considering our situation and the current circumstance happening right now in the world, is there a possibility that they extend the petition? Even two months more would help. I sent an email to my consulate but still no response. I am not sure who I need to talk to about this.

  5. well guys, i got a letter from my congressman's office today. uscis states that my case was flagged and needs additional background checks. they also said they have no idea when the background checks will be completed. they stated in the letter that this is a matter of national security...

this is hilarious and complete bs. i'm 24 years old with NO record. i've never been married and have no children. i'm a college graduate and am employed full-time. this is just ridiculous. becca and i have decided to explore our options of me going up to canada. she has a lot of opportunities up there and i can work from anywhere. this has been a huge waste of time.

wow thats crazy. But maybe they just need to do additional background checks and of course anything that involves immigration is a matter of national security. Just be a little more patient you will get your NOA2 if you have nothing to hide. Where would you move to in Canada?

  6. . Im worried about the expiration of my NoA2 as well. I just renewed my passport Im waiting to get it. I dont think I can schedule an interview with ab expired passport. I know its my fault. I should have renewed it earlier. Hopefully I shod be able to schedule in a week.

its funny that you mentioned the passport. I have to renew mine too I just realised it will expire in less than 6 months so I have to renew it .

by the way I received packet 3 from my consulate today :) is it possible to ask for an extension for gathering the docs my fiance has no way to send me docs while hes out in the sea lol even just a month more will help.

  7. I'll tell you, you take control of your file at this stage! Mine went by so fast because I really was ON IT. Basically once i got the text that told me it was sent to NVC, I called NVC everyday until they told me they had received it, then I still called until they gave me the MTL number, then I called everyday until I knew it had left. I gathered all the info I needed and prepared my packet 3 response. Once it had left I monitored the CEAC website and the second it said "ready" I sent in my packet 3. 2 days later they emailed me packet 4 and I booked my interview right away. Keep on top of things it really speeds up. My fiancé just sent me a picture of a letter we've received yesterday saying the NVC had sent our file to the Montreal consulate. My interview has been booked for since Monday. Thank god I didn't wait for them!!!! Good luck!!

I dont have all the docs because my fiance is in the navy and currently deployed... I just need to get in touch with nvc so I can get my case number then afterwards call the consulate about my particular situation. Im gathering proof of our relationship... so to be honest im not that in a rush. Only thing that worries me is the expiration on the noa2.

  8. there are so many factors here. it's true that some people are luckier than others. I really thought it was going to take 5 months tops and I would be in the U.S. by that time frame. It's been 7 months now, I received NOA2, my case was sent to NVC, not sure where it is now, but I haven't received the packet 3 yet, so it's probably not at my consulate yet. So just to tell you, it could take you over a year before you receive your visa in hand.

  9. Yeah, I've heard of some people waiting up to 20 days just for the petition to reach the NVC and then another few weeks after that for it to be processed and sent to the consulate. It's all a matter of luck, unfortunately, as a lot of this process seems to be. The goods news is K-1s are being expedited at the NVC at the moment, so it shouldn't take very long once they receive it. If they have received it and you have your case number assigned already, you can check the status on the CEAC website (though I'm sure someone has probably already mentioned this, so I'm sorry if it's redundant). It will say "in transit" after the NVC sends it off and "Ready" when the consulate receives it.

We just got lucky and the Dublin Consulate was quick enough to receive our case and send out Packet 3 on the same day, which we definitely weren't expecting. It's scary, but good, when things start moving so fast. You realize you're not actually as prepared as you thought you were after being used to waiting for so long. Haha

yes it's really luck I guess. I am going to call tomorrow for the case number at NVC, but I am sure it's on it's way to my consulate. I am not completely ready too for all the docs I need to gather aftwerwards... I am just curious to where my case is progressing :)

Thanks for all the info! Good Luck!

  10. It's midnight, but normally won't allow you to connect around 11:15 or later. When I called around that time, it would give me a message to the effect of "Thank you for calling the National Visa Center. We are not currently taking calls regarding case statuses at this time. Please try again later." etc I imagine they probably close the line at a particular time so as to ensure they are done by midnight? But I could be wrong.

Thanks! Also I noticed that you received you package 3... and you received your NOA2 around the same time as me...

I still haven't received any indication that my consulate received my case and I didn't receive package 3.

I'll have to call again today. I wasn't able to reach any one at the NVC last night.

  11. Don't wait for Montreal to send you Packet 3, you'll end up waiting an extra 2-3 weeks if you don't just send it in yourself! As soon as you have a case number from the NVC start your DS-160, and when your CEAC status says "Ready", submit Packet 3 to Montreal in an email, here are the instructions: Montreal K-1 Packet 3. When you email Montreal let them know you'd like to receive Packet 4 in an email, sometimes they even reply back with Packet 4 the same day.

I'll call NVC tomorrow for the case number. Do you know at what time the call center is open? The reason why im asking is because I work from 8 to 5.

  12. I received my NOA2 via the USCIS website... it's already been 12 business days (or 16 days if we include weekends) since NOA2. I haven't heard anything yet.

I'll have to call NVC to get my case number, but it only opens at 7:30 am eastern time (I'm getting ready to go to work during that time). There is no way for me to call them during business days because I work.

Do you know if they are open during the weekend ? How about after 5 pm ?

  13. I got my approval NOA2 too on August 11th.

The message also changed to :

On August 15, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly

I guess it will take another 2 weeks give and take for it to be received by NVC and then to my consulate?

  14. The financial aspect really matters. You can be denied if you do not meet the requirements or do not have a sponsor. I knew someone who had her interview (she's the beneficiary), they even asked her what she plans on doing for work in the U.S. If they are not convinced that the USC can support you or that your beneficiary will not become a public charge, you can be denied.

Age sort of matters in this case because if you are young, you probably do not have as much savings as say someone who is in his/her 30s. I can say that I am much better off right now with a good job than when I was 18, just about to starting college and with little job experience. Life is going to hit you in the face when you will see all the costs.

  15. Congrats!

There are no 2014 taxes yet. Those are filed towards the beginning of 2015. His most recent tax return would be for 2013.

Yes, contact your consulate and tell them your situation. Petition validity can be extended.

~ Moved from K-1 Process to K-1 Progress Reports -topic is case status ~

Ooops that's what I mean 2013... I have his 2012, but I think they want the most recent taxes.
