Errata:
1. This ain't a K-1 visa, this is the I-129F petition.
2. the thing they are asking for is called a letter of intent to marry. Each human writes one and signs it. two humans, two letters and covered over at http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide in the checklist, item #5. Stuff isn't placed in the K-1 Guide as an idea - thousands of folk writing about what they did, how they did, got incorporated INTO the Guide. Plus, it's in the written instructions for the I-129F, over at http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf on page 5 o 9, item 7, subparagaph B.
I'm sorry yer having problems, but IMO you or your attorney caused them prior to actual submittal.
TSC issued an RFE, so you know the exact date that your petition was reviewed, so that's a plus.
Give em what they're asking for, and you'll be fine ! Or - since you mentioned you two already included these in the original I-129F submittal - it smells to me like a call INTO USCIS, talking with an ISO, can be useful. When you get an ISO, mention that the documents requested in the RFE are ALREADY in the casefile and the adjudicator missed it. Should take about 2 weeks for the adjudicator to review again, or 4 weeks for RFE intake .. Getting an ISO on the phone IS NOT a trivial thing.
Go Get Em, and Good Luck !
Our Letter of Intent wasn't handwritten. We typed it on the computer and printed it. Both of us read it and signed it afterwards. We also typed a two page letter explaining how we met, when we started dating and set a timeline of the days we met in person. We both signed that too, stating it to be true. We included pictures and airline tickets.
This should be sufficient. If he didn't write a proper letter of intent with both signatures (petitioner and beneficiary), then obviously he is going to get a RFE. They want to make sure both parties agree that they will get married within 90 days of the fiance's entry in the US.
-
We both got an e-mail to say an RFE was on the way, and it updated on the website. But the website doesn't tell you what the RFE is for, and they won't tell you - the beneficiary - on the phone.
Regarding the original post. If they are asking for a wedding date/time frame, it seems a bit mean, as you probably haven't fixed a date. How can you, when you don't know when the visa will come?
However I guess all you can do is write them a statement outlining plans for your wedding. i.e where you plan to get married etc.
Our RFE wants more evidence of us having met....I already sent a load. All I can do is send it all again and more. We have to do what they ask.
Plus, as someone else pointed out, at least there is action on our files.
Thanks! This is all I wanted to know... he has access to e-mail and his cousins can tell me when the letter has arrived.... I didn't receive anything yet, I suppose it's still a little early to tell. I have been waiting 3 months now since NOA1.
-
He needs to be able to receive his mail. The contents of the RFE is in the letter only. You might not know it is coming because the website updates are not always accurate. Postal mail is accurate and required.
He's in the military so he is away for a couple of months. He currently lives with his cousin so he said he will be informing me of any letters that my fiance might receive. Nothing so far. Thanks for the quick answer... It's been already 3 months since NOA1, should I be worried?
-
Just curious, if you get a RFE, do they update the case status on the uscis website, requesting for additional information? My fiancé (the petitioner) is away so he wouldn't be able to receive it if they send a letter at home. Or do they also send an e-mail?
-
Pretty sure that they will send my NOA2 around July or August... apparently i've heard on this site that the Texas center is working on November and December filers... I'm a late-February filer.
-
I'm a February Filer :'(... nothing has changed yet since NOA1. I'll start calling once it's actually been 5 months, that's what it says.
-
Wow! what was his rank ? Did he petition you for fiance visa ? Are you guys living together now?
He's E-5. Yes he petitioned me and we're not living together yet. I'm in my home country (i'm the beneficiary).
-
From someone who has Military blood in their family, your statement about what your true reason is of joining is pretty despicable..
I agree! That is a pretty bad reason for joining.
-
We sent ours February 10th... received NOA1 February 18th. Nothing since (except for Alien registration number changed). If you sent it in March, you still have a long way to go... (Mines in Texas too)
-
Yes you can, in terms of citizenship. My fiance was also naturalized and he's in the U.S. Navy
-
Alien registration number changing has nothing to do with an incoming approval ... maybe it did in the past, but it seems it's always a few days after NOA1 now. Everything after that is random.
You're right. We got our NOA1 maybe a few weeks after my fiance sent the petition. It's been 2 months now since NOA1...

I'm from Canada and I intend to go to Cuba for vacation. My fiance already sent the K-1 petition.
Does anyone have bad experience from traveling to Cuba while waiting for K-1 visa? or afterwards while trying to enter the country?
-
I have a strange question to ask. My fiancé sent the K-1 visa petition late February. Since I am still waiting for answers, I am currently working in Canada and I intend to travel to Cuba for vacation (not with my fiance but a friend).
Would this negatively affect my application? I know the united states has a firm stance against Cuba...
-
I sent mine late February and we receive NOA1 maybe the last week of February. It's April now I haven't heard anything except that my Alien number has changed... Mine is Texas too.. I think it's really long with them.
Does it also depends which country you're from? I'm from Canada?
-
I don't think it's accurate as well. I think it depends where your significant other lives.
I've heard that Philippines is much quicker than most places. Canada too.
By the way, I received by NOA1 within a week of filing the petition. Then I see now that they changed the Alien registration number. I heard that means they will approved it in a week or so.
Can you imagine from NOA1 to NOA2 it took 2 weeks.
-
that's what I did too... I wrote where we met, which is ONLINE, but then met in person on specific dates. I attached travel tickets.
I'm happy we're not the only ones who met online
-
I received one on the 20th of February, 2014. We are now February 25th, no other message yet? Should I expect one this week for NOA2?
Submitting i-129f TODAY. Terrified I don't have enough evidence.

I agree that's a lot! For the petition, we sent pictures, passport stamps, airline tickets. We didn't even send chat logs and skype calls. We've been dating for almost 4 years, can you imagine how many pages that would amount to lol. Chat logs and skype calls will be useful at the interview stage.
