1. Phew I guess we were approved. At least that's what our IO lady said.

I can't recall it completely..I was too nervous, but we were there like 1.5 hours early and waited around an hour until we were called in.

First sworn in and then she asked for photo ID with our address on it. And there we were with our one big problem which made us hold our breath for a minute or two: my dear husband never got a new drivers license after moving two years ago. So his license had the state montana and a completely different address on it.

That was the one thing I had never checked, I was prepared for everything else.

The IO was pretty upset about this and said that he had to get one latest after 30 days and that we should be trying to proof that we are living at the same house, which is hard without an updated ID.

Luckily I had my boss, who is also our landlord, write an affidavit which said that she is our landlord and knows we are living together.

Phew.

Next questions were the usual like how we met, when we decided to marry, who attended our wedding and where it was and if we have some pictures to show.

And if I had some supporting material.

I handed here taxes filed married, phone bill, joined saving account, joined credit and best buy card and our car insurance and the affidavits I had written by boss and one friend.

She took a copy of a few pictures out of our wedding album and said we were approved.

I didn't receive any confirmation by email yet and realized that she didn't take my EAD/AP card?

Is that bad news??

2. @misdynamite,

I wish success during your forthcoming Interview......I Can't wait to here the good news from you after your interview....Since we have the same local ofice I will be grateful if you could share the details of your interview...

Once again I wish you guys all the best!

Thank you very much. I will definitely post my experience when we are done with this. I'm sure nervous about it but also know that we have nothing to hide since we are truly in love and not trying to trick anyone.

But hopefully that IO is going to be a pleasant person that doesn't make this a scary experience :) will let you know.

And congratulations to those that already succeeded this process. Very happy for you.

Those who are still waiting: hang in there. It will be over eventually!!

3. does anybody has her/his interview in the next week or so? or did anybody had their interview recently and can tell us about it? We are going to have ours and we keep thinking that we don't have enough papers...

Going crazy :-s

thank you

We have our interview on April 22. We don't have too many papers either. We don't have shared rental agreements because we live in a house owned by our boss so I never had to sign anything. We don't have shared utility bills because I barely make money right now. No shared taxes since I didn't work last year.

We have a shared savings account, I am a authorized user on his credit and best by card, joint car insurance and I am on his phone Bill. And of course tons of pictures. I let our boss and landlord and a good friend of us write a affidavit about knowing us as a couple.. But that's basically what we have..

4. We're headed to the Western side of Germany! :) My husband is insistent on visiting the town Husum, since apparently, our last name originates from there. We expect to visit Cologne, etc. Basically, a week-long road trip around the country. I'm excited!! What shouldn't we miss, west of Frankfurt?

Congrats on the interview and the new job! That rocks!

Congratulations about the interview! But boooo about the timing. :(

I wish I knew how they decided. I'd have chosen the path that leads to interviewing FOR SURE!! The waiver sucks. You'd think it'd lead to a faster process. Nothing is further from the truth. I'm just happy to be married and all of us living together. <3

Thanks Tina..I guess USCIS just always knows how to make your day worse even though it's actually good news.

I'm excited to be done with this second step of the journey. Although a little nervous since we don't have a joint lease or utility bills. We live in the house that our boss owns and since they know me well I never had to sign anything. And hubby did the utility bills since I didn't have any income because of the lacking EAD.

I had my boss write an affidavit about this.. I hope USCIS will be ok with it.

We have a joint phone bill, credit card and a savings account and tons of pictures.. But that's about it..will this be ok?

Oh and about visting western Germany: I lived in Cologne for the past 10 years. It's not the prettiest town but really nice little bars and of course the "Dom" ..big church!

Hope my friends don't read this but Düsseldorf is actually a real pretty city to visit and close to cologne.. Shopping is cheaper in Cologne though :)

5. We just received our interview letter too. It's on April 22. The timing couldn't be worse. We will be in Texas at that time for work so now we had to book tickets for $600 to fly in for this since its so unsafe to reschedule it.

Bright side about it is that when everything goes smooth we are done with USCIS for a while.

I wonder how they decide who has to have an interview and who gets the waiver..we all went thru K1 and already had interviews..so why again and why some don't...it freaks me out a bit..

We will be flying to Germany end of August to have a big first anniversary party with all friends and family that couldn't make it to our wedding..I'm soooo excited!!

6. Happy to know that you had your interview scheduled and its gives hope for mine as we share almost he same timeline and local office. As for rescheduling, I did not had the experience but I will suggest that if possible cancel what ever will be taking you out of town and finish with this long wait...

it caught me by surprise as I was prepared for a longer wait.

but you`re right. me and my husband decided to cancel our flights (it`ll cost us $600...urgh..we would had to leave town for work and had everything set up already) and take the interview.

at least we`re done with USCIS for a while then. I guess it will be worth it...just hurts..we don`t have a lot of money..

7. I'll share this wish Johan. I've been lurking in the NPIW thread on the AOS forum. People are so discouraged there! They keep talking about how they feel displaced and like they're feeling uprooted due to not having their green cards yet. I asked Johan about this. He says he feels very comfortable here. It reminds him so much of "home." (South Africa)

I wish I had my greencard too (just to be over and done with this process of nervewrackingness waiting and being scared that they are missing info or will reject me) but it doesn't have a huge impact on my life that I dont.

I do feel misplaced sometimes and I miss my family and friends like crazy. But Eric is my second family, my other part of the family now and I'm happy that I get to be with him.

There's tons of adjustments to make, like speaking English every day, not get the groceries I'm used to..little things...it is a real different culture here, but it's a new world to discover and I'm lucky that I get to do this.

My life is nothing like before but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's just different. I only wish that I could have my parents, sisters and friends with me.

8. Hi msdynamite,

I can see that we are using the same local office and this is probably the way they will treat all our cases. They are to slow. What is your timeline? Which month did you file and When did you had your biometrics?

Hi I filed September 8, biometrics on October 8 and EAD approved on November 17, but only because I got my congresswoman involved. Click on my timeline to see more detaile!

It all seems very slow to me since a lot of people already got their interview that filed around the same time. But there's nothing else to do than wait. I'm happy that I can work and drive at least. Of course I'd be happy to have this done...but unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it.

Good luck to all the upcoming interviews!!! Happy for you guys!!

9.
Hi everyone and Happy New Year to all!!! Congrats for those having significant progress in their process. After several calls to USCIS, I checked my Case status now and it says the following; Case History

• 01/12/2015sign_icon.png
On January 12, 2015, your inquiry about a notice that you did not receive, referral number xxxxxxxxxxxxxx was completed.
• 01/12/2015sign_icon.pngOn January 12, 2015, we sent a response to your inquiry about a notice that you did not receive, referral number xxxxxxxxxxxx.
• 01/12/2015sign_icon.pngOn January 12, 2015, your inquiry about a notice that you did not receive, referral number xxxxxxxxxxx, was assigned to an officer for response.

I don't understand anything about all these. Is there anyone who have had this experienced? What are my chances to have the interview soonest?Thank you!!!

My status says exactly the same thing and a few days later I received a letter from them saying that I should expect to be scheduled for an interview three or months from this letter...

So if your letter says the same the interview will not be soon :(

10. Congrats to all who had their interview scheduled. I'm on the interview waiver and had to wait 6 months for my GC.

This Month my medical will expire and had to redo it again I guess.

Why do you think you have to do your medical again? The medical has to be valid at the time when you apply for adjustment of status! Wether you receive an interview appointment or an interview waiver letter later doesn't matter!
11. For the most part, I agree with this, but we're looking at getting him citizenship, then possibly relocating back to Europe. The longer the green card takes, the longer citizenship takes. At the same time, he's here, he's working, and we're happy. So no worries, USCIS, we'll wait. ;)

Where are you looking to relocate to? I agree about moving mid-process. I wouldn't want to do it!

Ah I see..that's of course true with the citizenship. Well for a change it would be great to just get it over with this horrible paperwork. So the sooner the citizenship the better :) so I just wish everyone here good luck for a faaaaaast process!!

We are working for the same employer and they are thinking of sending us to Texas to run operations for them there..going to be interesting. Smaaaalll town in Texas..see if me the big city girl can handle it :)

It's planned for end of January..

12. Johan's is still saying that the fingerprint fee has been accepted. His son's shows a "validation error." About 3 weeks ago, we got a "potential interview waiver" letter for our K2, but nothing on Johan. So, as of now, we're assuming that Johan's situation is the same. We don't expect them to have their green cards until at least May of 2015. Which blows.

yeah in the end it doesnt matter if it takes longer. I´m vey happy taht I have my EAD now and I´m not complaining.

we will possibly be moving to a different state end of january..so it would be kinda cool to have an interview before that, cause adresschanges in the middle of the process kinda scare me...you never know with USCIS right :)

13. Hi guys!

Andre had his Biometrics yesterday and he went alone and everything was fine. Also, we just found out we are pregnant! We are so excited! :) I hope everyone is doing well!

ohhhh wowwww!congratulations you two!!!thats awesome!!!

hope everyone is fine...my I-485 says: case is ready to be scheduled for interview for a while now..little anxious about interview.

anyone elses case status saying the same?
