  1. Sure they can > http://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-issues-new-policy-form-i-693-report-medical-examination-and-vaccination-record

OP> No guarantee it will be fine for AOS. Some have found themselves receiving an RFE for an I-693 from a civil surgeon when their medical date was past a year at the time of the approval. If you can get it done abroad for cheaper and have all the required vaccinations marked off on a DS-3025 during the K-1 medical, then you might want to go that route. You could also risk it and hope they don't ask for a new one. If they do, you could worry about it at that time.

Thank you so much for the reply. I am unfamiliar how long takes AOS to be approved, but I will be applying for it 3 months before medical will expire and I would want to avoid paying high doctor prices in USA :) He will be arriving within 6 months of medical, so it's ok for the visa, but my question is, would you recommend he just gets an updated vaccination form from the doctor abroad for future AOS? Is that the only form they require or do they also need updated X-ray for TB?

  2. He does need it for AOS, but it counts from the date of file not from decision. My wife filed hers like 5 days before a year was up on the medical and it got approved a year later. They can't fault you for their back log. If unsure you will be married by November then do another before the flight here. There's a good chance you will have to see a civil surgeon here anyway to sign off on the vaccinations.

Thanks for the reply! He is planning to come here next month, so we will get married end of July and I will file for AOS immediately. So about 3 months before expiration date of the medical. Do you think we will still need doctor to sign off vaccinations? You know Doctors are expensive in USA and I am trying to avoid it anyway I can :)

  3. My fiance had his medical exam end of November and his administrative processing just ended today. So his validity on his medical will be expiring end of May. I know he must enter USA before medical exprires or he will need to get new one. I read that for AOS he needs it and is valid for 1 year, but by the time we get married and apply for AOS they might be expiring. Can someone confirm this and advise it is better to renew it abroad (since is cheaper) or we will be fine for AOS? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

  4. so speaking English is a requirement to get a visa now? *mindblown*

I was afraid of this as it could be used against my fiance. God I hate this damn system.

I was shocked too..he was denied a translator as well. CO spoke his language, but kept talking in English. Luckily, my fiance is much better in written English and I provided ton of written evidence, besides we went on vacation together several times. Maybe it was just that CO, I hope.

  5. I am not sure if he was refused indeed. They might need more time to investigate. CEAC shows AP and not refused. Many people get refusal letter at the interview and he did not. There is still chance. At my fiances' interview was similiar where CO said since you do not speak good English, I am not convienced and we are still in AP. It's been over 4 months. They do put most muslims on AP. Maybe CO needed more time to investigate and they put him on AP for security checks. I would wait a little longer before cancelling K1 or trying to find out from embassy of the status. Hope all works out!

  6. NVC told me the same thing to send letter, but they responded to my letter 2 months after and in mean time they sent my file to embassy within few days, so NVC will not help you. They do not keep K1's there and quickly mail them out to assigned embassies. I was switching from UAE to Armenia. Process was easy as it took only one e-mail to Armenian emabssy who told me they will take care of it. The problem was that embassy in Abu Dhabi is very busy and they put my file on back burner. After many inquires they finally sent it and it took a bit over a month. I know someone else that had it switched from Kuala Lumpur to another and it took 4 weeks. Things could go smoothly or you could hit a bump, so I would suggest to stay the way it is if you don't want any delays. If, not be ready for at least 1 month delay. We did not have address change, we simply could choose one of 3 embassies as my fiance is from Iran, so I am not sure of procedures when the address was changed, but I am sure your fiance would have to prove first that he have moved, etc. Hope this helped.

  7. It's been a very long journey for me and outcome is still unknown/pending. I am walking "ball of stress". The waiting is killing me, but there is nothing I can do, but just to wait, otherwise I would end up in mental hospital. I waited 6 months at TSC. Also bothered me when I heard people complaining about 2 weeks of wait. TSC really needs to get it's s**** together. 7 months is outrageous!!! :protest:

  8. My fiance had his interview in Armenia over 3 months ago. He was put in AP. He was not approved on spot, so we are not sure if AP is on the embassy level or for security checks. I will be flying to see him next week in Armenia as the stress and distance is killing us (going bankrupt soon, lol). I e-mailed embassy to ask if they need anything in addition as we will be visiting and I just got a standard (copy & paste) embassy reply with AP that we need to wait, etc. (They kept all of our evidence, including original papers/photos, etc. CO made a big stink about him not speaking good English and how can we be together. No problem as I understand his broken English perfectly. I myself speak 4 languages and I am good at understanding mistatkes. We spent 5 long amazing vacations together :-)

I flew for his interview last year and I was not let inside. Is there a possibility to make appoitment with a consul general to discuss our case in order to help in any way possible or should I just wait as there is nothing I can do to help. Maybe I could find out if he was approved or not at least on embassy level. Anyone had any luck with following up on case in person? Any suggestions? I am leaving next week. (I'm just having a bad feeling 'cause he was being judged at the interview and was not given an answer, even after he specifically asked.) Thanks in advance.
