it's been 4 weeks since i applied for a SSN and i haven't heard anything what should i do ?
You are not alone. It' has been 3 weeks for me.
I made a call to them last Friday. I left a voice mail to the guy who accepted my application. Monday afternoon ( this week) he called me back and told me that, " sorry for an inconvinent. He's still waiting for my status to be updated in the system. Once it updates, he will issue the card for me. So just be patient for now".
He did not mention if I need to go to his office to reapply again at all. Therefore, I guess you should just keep waiting.
It seems likes USCIS officers are really slow. ???

ok.ur status will change from Acceptance to Testing&Interview right away. They dont update sites much.Did u create Uscis account for updates?
I did, but no news for i485 so far , only i765.
Your status will change soon.
Most aos interviews are a month after there EAD card.
I hope I will get something soon. It's been 3 months now still no news. ??

we have the same plans, but i cant fly anywhere before i get my GN.ugh..... this process is driving me crazy
At least u got status changed to something, not stay in Acceptance forever like me.
Anyway, I do agree that this application is also driving crazy and frustrated. I can't plan anything. Everything is stuck in the middle of nowhere.
-
atlest u have EAD,i dont...
Our big plan is going to our home country at the end of this year ( Dec 2014- Must) for a month. I do care for GC more than EAD since I'm not gonna take a permenant or full time job yet. My husband salary is enough to survive for now lol. So I don't really need to work. If i do, it's gonna be just for my extra money for shopping. Lol
Somehow, I'm afraid that I'm not gonna get GC in hand on time as planned. ???

I know mine was sent to Nebraska service centre
Chicago is just where all the packages come in and then they send a pile of them to a service centre.
California, Nebraska, Texas, Vermont. NBC
I did think they were all sent to Nebraska but I am not sure , The service centre may just be selected by which ever center has the least load at that time.
The service centre then checks everything is 100% then once they confirm you have everything that is required, they send send to your local office which in my case is Vegas,
Was anyone else's form sent to a different service centre other than Nebraska ?????
Based on the message online it said my case is being proceed to NBC since May 22,2014. So far, I got no any news from them yet. ???
-
It cant be in LA.It suppose to be proccesed in NBC until it move to Testing&Interview, but who knows. In my opinion u should call them again and talk to Tier2 person.Different person different answers
I just called them again. They said once everything is done it will be sent to the local office. Therefore, my only choice is " keep waiting" . ??

I filed my docs around mid of May and got biometric done on June 20,2014.
However, since may 22, 2014 the status of my i485 never change to anything else, but only "Acceptance " till now.
Yesterday I made a call to them to see if I could get any news. The one phone was asked me, "Which city do you live close to?". I answered, " Los Angeles". Then he said, " oh ! Currently Los Angeles office is working on November 13, 2013. So you have to wait ".
This is really confused me cuz I sent my package to Chicago, IL and one the" Acceptance" stage, there is a message saying that my case is on rout to National Benefit Centre. As I knew NBC is in Missouri. How come the guy said my package is in LA? That's weird.
Any ideas ?

I'm not alone then. We are in the same boat. ?

Your timeline did not show the K-1 process, so that threw me off. If you are adjusting from a K-1, then it is possible you are not going to have an interview. Unfortunately those getting approved without interview are having to wait longer for the approval than those getting interviews.
You may get a letter about your interview being waived, or you could also still get an interview. It is a waiting game, but at least you are waiting together this time. Here is a thread about the interview waivers > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/452854-notice-of-potential-interview-waiver-case/
Thanks KayDeeCee for your info and link. They are really usefull to me. After checking that link, I found a bunch of people were in the same situation as mine ( in "acceptance " stage for months) and later they got a letter for waiver interview. I feel a bit better now since I'm not the only one who got stuck in this stage of waiting.
-
Oh, just checked your timeline and it does not appear you are adjusting from a family based visa. Yours won't be approved without interview. The progress reports forum in that case is here > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/138-adjustment-of-status-case-filing-and-progress-reports/
Skimmed the May filers thread and saw a couple others still waiting for interview. However, you can always call and check on your case status just to make sure everything is in order with your case.
I'm adjusting from K1. It's been quite awhile that I have not heard any news from them regarding my i485. I hope they don't left my documents somewhere. Lol

It may be a possible glitch with the online status updates. If people are still getting their receipt notices stating the NBC and case numbers beginning with MSC, then they are not in Nebraska. I have still not seen the USCIS announce any changes in where the family based I-485 forms are being processed.
Normal for being at the NBC and waiting for approval without interview. Check out the Progress Reports sub-forum for those that applied the same month as you.
~ Moved from AOS from Family Based main forum to Case Filing and Progress Reports sub-forum - topic is filing/case status ~
Many people who filed their care around my date got at least moved to "test& review" or appointment date, but mine. ?

I sent my package out on May 18, 2014.
They received it on May 22, 2014.
I got biometric done on June 20,2014
I received my EAD card on August 10, 2014
However, the status of my AOS has never been changed to anything else, but " acceptance " stage since May 22, 2014.
The message said my file is sending to NBC.
I'm so worried what's going out there. How come the status has never been changed to anything like "initial review", or testing ? It just get stuck there for months.
Should I call them to ask if everything is ok?
Help help .... Please.

RN-sun - what others have said is correct, I wouldn't go by our timing on this thread for yours.
NikeS - interviews timing is based on the field office where you will have your interview, and depends on the speed of that office. I wouldn't compare that with anyone unless you know they are at the same office as you.
Thanks for letting me know .

Hi RN-sun,
I too was given my EAD but am still waiting on my AoS and green card. I looked at numbers around me, and there is one that has been set for interview, and a few that were rejected, so I think it really depends on where it is, if it has been sent to a local office, and whether they are going to book an iterview or just approve it. I also sent the whole package in the beginning of May and was accepted on May 14. I did my biometrics in June and am trying to be patient. I just want to get my green card so I can go back and see my kids.
The waiting sucks, but we all know by now, it is a never ending waiting game...or so it seems. hang in there.
Our AOS application was sent about the same time ( just few days different). I did my biometric in June 20. Looks like we are in the same boat. I just can't wait for my GC too so I can go visit my family.
-
Seems that way yes, but if you have EAD/AP then you are all set to work and travel anyway so makes no real difference, just a bit annoying as it's more waiting and wondering when it will happen.
Well, we made a mistake of not applying for AP, and now we expect to visit our home country at this end of this year by using GC. That's why I kinda more concern of waiting for GC.
-
Congrats, wavj and Cdn_RN! The numbers before me and after me both have their cards in production, but nothing for us yet. I wonder if field office makes a difference in this case, but I don't know why it would.
Holding my breath for a notification this afternoon...
By looking at your timelines, we got biometric done at the same day. Guess what, until now my i485 is still in "Acceptance " stage. Yours is a step ahead of me.
-
Not really, the accepted "wisdom" here is there is a 50/50 split and no-one seems to know how it is decided, could be random chance.
I see. Is it true that those people who are selected to be interview waivers gotta wait longer for green card?
-
Adjusting from K1 you may get an interview waiver in which case your AoS may take some time, mine was in acceptance from Nov 2013 to July 2014
I have heard about the interview waiver too, but I'm not too sure which type of case that would be waived. Do have any ideas?
-
I've been logging onto the USCIS website to check my case status regularly. My NOA1s have 4 consecutive numbers. Looking at the 4 numbers preceding mine, it is for a package dated the same as mine, same AOS package. Today their EAD changed to card production. The ones with numbers higher than mine also aren't yet in 'card production'.
I have a theory that they go in numerical order, all else being equal (no RFEs etc). I wonder if I will be proven correct or incorrect?
Oh, I'm so glad people are starting to get responses!
I found my EAD has been approved yesterday. It's on " Card production " step now. Yeah...!!!

I replied to your other thread and I mentioned the sub forum that you could get more accurate information about the type of visas like yours. If you compare our timelines to yours then it would be inaccurate and cause you unnecessary frustration. This is the Work, Student and Tourist Visas holders that are adjusting status.
Thanks. ??? I'll check that out.
-
That's great news for everyone.
RN-sun don't worry... it takes time sometimes. complete your signature timeline so we can help you and compare. which visa are you adjusting from?
Also, you should call and see what they say, it doesn't cost anything
My status is adjusting from k1 visa.
I hope I'm gonna get some news soon.
-
Thanks! I've found it depends on where you're located and how backed up the local offices are.
Boston is moving surprisingly fast!
Good for you!!! I hope I'm gonna some news from i485 soon too.
-
It will be in "Acceptance" until it's sent to interview scheduling. It probably hasn't been sent to your local office yet.
I looked at your timeline and found you got green card really fast. Congrat !!!!

I sent my package on May 18, 2014. The package was received on May 22, 2014. I got my biometric done June 20, 2014. Until now my i485 is still at "acceptance" step, nothing move. I'm so frustrated now. ???
