  1. Well it's not really that I "found out" per se, it's that the National Benefits Center is totally separate from your local field office, so if your case is being processed at the former (as interview waiver cases are, it will tell you on your case status) then the processing times for the latter are completely irrelevant to your case.

Oh I see. It is confusing. The status online for us does say National Benefits Center, but then of course the biometrics were taken in our local office. I had figured it was really at our local office now and that the website was just wrong, but who knows...

It's really confusing me too of where our case is being proceed. I called to USCIS last time ( last month) asking about the case. They told me info base on the local office, not NBC. However, the letter of interview waiver is from NBC , so .... I'm lost. ???

  2. We filed for AOS on April 2nd 2014, had my bio April 28th, recieved EAD & AP June 19th. AOS stayed in Acceptance until 15th of september when it suddenly changed to "card production" I am still surprised how quick this went as i didnt recieve the Interview waiver letter so i was expecting a very long wait. Im so happy it took just 5 months and with no interview too.

I would like to say a big thank you to the entire Visajourney family and wish everyone the very best of luck and hope you all receive your GC very soon.

Wow !!! You are the lucky one.

Mine stay in Accaptance since May 23, 2014 and received interview waiver letter in Sept 15. So far nothing change on my status. ??

  3. Of course it's better to leave with a green card but until then, that's why Advanced Parole exists. You could have just filled in one extra form and had AP with your EAD in August!

You should file for AP as soon as possible. With your I-485 still pending, there should be no charge. Your green card won't be expedited just because it's convenient for your vacation, so I wouldn't even bother wasting time on that.

Thanks your advices. I'm sending out AP application tmr. From now on to Dec, GC or AP, whichever comes first, I just use it. It's better than just waiting for one thing.

  4. I'd rather get interview than be a waiver one for my case. Waiting for up to 6 months is way too long.

I need to visit homeland ( 5 years never met parents) for few weeks in December with hubby, when it's the only month he get long vacation from work. Yet, I can't start working too as I planed to leave by beginning of Dec. obviously, I can't stop working or take a long vacation (4-6 weeks) just after 2-3 months working. Therefore, I'd rather not to start yet.

I can't leave without GC. ??? And I have no idea when it's gonna come too. My big plan could be ruined and got lots of financial lost due to the waiting.

What should I do to get GC ASAP ? ???

P.S I did not apply for Avanced Parol as I heard it's better to leave with GC.

  5. We are waiting too. We called USCIS on Monday, and they told us our local office of Houston is processing applications for February!! Then when you call and listen to the automated system updates, and it says that the file is in Nebraska?? I don't get that you send to Chicago lockbox, then its transfered to Nebraska, then the processing times are based on the local office?

I have made 2 phone calls to them to ask about this question ( sent to Chicago, transferred to NBC, processing in local office). The answers that I got were exactly the same as what u got, which I don't think it's an accurate answer.

However, what I am thinking now is that, all the packages need to be sent to Chicago. Then, Chicago office will forward i765 to NBC or Nebraska, and forward i485 to field office accordingly to where we live.

The reason I assumed that it may work in these way cuz once check the processing time in NBC, it only shows i765, not i485.

What i still don't understand on top of this is that, they told me that USCIS is still working of "Date shows on field office" ( example, Mar 11,2014 for LA office- as the pic attached here), but I found some people who have sent their files around May already got approval and some got date for interview long time ago.

I don't understand why they waste the money to hire those people who could not even provide an accurate answer or solution to customers. ????

  6. Same thing happened to me. I made an infopass (which was easy), i decided to give them a call yesterday and the lady asked for my full name and my SSN reference and after checking on her system she told me to go head and cancel the appointment as my card should be coming within 7 days. I actually went to their office last tuesday and that helped a lot.

My advice is to go by yourself to their office so they know that you're waiting for your SSN

I currently can't make the info pass. I also gave 2 calls to SS office so far, but they kept telling me the same thing that they are unable to process it. I'm not sure if I should give a try to visit the office again. It's been a month already though.

  7. Good Luck. Let me know how you go.

As I read in another person signature: "This process is not quick, You will not enjoy this". For those who go thru troubles like yourself, it rings true. Hold onto the light at the end that one day we can all wipe our hands of dealing with USCIS on a daily/monthly basis. The waiting, hoping and information needed drives anyone crazy ;)

i called SS office today. They said they have not proceed anything yet till the immigration update my status in the system.

Then, i called the USCIS regarding my i765 to see if they can help me anything. The lady on the phone told me that i need to make an appointment at the field office. I went through the website to make the appointment as she told me. Unfortunately, that site does not allowed me to make any appointment at all. https://infopass.uscis.gov/

    I'm so stuck now. :cry::cry::cry::cry:

  8. Hi Guys!

Just wanted to let you know that we had the AOS interview this morning.

So it was in Newark NJ, Broad street federal building.

The appointment was at 8.45am we got there at 8.30. We had to go through security and it took at least 15 mins but the guys were very nice. They took my tweezers though :( so don't bring anything like tweezers or clippers etc.

We checked in at the 14th floor at 9am, we had to wait for 2 hours as it was freezing. They finally called my name, we got in the office with the immigration Officer Mr Rodriguez.

He first asked for IDs, then a proof that we were living in Jersey City, I didn't bring any lease or utility bills as I thought that both our names should be on the bills (only my husbands name is on the bills but we have a joint account). Also we forgot to file out the G-325A form for my husband, I thought that it was only for me, so he told us to go back to the waiting area and then came back (after verifying that we were really living in JC) with the form for us to file out.

Then we started the real interview after this huge waste of time. At first he appeared very difficult and not nice but then he was the total opposite.

He first asked my husband: "How did you meet your wife? When? Was she married before? Does she have any kids from a previous marriage?"

Then he asked me: "was your husband married before? Any kids?" Then he asked the questions that are on the I-485 form such as "did you participate in any crime blablabla..." So you just have to say no.

He asked if I had any additional paper to give him, I gave him a copy of my EAD and showed him my job offer letter. He was impressed that I got a job that fast.

And then he said it was approved :)

He was very nice and fast.

Later in the afternoon I got an update on my case saying that my green card was on "production" and then another one saying that they mailed the notice.

A little advice, always look at your partner when he/she talks :)

Hope this helps, good luck to everyone else!

So happy to be done. Check my timeline for more info on my case!

That's real fast. I'm so happy for you. Congratulation !!!! I'm still waiting for the news of my application. No news at all here. ?

  9. Try contact them again either in person or over the phone and ask them to do a "SAVE Manual Verification". Only thing with that is that it can take quite a few weeks to process. However, if you have been given a Interview waiver or have not heard yet if interview is required, then I would go ahead with the manual verification. You may need to complete the G-845 in order to help the process..

    G-845 - http://www.uscis.gov/g-845

    Other than that..

    1. Google can be your best friends so try searching up a little to see if anyone else has come across the same issue and maybe how they resolved it.

    2. Get a 2nd, 3rd or 4th opinon from Social Security (phone or in person).

Something should be done and can be done for you, you might just have to keep trying to find someone who knows about the immigration process and what can be done at the certain stages of it. As we all know, it's a long process..

    Best wishes

I tried to call SS office today. Unfortunately, they close at 12nn on Wednesday, so I'm gonna try again tomorrow. However, I did make another call to USCIS to ask if my EAD would be related to the status of my i485 ( still in Acceptance). The lady on the phone told me that, " it's not related. Once the EAD card is issued, it's done. You may have to contact / make an appointment with the local USCIS to see if they have update your file".

I'll go ahead make the appointment with the local office tomorrow if SS office told that there is nothing in their system still.

The link you provided to me was exact same situation that I have. I'll make another try tmr to see what happen.

    Thanks for your help.

  10. Just a simple question,

Did you know you could make SSN CARD BEFORE YOUR WEDDING?

I actually went to SS office once ( about 3-4 weeks after POE). I used my i94 as proved document, but the lady there said that my i94 is going to expired end of July, so she can't issue card for me. She told me to wait till I get my green card cuz my last name will be changed too. I end up wasting about 2 hrs waiting there on that day. After that I just kept waiting till I got my EAD and went there again on Aug 12. I met a guy. He took my application, but he told me wait till immigration update the status first.Till now I have not got any news yet. That sucks. I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Definately try another office or ask for another person. I applied for my SSN before our wedding.. (day 15 after POE) The first lady said that I couldn't do it until I had EAD. I told her that it was possible. There is a page on VJ that explains it all.. I printed it out and took it with me, The lady I got went to ask her manager. He came back and took over the process and told me that she had inputted the wrong codes into the system and it was denying everything which made it look like I couldn't get a card.

After entering the right codes for the I-94 and K1 visa it all went thru. I got a confirmation letter on the day to say card had been ordered and I think with 7-10 my SSN had arrived.

That's great experience. I'm gonna call SS office again to see if they have done anything yet. If not, I'm going to apply at another office. Thanks for ur info.

  11. I'm so frustrated now. No news at all for my i485. It's been sitting at " Acceptance" forever since May.

I got EAD , but I still can't go to work cuz I got no SSN yet. SS office can't issue me number cuz there is no status updated in there system. This is so weird. In Canada, people get the SIN (SSN) right away after they bring the work permit in to Service Canada office. Having work permit in hand means everything is good to go. How come in here, having EAD in hand is just like having nothing. ???
