  1. I think regardless of any organizer's personal opinions on the matter, the above guidelines need to be followed by all until there happens to be a change in the policy.

I agree. And I just want to reiterate that even after reading the rules, if you (generic you) can justify moving a thread out of a regional forum...is it really necessary? I think in 99% of the cases it's a solution with no problem.

The regional forums are really just a subset of the rest of the site, condensed down into groups of people with a common regional interest. We don't have an off-topic sub-forum, we have off-topic threads. We don't have a "Case status" sub-forum, we have threads with case status. It's a system that just works. We resent somebody who has never even given us the courtesy of finding out how things are done in our forum, coming in and making arbitrary decisions about content we ourselves generated, even if you are just "enforcing" the rules. If we need enforcement, we will call you.

Anyway, I know the problem has been addressed, and I appreciate everyone's help in clearing things up. I just want to make the point that just because you CAN move a thread, even under the rules, doesn't mean you necessarily should.

It might be a system that works for those using the particular forum, but it really doesn't work very well for the whole of the site. New and infrequent users of the site don't use the Regionals - they look for information in the upper forums.

I would wager a guess that if we could see the data for the number of users in a particular regional forum vs. upper category forums, you'd find those users to be a much lower number. Information needs to be where the greatest number of users can find it.

Somewhat to the contrary, I think about 1/2 the current users would not go to the upper forums, but just stop using the site completly, if the regionals were done away with.

Alot of people come back when they are "done" to keep posting in their region of interest, and also do a little help. Getting rid of forums would just make them go away.

  2. Okey,

I just talked to a "nice lady" in Vladivostok Dr. Luchaninova. She is quite a personality. She totally refused to proved me with any information regarding med exam unless I will provide her with an interview letter. I don't have one and my interview in exactly in three weeks. Also Dr. Luchaninova is going to be in Vladivostok only till the end of this week and couple days before I leave for my interview. I have already asked US Embassy to give me an email confirmation about my interview appointment hoping I still can do my medical here. But if it doesn't work, I know it is risky but can I do my medical in one day with IOM a day before interview????

    Thank you,

What a pain to leave so far away from Moscow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You absolutly can do the medical a day before the interview. My memory is hazy, but I believe that is how we did it. I have also read of others who did.

As always, you take your chances if something comes up, but it will work!

  3. When I was 19 years old, I had a 16 year old girlfriend and was charged with having sex with a minor. I know the general public's perception of a sex offender is a child molester or rapist but I am neither. And it bugs me to no end that I somehow ended up being grouped in this category. I was a teenager with a teenage girlfriend that happened to be a little younger than me. I was given a 6 month jail sentence for this. I am 25 years old now and have not committed any crime since nor do I ever plan to. I have met a wonderful woman overseas and wish to be with her but due to the Adam Walsch Act I'm wondering if I would be able to get a K1 Visa. Or if I have any chance to bring her over at all. I really wish to be with this woman but am scared that I might not be able to. Any advice or information would greatly be appreciated.
Were I in charge of the law, you would have been executed. Adults are not supposed to have sex with children. Period.

What if I were 18 years and one day old, and my 'rape victim' was 17 years and 355 days old?

  4. I would certainly have to agree with the other posters...

You have 2 bad experiences where you quickly applied for K1. A pattern has developed (in your case).

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.. Fool me 3 times, well, something along the lines of, take a hard look in the mirror and think of a new approach.

  5. Just wait for the conditional greencard to come. There is no other reason for an 11-year old to have a SSN. Once he has the CGC, go apply for the SSN if you feel the need.

SSN is used nowadays for more than work purposes.... If the CGC will not arrive before tax filing or if you want to open a bank account or start a college savings plan you may wish to submit the I-765 in addition to the I-485 when time comes... No additioanl cost other than passport photos...

Yes, I have done all these things. Why can't it wait 6-8 months? What is the rush? My daughter has her SSN now, but it wasn't a big deal.

    Relax.

  6. Just a hypothetical here guys.... but what if the U.S. and Russia really did get in a fight someday?

Could you "man the lines" against your S/O's countrymen?

I assume the govt. would get all 442 on us and send us to fight in the sandbox instead, but could you do it now? I know there are a few of us on here who trained, at length, to do just that but has it changed now that we have a "conflict of interests" here at home?

    I for one could not.

If there was a war declared my wife, the hyper-Russian patriot, would kill me first in the name of "mother Russia"!

I have no doubt she loves her country more then me. She might love bread and butter more then me too... I don't know, but I am sure she loves her country more.

  7. My first car was a 1967 Mustang. I had access to lots of cars because my father owned an autobody shop. This particular needed lots of work, but it was a former bracket racer so it had a close-ration 4 speed and a narrowed 9-inch rear end to get me started. It was a fun project. I started on it when I was 13. I started driving when I was 14 (shh don't tell the policeman!)

Since it was being worked on alot of the time I also drove... a 72 opel GT, a 72 toyota corrolla, an 82 buick regal (very nice car in retrospect), a 70 impala, a 77 chevy pickup, and a 72 Chevy Nova. I don't know what it was about 1972... they just happened to be the cars I had access to buy cheaply... Oh, this was before I turned 18, then I I got rid of those cars and moved on to others.
