Russia is fine, but I am not Russian. There are too many obstacles for me, unless I was in a more 'cultural' center such as Moscow or St. Pete. That doesn't mean if given a choice I would live in a big city like that, its just the only choices for me as far as Russia is concerned. If I was smarter and saved money (I am dumb and waste money) I would love to retire somewhere more rural in Russia. But that just isn't gonna happen any time soon.
It is a real personal decision, but I think if you step back and look at just facts, Russia, and Russians trying to get by, have more problems to overcome (instability, corruption, poverty, racism etc.). Mox, Americans have it better then I think you give us credit for (although we can whine pretty loud sometimes).

I'd live in Moscow, but my company won't transfer me. There is nothing with my skillset there.
Outside of Moscow and St. Pete, I wouldn't want to live in Russia. Actually, scratch that, I wouldn't want to live in Russia at all, but would make the sacrifice if it were those 2 places.
I think perhaps, you romaticize about life in Russia too much. Then again, maybe not, to each thier own.

If my Russian wife got a job driving a metro bus, I am quite sure people would die. Maybe they are on to something there?
-
Same exact thing happened with us. 2 different letters with 2 different numbers. So far things have proceded normally (except we had to wait an abnormally long time for daughters NOA, and nothing happened until I called).

I think this discussion is right on topic. When you are talking about relationships with Americans with Russians, this cultural difference makes a difference.
I know I do all those things for my wife. I assumed it showed I loved her. To an American woman, it might. To a Russian woman, you better do all those things, and it really proves nothing. Try not doing those things and see what happens...
You can agree or disagree with it if you want. You can blame it on whatever you want. It still exists.
This goes both ways I am sure. American woman with Russian men probably have some reverse issues where they think a guy is showing affection, but he is just doing his 'cultural duty' in his mind.
Going back to the original poster, this is probably one of the things going on in their marriage. He is an American man. He grew up conditioned to let the woman be equal, and open her own damn doors (a simplification I know), and after 2 years, he is reverting back. It doesn't mean he doesn't love you, he spent many many years doing that, as it is the accepted way in America. Of course there are probably other things, but this might be one of them.

I never saw anyone call feminism "nasty", until you brought it up, Mox.

"How much does a pineapple cost?
For a whole pineapple, $7."
Why not raid the pineapple fields at night for a second income?

Agreed about Russian men being very helpful and curtious tword women, and not just their wives.
However, for the most part, if American men tried that with many American women, they would get cold stares and nasty comments about minding their own business. I'm not a hater, just my observations.

Thank you for the reply. I have heard of cases like yours were it takes 20 days or so, but we are closing in on 40 days. My wife is done.
Unfortunatly, I do not have the luxury of waiting too long. There is the issue of her becoming 'illegal' and also the issue of travel.
I'm not looking for approval of any sort, I just want the reciept, and the 1 year extension.

So it appears that CSC overlooked our daughter on the I-751 form, and did not issue her a green card renewal. I would like to know, with all specifics, of other people in this situation. What exactly did you do? What worked and what didn't?
I cannot open a infopass appointment, since officially, not enough time has passed. However, my wife has recieved all her documents, and we recieved nothing concerning our daughter.
I have looked over my copy of the I-751 package I sent, and I can find nothing wrong with what I sent them. Our daughter is clearly listed in all documents.
Anyone can help?
Thanks

Hi, how do I set up an infopass appointment? And, is there any other option?
My wife recieved her NOA from the I-751 about a month ago, and has already done biometrics. Our daughter was included in the I-751 and has not recieved an NOA, or anything for that matter. It is important we recieve one so we can travel, and of course, so she can be legal.
I have heard of the NOA's being seperated, but not by a month. Is infopass next step, or is there another option?
Thanks

My knee jerk reaction after reading your message is, find a good attorney.
I don't usually advocate lawyers, but in your case, there are too many complications to trust yourself with handling this.
-
I appreciate your responses.
I am not necessarily "worried". I did everything correctly, I am sure. Eventually it will get sorted out.
What I AM "worried" about is I gave the USCIS alot of money, and all I need is a proper reciept. I need it so I can travel this summer with my daughter and fufill obligations.

It has been about 20 days and no letter.
What is the next logical step? Infopass appointment?
Thanks

Ok, I guess I will be the one to say it...
Think whatever you want of the behavior.. BUTTTT
Since when is it illegal to get a BJ? Does it matter if the person is a prostitute (in this case it was not)?
Maybe it is illegal to pay for one, but a free one?
Lots of people in this forum need to be arrested and thrown in jail if that is the case.

Show her the I-751 form. There is a 'check box' for 'sponser is dead' or something like that. The paper work is not a big deal.

There are a couple states that offer the DMV booklets in Russian langauge. Even if you do not live in that state, it is probably worth it to get for her if she is not comfortable with the English ones. You can fill in the gaps later.

Cix and mox, I made the ceremony comments on purpose.
As I understood your comment, you believed he was talking about a legal marriage in Russia, in which case you would be right, the K1 would be invalidated. But to be clear, having a ceremony without registering the marriage doesn't void the K1, and this is what he's talking about.
I tend to skip over lots of things when I read through here, but it sounds like he is going to do a K1, but do a ceremony without a 'license' in Russia?
If you do, do not use any, or take any of the pictures to the consulate as evidence. Do it, get it out of your system, then pretend it didn't happen. There are many stories where a ceremony took place, and couples were denied, even though no 'rules' were broken.
Read a few forums here, you are bound to find someone who got burned.

They have different reciept numbers.
And although they eventually say the same thing, "1 year extension, wait for biometrics letter", they are COMPLETLY different in format. In other words, they look entirely different, with completely different wording.
Strange, no?
-
My wife recieved 2 NOA letters that said essentially the same thing. They were each on the same paper with the USCIS watermark, but the 'format' was different. But they said the same thing...
Is this unusual? Did everyone else recieve 2 letters? Just curious...

Thanx!! Oh I misread the fees, it is $131, not $141. So bad news is I have to pay twice but the good news is I save $20. :)
You're going to pay more than twice..... $262 is just the tip of the iceberg!
If I remember correctly, this is actually one thing my wife did pay for. I remember saying something like, "if she really wants to come here, she'll find a way to get to Moscow and her interview." I, of course, paid for almost every single thing since then, but at least she did make the effort to get the ball rolling. Got me good, huh?

Interesting that they do it that way, but oh well! Thanks for the info.
-
So my wife filed a I-751 with our daughter as co-applicant. We paid the correct fees, they cashed the check, but the letter they sent to us did not include our daughters name anywhere.
Will this cause any problems when we travel outside the country after the initial green card expires?
Anyone have any experience with this? They came on a K1 and K2 visa respectivly.

I did the usual, I got in trouble for forgetting.
Did you consider living in Russia?
in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus
