dwightcharles got a reaction from sevenrider860 in Can I enter the United States with a Philippine Passport expiring in less than 6 months as a Permanent Resident w/ Green Card?
Hi guys. I am Dwight and a Permanent Resident of the United States and I am a Filipino citizen.
I really don't know what to feel right now. I think I am gonna be sick.
I was so excited to come home to the Philippines FOR THE FIRST time since I moved to the United States. I wanted to be home for Cebu's Sinulog where I am from and see my friends, eat the food (the struggle is real), and just be there even for a short while. I've been homesick since my first day here.
So earlier I called Cebu Pacific to book a roundtrip flight. I was super ready. As in Super ready that I designed a t-shirt for my friends and I to wear during Sinulog. I contacted a silk screen printer to do it and all. When I was about to give the rep my credit card information, she told me what later on caused my heart to be crushed into bits and pieces.
"Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months to travel"
I just went blank for a moment and saw images of my plans falling apart.
My passport is expiring April 29, 2015 which is apx 4 months away. It is NOT expired. I did a lot of research about this and found out that I can actually enter the Philippines with my current passport because Bureau of Immigration doesnt have any passport requirements for Filipino citizens entering the country, just as long as its valid upon arrival.
However, I read on New York's embassy that I might have a problem flying back to the US because the Philippines require that passports need to have 6 months validity for travel abroad.
Does this apply to me though? I mean I am already a permanent resident and I have my green card.
Also I already renewed my passport last November 20th but it takes a minimum of 8 weeks to get the card. I still have my current passport because I am a flight attendant and I need it for my job at all times.
So I still have a valid passport in hand, expiring april 29th which is more than 60 days.
Guys have u tried this? I really wanna go back home. I miss the Philippines so much.
Can I really not fly back to the US with my passport? Will Philippine airport security not let me board my fight because of this?
Please help me. I already emailed BOI and each minute that passes i get more and more frustrated because the longer I wait the more expensive the air fare gets and im sure they wont respond until normal business hours or worse after the holiday season.

Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.

I understand. I was raised in the Philippines where 90% of the households dont know what "face the wall" is.
I had the tsinelas (slipper), the belt, the walis ting ting (broom stick), UGH its funny when I think about it now but lol in a Filipino household, the punishment is something that you really wanna try to avoid when your a kid.
I had all kinds of punishment really.
I guess its because that it was my stepfather who did this to me.

Thank you for this. Apparently, he has been divorced 2 times already and even his real daughter knows how he is. I just cant stand it anymore. I can no longer bear seeing my mom, and my younger sister who is just 13 crying over such matters that should be kept private for adults to solve.
Sometimes, I just ask myself for how long do we have to put up with all of these? When is enough. When my real dad was still alive, I never saw my mom cry. I never saw my mom cry like this. She even expresses all her anger towards us because she cannot confront my stepdad.
My mom actually already wanted to move out too but she doesnt know what her options are.

So I just moved to the US in 2012 along with my other siblings. I currently have a green card and I am a permanent resident. Since I got here, I didn't really like my stepdad. I tried to look through his flaws but it just made me hate him even more. :C
He shouts at my mom. He complains about almost everything, including bills to why there's no more ice cream in the fridge. I just do not get it. I am 22 and I really want to move out of this house. I just don't get it. I am already working and I earn around $780 biweekly. I give him $250 biweekly for my share in this house and so does my sister. We pay for our own things, from deo to shampoo to lunch for work. He still complains in our face about bills and all that. He whines about the miles on his car, the gas, and all that.
My mom works really hard. She has a tough and challenging job and when she gets home, she even cooks a separate dinner for him and serves him. The whole day he's just playing in the computer. He shouts a lot to my mom and it hurts and annoys me. I wish I could do something but I havent really gotten past my boiling point yet to stand up for her.
There's just so many things already that he's done that made us cry, my mom, my sisters, even my younger brother. There was also one time, we had pork roast for dinner and I had ketchup with it, he went like "Now I just feel like you are insulting me. Ketchup is meant to be used for cheap meats." and then when my younger sister explained how we like to use ketchup in the Philippines, he said this: "That's because you're poor in the Philippines!" and that was it for me. I just hated him so much after that. He also accused us just recently of stealing $20 from his little bank box and we're like WHAT THE?!!!? WHY WOULD I STILL $20 from youuuuu!!!????? why would we still $20 PERIOD???? and he warned us that no one can ever enter their room or else "there would be hell to pay."
And also my mom has been crying because of him a lot lately and since my mom cannot really confront him, my step dad thinks that we are the one who are making her cry.
I am just soooo tired of it. So we are no longer talking to him. When he asks us question, of course, we do respond but other than that we're cold and we just hate him.
And just tonight, my sister told me that she learned from my mom that my stepdad is threatening to send us back to the Philippines because were no longer talking to him.
Can he actually do that? My mom filed the petition and not him. Do you guys think that he can actually do this to us?
I'm just like tired of it. I feel like I am better off moving out and renting my own apartment rather than being here in his house and I feel miserable.
    Thank you.
