shippingforecast reacted to Julie+Matt in Visiting is bittersweet
Yeah, the customer service was odd to me. I got "greeted" & that was it. I work in customer service & I'm very friendly. One problem I had, at the airport, I got an iced latte at a cafe & my credit card has an American flag on it. The guy looked at my card & stopped being nice to me. I don't know how else to explain it...it was quite odd.
I did, however get sick my first visit & had to go to a walk-in. Granted, we were there for 3 hours total, but they were friendly & didn't blink an eye when treating me when I said I was American. I didn't have to pay a dime...only £7 for my prescription.

~Commentary about traveling during TSC visa progression~
(organizer hat off)
Thanks for your eloquent description of bittersweet memories. There are a lot of us that recall those moments. I visited my then-fiancee three times during that part of our visa journey. For me it was the air flight time that was the hardest, couldn't wait to get there, didn't want to leave when the visit was over.
Hang in there!

I feel for you as the leaving part is horrible. The first time I left my wife at Heathrow as I walked back to my car after saying goodbye they were playing "Bye Bye Baby." Who does that?!

shippingforecast reacted to B & G in NVC PROCESS TAKING TOO LONG
Check out the May NVC thread. As for the waiting times, unfortunately it is consistent for everyone going through NVC at the moment.

shippingforecast reacted to Julie+Matt in Visiting is bittersweet
On my trip the other week, we were sleeping & I had a dream I was back at home & got upset because I thought I still had more time in England. I woke up & Matt was next to me. I hugged him so hard when I realized I was still there. Now, I wake up, thinking he's there & it's just a big pillow. It's so sad...
Also, I think I'm the only one who can't handle FaceTime or skype. We talk over Xfire at least once a day & text the rest. We tend to talk & play video games together. But seeing him & not being able to touch him just hurts too much. I also can't look him in the eyes & it's...weird...

So I was driving to work this morning and recieved a text from USCIS that my case was recieved with a reciept number etc. I checked my email as soon as I got to work and the acceptance confirmation email says I am being routed to the Nebraska Service Center! SOOOOOO HAPPY!!! The odd thing is my check has not been cashed. Is that normal to recieve a reciept with out the check being cashed?

Welcome! What a great story! I wish you both well, and I just wanted to say, I LOVE your username! It has to be my favourite! Hubby (UKC) laughs at me because I used to fall asleep listening to BBC RADIO 4 and I miss hearing the shipping forecast in the middle of the night and first thing in the morning. He tells me I'm a dork!

Hehe I was too, I was very shy at first and browsed around for months before daring to post anything, but everyone is amazing about making you feel welcome and helping with questions, even tiny ones. So before you know it, you're commenting on random threads like you've been here for years

shippingforecast got a reaction from JTB11 in Star Rant, Return of the Jada
We (being my wife and I) try and stay health conscious, and pizza is my Achilles heel. She actually managed to make a relatively healthy pizza with a crust made from cauliflower. Don't ask me how. I have Italian in my family so I can only really cook ridiculously heavy food. My lasagne is the bomb, though, dawg.

My lovely wife is from Perth! I've been there as well to visit and meet other members of her family that haven't been to America. I know that they just won the football championship last weekend!!! Sounds like it was quite exciting.

shippingforecast reacted to QueenOfBlades in The True Approval doesn't come till Issued Status
You've already been told how unlikely that is. The document lady and the IO both know what they want to see and they ask for it. If they didn't ask for it, forget about it.
If you carry on like this, you're going to be an emotional wreck further along in the process. The K-1 is only the beginning of a very long immigration journey. Sometimes you have to learn not to worry yourself to death, let go and accept what happens will happen and that you will deal with it as a couple. You have to, for the sake of your sanity.

Here is the story: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/230871-denied-at-poe/
Also, if you were my friend or my sister, I would strongly recommend you try to find someone to help you find strategies to deal with your anxiety; you can't live like that and make yourself miserable...

I agree... Quit being such a Debbie downer... I heard of glass held full or half empty, but you seem not just to be a glass half empty person... But a glass half empty and broken at the top and the sharp edges likely to cut you and you would bleed to death because you were unable to dial 911 with your bloody stump of fingers so you might as well never bother to drink from a glass again regardless of how full or empty... Sheesh...
Just sit back, let them do their process and wait for the passport with the visa. No need to microanalyze ... Celebrate for one moment that your fiancé did good... Tell him he did well, give him some positivity that is what a spouse does, supports through positive encouragement... Give it a try...

Ugh. Why do you have to make things so difficult and stressful for yourself? At your point in the process, I was off my tits that the interview had gone well and I was approved, and just kept checking my CEAC every day until it said "Issued". Once it got there, also again very happy, went through at POE with no issues at all. The horror stories are not common. I get the feeling you're a very pessimistic person; you always look for the negative in everything, even his interview that went well. You also said about giving up when you thought he'd failed the medical. Stop being so negative and just look forward to him coming to be with you.

Welcome! Times have been pretty quick for NOA1, so I wouldn't be surprised if you got it by Thursday or Friday, honestly (even accounting for Memorial Day).
