Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

This is the info from Mexican Consulate in San Francisco: “US Residents: If your United States visa stamped on your passport already expired but you have an official document proving your legal status in USA, you must apply for a Mexican visa (I-797 A Forms, Advance Parole Forms, I-20 OR DS-2019 Forms won’t be accepted to entering Mexico), unless you have a valid Visa for any of the countries listed above (Canada, Japan, United Kingdom or Schengen area).”

Yuliya Lipina reacted to Dashinka in I think I got some pretty bad immigration advice today
If the choice the two of you made was to file for a CR1, I would stick with it.  She was wrong in many aspects, first of all, the majority of CR1s are processing in 12-14 months, and secondly as you told her, your husband can visit while the application is processed.  He will however have to prove to CBP each time that he does not intend to stay when he attempts to enter the US possibly through showing his ties to Italy.  Also, her advice to a use a lawyer, and that using a lawyer will speed things up is totally untrue.  Certainly many people use a lawyer either for supposed peace of mind, or because they have a complicated case such as criminal issues, etc, but it is not required as many here will attest to.  Also, using a lawyer will not speed anything up no matter what she, or any lawyer tells you.  Perusing VJ you may come across many instances or stories where a lawyer actually process down.

Regardless, I would stay the course as you already decided.

    Good Luck!

Thank you! I filed on 03/11, officially it got registered on 03/16. I had my interview today. It didn't go well. Basically, I was told that I didn't meet 3 year of marital union requirement. I filed 90 days in advance and I didn't leave with my husband at the same address prior to immigrating to the USA due to the nature of his occupation at the time (Peace Corps Volunteer). The lady said they would send a letter, but there is a great chance it will get denied and I will have to re-file. She said she wished I waited and filed later. So today was not my day at all

Slow down. Meet first and see how it goes.

The quickest way isn't always the best way. Especially for couple who will have only met once. Take time to compare ALL aspects of the two visa types before making a decision based purely on lust and the thrill of a new relationship.

My paper application was received March 30th and my priority date is April 7th (inline for interviews April 27th). I just received a  notification tonight that my interview has been scheduled.  Will keep this group posted on when it's scheduled.  May be a sign that chicago paper filers are starting to move?!?

I received the first notice with the date of 12/18 on 11/17 and then a week later around 11/25 I received the second one with 12/12 date. My situation is probably not all that typical. Usually applicants get their interview notices 4-5 weeks before the actual interview date.

USCIS observes the federal holidays they should be open on any other date. The only thing is that there are a lot of employees  that take off for the holidays so USCIS may schedule less interviews closer to Christmas and New Year or if they overschedule, applicants might receive good old interview cancellations "due to unforeseen circumstances" aka somebody took a couple of days off.

    Hi Yulia,
i recommend you to call them and clarify what day is the decent day of your interview. I read somewhere the same about the same situation and the same advise of the attorney. So let you double check. I know it takes time to call USCIS but I would do that it I got two invitation letters...

Yuliya Lipina reacted to Fortuna7 in America has been my homeland for years now and I love the way it feels.
My whole life was an amazing journey with ups and downs, downs because I've witnessed a war for the whole 10 years in Bosnia the country I was born in. At the time I was only 14 years old  and I was forced to grow up over night. I really never had enough time to process anything...in order to stay sane I had to be on the go at all times. During the war time I was trying to finish the high school as I only had 2 years left but I really never knew when it would be the last time I'll see my family and friends alive which was always in the back of my head! So I promised myself to keep those fears to myself and try to move forward and I have.

    10 years later

Survived the war, visited USA on my student exchange visa J-1 in 2004. The day I've entered America I've felt the butterflies. I've felt the freedom I never felt before.

    Today and forever

I Thank You America for taking me in for giving me a better life.
