I know other "non-radicalized" Islamists here in the states and this has never been part of their practice. I agree with the previous comment about getting married and going for a spousal visa. There are long waits for K1 visas and you could potentially wait a long time to get a denial. It's not worth the risk.

I don't think you can explain your situation away. You haven't got a convincing argument. The two requirements are that you have got to be both free to marry, and that you have met in person in the last two years. They are very strict on this. The link below will take you to administrative decisions made by USCIS on appeal. There are many that failed to meet that one requirement, and were denied.

I'm so grateful to be at the end of this process.. I feel sorry for the people who are only at the beginning, and wondering how long it will take for NOA2.. Such a horrible process. I finally got to leave my review of the embassy also. Haha!

Obviously it's not a quick fix.. This happened on the 20th and here it is the 31st...
My lying consulate said they issued our visa on the 18th after an excrutiating 6 weeks of waiting after my fiance's interview, only to backtrack and say the visa hadn't been interviewed because of this delay. IDIOTS.

Received this morning... It's been 7 weeks since my fiance's interview and now this..
"Dear Applicant,

Although we have completed adjudication of your visa application, we are unable to take final action on the visa at this time. We hope to have our system fully operational again soon, but currently we do not have a timeline for when this may happen. If you have travel planned in the near future, we would suggest adjusting your travel arrangements accordingly.
Again, we recognize and regret the inconvenience this may cause. If you would like your passport returned to you (without the visa) please let us know and we will return it for later issuance.
We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this matter."

We frequently got over-the-weekend and weird-time-of-day updates. (Still do, actually.) And no, there isn't someone working on your case at midnight US ET. What there almost certainly is, is a batch update process that runs after everyone is done with work for the day (or possibly week, depending), and a mailer daemon scheduled to send emails during the off-hours. (IOW, it's automated stuff; you're not seeing someone touch your case live.)

Maybe one secret agency from usa governement was working in your case and updated it. Lol
I was checking a friend's parents case and I noticed that was updated on saturday 12 and issued on monday 14.
The consulate here doesnt work on saturday, so probaly are the usa agencies who work in the cases. That isnt a secret that usa after the patriot act spy people and have the control of everything with a lot of agencies, maybe the watch all papers before give the permition to the embassy to issue a visa, who knows.

They might not question your relationship, but maybe you should. He cheated on you. Whty would you want to be with him?

Don't be paranoid, they are probably just working on your case. Don't worry. They are probably just working on your case with your email as their "last update". Still calm. Breath. You will be over with your love soon.

I'm so excited! We got an approval! NOA2 via email. I hope its not a mistake like the address change we didn't request!

I know, I know, it makes no sense - this is immigration remember! Recreate it then, it's only 6 pages.
That is odd though, if you think about it because (technically) that won't be the I129F that was approved, even though it might contain the same information. Won't your approved one have stamps from USCIS all over it actually approving it? Weird.
