Ok, I'm sure this has been addressed here...but it's been years since I've been on and I need help please.  

Went thru the K1 Visa Process...got married...for the most part everything is amazing.  My current wife had a child prior to us meeting and that child came to the US on the K1 visa with her.  He's a great guy (despite some academic laziness).    

Both wife and her son, became permanent residents and then eventually my wife became a citizen.  From everything I can tell, her son automatically became a citizen too.  

But this is where I need help!! PLEASE!!!  How does my son get paperwork to prove he's a citizen??  His last name is different from my wife's last name bcuz from my understanding that's how they do it in Kenya...his last name is my wife's middle name...We want to get him a US passport?  Plus for insurances purposes I'm being asked to provide documents to prove his citizenship, I don't have any.....

Plus his school records are messed up becuz we registered him in school when he first got here with her last name, but that's not truly his last name on any legal document, so once we have documents proving he's a US citizen, we want to change his name to match ours.....and then get his school records to match that.  

URGH!!! Please HELP!!

Then they asked the typical, have you recruited girls for prostitution, have you been a terrorist, are you of foreign nobility, etc.  Of course she answered truthfully no.  And that was it....maybe 15 minutes and he said a letter should come in a week or 2 regarding the swearing in ceremony.  My wife is due (pregnant) Feb 23rd, so he told her if she can't make it then she can just send something in, that it will be in the letter.  Hope that gives everyone here some insight....And hopefully we are done with visa journey and the uscis.  Thanks for all the help on here over the years!!  Some of you have given me tremendous advice.  I never paid a lawyer and did everything myself....so again THANK YOU!!!

Passed my interview this morning. Got the first six questions right so those were all I was asked. They're short on attendees for the oath ceremony on Thursday so asked if I'd "volunteer" for that one instead of waiting a month. Um, yes. I would very much like to be done. So by Thursday I'll be a citizen.

Well....we got an email Friday and had an issue logging into our account....but today we were able to get in to our account and WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT!!!!!  January 14th, 2019 in the city in which we live....Jacksonville, FL!  

To the people who haven't heard yet.....our case said 12 months but we filed Oct. 23rd and our interview appt is less than 90 days later...so keep your head up, it will probably go faster than it says on your USCIS account.

Interesting....more are approved then received so obviously those came in during a time period prior to data being gathered.  It would lead me to believe that the received applications were slowing down but I guess that’s impossible to say for sure.

We got ours today too.  Biometrics on Nov 16 and saying 14 months (Dec 2019) to completion.

Got an email at 6am.  Biometrics is scheduled and out approx completion is Dec 2019.  The biometrics scheduling was really fast.  Amazing!

Thank you, I will show her your compliment.  Yes Europeans have it somewhat easier.  Even now when we go to Kenya to visit her family...I like to break up the trip by trying to find a really long layover in Europe somewhere (Ive been to London, Paris, Brussels, Zurich, Amsterdam for 10+ hrs or more).  2 years ago we had to switch my wife's tickets because we found out she couldn't leave the airport in London or Paris. SMH...this year we had a 12 hour layover in Doha and they told her she could leave the airport with the extension letter and her kenyan passport but when we got there they denied her and we were stuck in the airport for 12hours (we could have booked a 1 hr layover in Doha and onto Nairobi).  Since my wife is amazing, she insisted I go into Doha and leave her in the airport...which I did but just for an hour and I grabbed her some lunch from a local shop.  TBH, the only reason we are even doing the citizenship things is so my wife can have a US passport and we don't have to deal with these annoyances, plus getting a GC every 10 years...but the travel is definitely the more immediate issue.

We got married in August 2015. Filed for permanent residency the same month, August 2015. I got my (conditional) green card in January 2016. It went like a breeze...
Then I applied for ROC in Nov. 2017 and as we know, it is crickets since. Soooo slow.
Anyways, a little over 3 years since our marriage and 2 years 9 months since being my conditional GC approved. 
I have no clue what a I-129F is, I never filed for anything like that. 

I-129F is the paperwork to get a K1 Visa. I met my wife in 2012 online....went to Kenya a few times and then we decided to try to do the paperwork honestly just so she could visit and we could see if living together for 3 months we would want to get married....and it all went well so we did.

For all our applications I have screenshot FB and IG and dropped the screenshots into a google Doc, then downloaded it as a PDF.  I did about 20-30 pix total each application and have never had an issue with getting approved (except long wait times).  But because our FB /IG names are on the screenshots I feel like they can always look us up online too if they need more proof.

Literally every single step for us has taken forever.  We've done everything they've asked of us, in a timely manner and with plenty of documentation.  I don't know why everything has taken so long.  Thankfully my wife doesn't even care that much about it....I'm the one who stresses, researches and follows up with everything.  You are literally to the day, 2 years faster than us.

Just looked at yours...wow...4 months from I-129F to interview....ours was 362 days 😩. 

We filed!!!  

Just curious, when did other Oct. 2018 N-400 filers start the immigration process?  We started 11/5/2013.  It's been almost 5 full years since we submitted an I-129F.  Seems like an eternity ago.

Went back and looked and I actually filed 9/25/17 and got my NOA 10/19/17.....my stuff always seems to take longer than other people...smfh.  Didn't get my 18 month until 8/11/18

Am so sorry for your loss. I think you can still remove conditions but with a waiver?

What's the difference between a courtesy copy and the official letter?

Here's our situation -

Fiance came on a K1 visa, Dec '14

Got married Feb '15, filed the AOS paperwork right away.

We received a RFE almost immediately, response received by April 16th on myUSCIS status website.

EAD/AP was received shortly thereafter.

Received another RFE in Sept asking for stuff they had already (I-864, vaccination records)....submitted RFE response shortly thereafter.

Mailed via USPS and tracker # said package was received in early to mid Oct..

Hadn't heard anything, so I checked the myUSCIS case status website the other day and it's saying our RFE response was received April 16th. No mention of the latest RFE or response.

I'm feeling a little bit nervous now.

Advice??? Thoughts??? Should I do something??? If so what??

Haven't posted in a long time....but wanted to post some hope for the people going thru this process!!!

This year I started a small business, as my current job paid only a small "stipend" of 8,000 or so.

My business did decently (I took in a profit of maybe $40,000). I have MANY things that I can legally write off though.

My family size is going to be 4 (my son, my foreign spouse and her son)

My concerns are this -

1. If I write off too much and I dip below the 125% line, will that matter since my "Gross" income will still be above the 125% amount???

2. If I don't write off legit expenses I'm going to pay tax on more money than I probably should, which isn't something I'd be particularly happy about....as all of you know this whole process hasn't been cheap lol.

Also I'm trying to rush to get my taxes done, as my wedding is Sat. Feb 28th and her I-94 expires March 7th, and since I've never dealt with owning my own business before, I have NO idea how all the tax stuff works.

So my second question is....does my AOS paperwork have to be postmarked by the 7th, arrive by the 7th....or can it be "late"????

Ok so we got approved on Monday. I don't want to buy my gal a plane ticket until she has her passport and visa in her hand.

How long does it take to get to DHL??? And how do you get yur waybill or tracking number???

Wow so excited for you...did they ask for pics and what do you mean other that the obvious if you are prepared? Did you attend the interview? I know it says that you can't.

My gal gave them the pix she brought (about 40 or 50 from my 2 trips to Nairobi), they asked questions like who is this person?? No I didn't attend the interview. I'm in the US.

In regards to being prepared...just making sure you have everything they could possibly ask for. It's alot of paperwork and your going to be nervous, so just make sure you know where to find everything. My girl almost couldnt find the 134 becuz it was in a sealed FedEX. We had probably had 200 pages of paperwork (80 pages of chat logs....we just took the last 2 months).
