I had my green card interview today! It was a breeze!!!! I feel so relieved, it is as if a huge, heavy rock was taken off my shoulders!!! I received a text/email a couple of hours later saying my card is now in production! I am finally a legal permanent resident of the United States of America! I want to give a kiss to everybody!

I have been checking the Dallas field office processing time of their I-485's. I thought the Dallas office was one of the fastest in the United States... well now they seem to not even bother updating the estimated processing time since October 31, 2013.
    Any thoughts?

Yup. It's the approval notification/case update. I got my SMS/Email/USCIS Website approval on 11/27/2013, valid from 11/27/2013 and it expires 11/26/2014.

Is this a problem affecting only people who filed an I-130 for a spouse who lives abroad, or does it also include I-130's filed with form I-485 (adjustment of status while living in the US?)
I think as long as they grant an EAD/AP (work authorization/advance parole) one can just be ok for at least one year while the I-130 is processed... I guess that's the reason why they issue the EAD/AP card in the first place... Please let me know if I am missing something. They usually approve EAD/AP cards within 90 days (normally people report they received their EAD card within 75 days from the date of filing their I-765/I-131)

Glad to have found this thread, as my US spouse and I filed everything this month. I've become neurotic checking the status and obsessing over timeframes, something I don't expect to change until my EAD is approved and I am working again...

Well, I'll end this discussion like this. We are going to suck it up, and meanwhile we will dream of the day when we will be a free couple and finally enjoy our life. We waited this long, we can wait another couple of months.

All I can say is that we are all in the same situation. My husband got fired 1 week before marriage. He is now getting unemployment and Thank God that he also saved some money for this kind of emergency. Im the beneficiary and Unemployed and still waiting for EAD to start looking for work. we cut down on all luxuries and the small income that we have, we are using wisely to pay for rent, bills and necessities. Hang in there. its just a couple months (3-4 months) until you get your EAD or maybe before that. I hope you guys can live on just one income for the next 4 months.
As for your employer, you can ask him to hold the position for you. He might be THAT nice and hold it.
your comment is funny especially the north africans one Im north african ( very close to Italy ) but I took a plane instead of a boat lol.
Its seems like you are frustrated with the whole process. Then again, I assure you that everyone here is frustrated too but lets look at the bright side. Within 3 months from now you will have your green card in hand and everything will be much easier.
The government is treating all of us the same really. Its an immigration process and it takes time. Your EAD will arrive anytime soon so fingers crossed for you.

There is something your lawyer should have sent with the package (Im sorry, I can't remember what my wife called it, she is a lawyer and did all of the paperwork), but it was basically asking for her EAD and authorization to travel be expedited. Again, this is something your lawyer should have told you about and sent in with the package. Not sure if you can send it in after the fact.
We are also a gay couple, just for reference. We filed out paperwork at the end of July 2013 and just got her green card a little over a week ago. So it took about 3 months from beginning to end (sent in the package, biometrics, then my wife had to get her medical exam as we didn't know she needed too and we got an RFE, then she got her EAD card shortly after (as well as authorization to travel), a month later we had our interview and got the green card approved same day). She had already had a SS#, so once we got the EAD card we went to the DMV 3 days later and got her ID in the mail within 5 business days.
