Called NVC just for fun. Funniest conversation I've had in a while.
Me: Any news on an interview date yet?
NVC Rep: Nope, not yet. Sorry we're still waiting to schedule you.
Me: Okay, thanks. Oh, any chance you can tell me if they have completed scheduling the April interviews for Cairo yet?
NVC Rep: Sorry, I don't have that information. I can tell you however, we like to give people enough time to prepare for their interview so we try to give people at least 4 weeks notice. With that being said, don't expect an April interview because April is only a couple of weeks away and that wouldn't allow you enough time to prepare.
Me: Yes, you are correct, April 1st is only a couple of weeks away, but April 9th just so happens to be 4 weeks away, which would mean there is still plenty of time to schedule an April interview.
NVC Rep: Uhhhhhh... Well... We want to be sure to give people as much time as possible, 4 weeks is just the minimum, but we prefer to give more as courtesy to the beneficiary to prepare.
Me: Hahahahahahahaha! Uh... Okay... I don't know how forcing a husband and wife to be apart longer is courteous.
NVC Rep: (A moment of silence)
Me: Hello? Are you still there?
NVC Rep: Umm... Mam, it's to allow adequate time to complete the medical and such.
Me: Hahahaha!!! If my husband found out this moment his interview was tomorrow, he'd go to the doctors home, knock on his door to wake him up, and wave a little money in front of his face. He'd have his medical results in his hand and be on his way to Cairo within the hour. LMAO!
NVC Rep: Mam, is there anything else I can help you with?
Me: Hahahahaha! No. Thanks for the laugh though, I really needed it.
    NCV Rep: (Click)
Wow! I wonder where they get their answers? Lol!

Why wait til June? I made a mistake of waiting for a few months before applying. My husband wanted to wait for my mother to accept him before I applied, but nope! Its's our life and such family issues will be of no help. Apply ASAP! Trust me, it is a supe rlong process and down the road you will regret waiting to apply. I am not sure how the speed is at the service centers as of now, they were so slow before. Texas being the slowest and California being the fastest. I do not think it matters where you are residing, I mean if you initially send your application to the Chicago Office, it will be trannsfered according to their conveinenece, not theo ne closer to you. I reside in CA, but mine was transfereed to the Nebraska Service Center.
Yup, they will always send the same response. My husband called the customer service line, and they tell him that an email will help...pahleez
YES! I am so glad I found this forum when I started my journey. I am not as active as I used to be before, when I has started the process. Even though I am not online as often, I still come and quietly read posts and pray for you guys in my head. It is a horrible process! I do not think anyone else will understand unless they have gone through this. People tell me...just move on...get on with your life...dont be stuck on the fact that your husband isn't here...it's like...DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE? Glad to have a place I can come to mingle with others who know how it feels.
Also, Solenta, So Sorry that your casse is in AP. I do not write much into the forum, but I know you have applied close to the time and I have read your posts. I know that you feel very sad and mad at this point and there is nothing that will help that, no matter what anyone says or does. But still, please fight for your case, it is not fair that they have us wait for so long but you know that your case is not a fraud and you have nothing to fear, so even if they make assumptions, fight your way out of it. Put your emotions aside and think about every little thing that you can send in as evidence. I know I did! I sent in some of the stupidest things, icluding a copy of a love letter my husband had sent me. haha. Good luck, and hope you feel better!

Just a thought...we all chose this for ourselves. Maybe we were clueless about how hard it would be because we are in love and see the world through rose colored glasses.I would still make the same choices and marry the same foreigner but I would hope that I would be mentally and physically stronger and more emotionally prepared for the stress that the Immigration system brings. Some people sail thru with no problems from the start and some seem to just be cursed by Murphys Law.
There are so many twists and turns in the process but for most of us the end result will be family re-unification and that is what we are all here fighting for!
If anyone takes anything out of the VJ website I hope that it is to start the process with your eyes wide open and take advantage of every morsel of advice in the guides . Read read and read some more. Continue supporting each other with kindness and information.
I for one need this thread and this website because I would have lost it by now if it had not been for every single one of you .
    THANK YOU !!!

It is such BS that you have to wait 1.5 years to be rejected in the span of 5 minutes. If the CO feels like the relationship is bogus how about rejecting the petition within 3 months instead of making someone go through the anguish of being denied 1 foot away from the finish line. I never want to hear that ####### that the consular officers are "intelligent" and that they can "spot" fraud. they are a bunch of incompetent, low-life idiots

Hey Brentos, I know what you mean. It is really upsetting!! IT is so hard in this long process. I mean I know there are fraudulent cases but uggggh, I have seen people come here and leave after getting GC but it isn't fair to have me wait. Not only is that frustrating but also the time!! I have to admit that because of this enormously long process, I have argued and fought more with my husband because we are so far, it is such a strain to live so far and don't even know when your case will be done! To make is worse, most male applicants from my home country get AP....uggggh
I'm sorry that you are unable to see your wife, especially with a child. That is hard. There are many of us in the same boat, all we can do is support each other because it doesn't seem like it will get any better. It may be hard to deal with the separation but try not to let it out on each other, I have done that out of anger that I cannot control this situation.
    Best Wishes!

Yeah, thanks. I think I'll dig up the old letter and update it a bit. I can't believe there is still a backlog at NVC, I thought it would have been fixed by now. Coming this April, will be 2 years for me that I have applied. It sucks even more though that my case is at the Embassy, I can get no update at all! Just...wait...I hope to look back at this ridiculous process some day and laugh..a little..
Yeah sorry to hear that, they do say you can use any color ink but just use blue so they cannot say its a copy, I remember when I sent my application, I sent in many "Notes" about anything that might be different or questionable, just to be cautious. From what I have learned, they will checklist you for the stupidest things! I've seen ppl get checklists that make no sense and even ppl who did everything correctly! Be one step ahead of them! Even though...in the end, you will have to wait for them...

We made it home last night!!!
Minneapolis POE was super easy. The first CBP was a bit grumpy and when my husband showed the flimsy white 'do not open' package (it traveled through 4 countries with no tears!) the agent said 'oh yay, another one'. He said my husband needs to go to the Passport Control room and wait for an officer there. I asked if I could go back with him and he said 'yea if you want, just warning you, you're going to be there for a while'. I made a joke that I'll just go home and get the car then. Went down like a led balloon!
We go to the room where I made another crack that we were sent to the principal's office. The second CBP heard me and said 'this is NOT the principal's office, this is the GOOD room!' He asked one question, when did we file. We said Sept 2013 and he said 'that's it?!' I gave him a Madea look and he said 'some people wait years for this!' I told him I was fully aware. Since I kept chiming in throughout the conversation, the CBP dude asked if my photo should be on the green card (while laughing). He said he tries to have a sense of humor and I told him it was appreciated as we've read horror stories. Naturally, he said don't believe everything we read.
Visa stamped, signed, and my husband finger printed. We asked about the social security card and he said they have no control over that, since it was completed on the DS-260 which is a DoS document (makes sense).

When I went to have the interview, he said the same thing. So, I think our case file has been the butt of many jokes throughout this process for the case workers. Like, "here's a case for you.
