Proud LGBT couple, finally happy to be able to have the chance to live together in the US!
Laura and I met on an Art Site called DeviantART back in 2008! We hit it off as friends and soon became besties! I went and visited her for the first time in March of 2009 where we both started to realize that maybe there was a little more there than just friendship.
Not too long after, I confessed my feeling to her. It took some self discovery for us both but the feeling was mutual and we started dating in 2010 :)
It's never easy being in long distance relationship, let alone a same-sex one, but Laura and I have over come a lot of stress and have supported and loved each other, not allowing others to knock us down :)
In the end of 2011, Laura asked me to marry her and of course I said yes! Then I surprised her with a ring too and asked her to marry me this time!!
After being engaged for a year, we started getting down to business and figuring out what we were going to do about getting married and living together.
This summer, Laura and I decided to elope and got married up here in Canada on July 5,2013! Again we eloped in a round about way, so it wasn't a big wedding, but we knew we wanted a ceremony back in Florida one day once we saved up enough money, but that was a mystery as to when, as at the time, we had no idea when I could apply to move to the US, so plans were to live in Canada, till a beautiful thing happened:
DOMA WAS STRUCK DOWN!!
Laura and I couldn't believe it!! This opened so many doors for us and after a few months of long talks, sorting out the pros and cons of each living arrangement (Canada VS US) we decided to go state side and start our new lives as wife and wife back in her home town.
After 1 Year and 10 months of waiting on September 25,2015 my IR-1 Visa was approved! Now we can finally start a life together!
