  1. Fellow Oct filer! :star: I'm glad you finally got a CC and are on the interview thread!

Yeah buddy! Glad to be with you again! :)

Got checklisted which held me up. After getting back from Bogota I called and escalated to a Supervisor. The checklist was for her Police Record, which is only available online. I knew I sent a clear printed record which was very recent. So the Supervisor I spoke with spoke Spanish and knew what the proper Colombian Police Record looked like. She said "looks good to me" and admitted someone made an error. Then went into the system and marked the case complete. I am still waiting on some sort of official notification (I hear it takes a week). I called again this morning and the (depressingly sad sounding) operator confirmed approval, so I guess we are good. I am hoping for a mid November interview. It seems as if Bogota is consistently 6 weeks, 8 weeks worst case.

Glad to be back in the same boat together!!!...except for the big fonted one, ayyyy she drives me nuts! hahahahaha :)

  2. Thanks to all for your kind words and congratulations. I hope all of yours come quickly.

I highly recommend escalating to a supervisor if you feel you are in the right. I got on the phone today and the operator read from the screen, I asked to speak to the same Supervisor I spoke to earlier in the week. She had my file on her desk, reviewed it, and pushed it through and marked it complete in the system when i was on the phone. Be patient, be professional, be kind but also be firm. It worked for me.

  3. Thanks for congratulating me for my CC! I can now relax! :star:

It took me 4 months and 17 days to get a CC! :wow: But... I didn't even get a single checklist! :bonk:

If I had gotten a checklist, it'd have taken me over 6 months to get a CC! It'd have been a crime! :dead:

Good luck everyone! I'm off to the interview thread (but still here waiting for my friends to get a CC)! :star:

Congrats! And WITHOUT a lawyer! :)

  4. Sure they do... In a séance the other day dad confirmed that NVC is recruiting in his "neighborhood" to cover for Halloween night. He said he'd rather spend that night turning the other way.

Look... if they did work weekends, then Mondays would have the most reported news of the week on VJ, not the least. It's cruel really how they play on people's emotions with all this misinformation.

    Whatever dude...

  5. Sorry to hear that your certificate was rejected. :( I hope that with a supervisor review the existing document will be accepted. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the update about their work volume.

Thanks for the support. I honestly believe it was operator error. Everything was right. Lawyer reviewed it all, if anything wasn't perfect document wise? She asked me to send her another or the original. Police record (spanish), translation (english) and certificate from a competent translator was included. Don't know what the issue was. I guess we will find out?

  6. So called the NVC this morning about my checklist (Police Record). Both ladies were quite nice. The second lady I spoke with was a supervisor. She is pulling my case and will review it. She spoke Spanish. She said they did not "lose" the first document. That the document submitted was unacceptable for some reason or another. Trying to get the recent “resend” of the document out of the mail room will be impossible due to the volume of mail being delivered. She asked about the original document we sent. We were both quoting the same text from the document, so it must be correct one. Not sure what the problem was with the original document. I know it was a clean well printed document. She said we did not need a translation because it is being processed in the country that the document sourced from. She said to give her a few days and call back at the end of the week. I will call back on Thursday.

The first operator said that they are getting "truckloads of mail everyday." She also said that they are "working nights to 12, holidays and weekends."

    Just an update...

  7. Received checklist at 121 am for her Police Record. It was sent in, along with a translation and certified letter from the translator. Lawyer responded within 5 hours with scanned copies of all documents.

I am really fired up about this. My wife's police record was sent with the translation and certification of translation letter. My lawyer sent me the cover page that she mailed the NVC which provided all of the documents in order. She emailed them the docs again today at 6 am, as well as over nighted the documents today. NVC is saying another 60 days!!!

I think it is BS and just a ploy to buy more time!

  8. Forgot to follow up. Got there with all of my paperwork, everything officially translated, everything officially notarized and everything officially apostilled. Not a problem. Took a few days but we got it done. Had to pay a few extra pesos to get the "dates correct" where we needed them, but that wasn't an issue.

Yes, when I got married in the Catholic Church I have my official divorce certificate and other docs. That marriage was not in the Catholic church so the annulment wasn't an issue. The Priest told me no in the morning. I went back and talked to him alone in the afternoon. Using my heavy Italian accent, and many Italian words, mixed in with Spanish? As well as a gift for 12 families in the community? I also told him I had called a very good friend of mine who was friends with the Bishops in NYC and DC, they said they wanted to discuss this matter with him. Between all of that? He was happy to marry us. No in the morning, but yes in the afternoon. Now he is the Bishop in that area and he is always happy to see me when I travel to this remote location. Quite a story! :)

  9. I was told that a few times back in April, then told by a supervisor that it is ALWAYS business days. They don't count the weekends or holidays. I would bet the phone operators have no clue why business days and calendars days even make a difference. ( also told that by the USCIS because I called about the 60 day notices I received... also told it was business days... and told business days by Senator Toomey's office)

I believe that is relevant specifically to the 30 day processing time. With this new letter they are saying it is calendar days. Why the discrepancy? I don't know. I am just reporting what I have been told, now three times. By two operators and a supervisor I just got a return call from. I have been given a date verbally on the phone, which was 60 calendar days from the date on the letter. Believe what you like, I will do the same. Actually? I think it will come before that.

  10. Wow that is just great ..guys Nvc now taking 60 business days f***.i so possed off thats it i m bringing my wife n daughter to me.i havent seen my new born child syill now..

NVC TAKING 60 BUSINESS DAYS..i m damned..i hate this.they dont even give a damn about our family...

People are not reading previous posts. 60 calendar days from the date on your letter. I have been told this twice by NVC on Friday and Monday.

No my wife callled them today the guy said its 60 biz day from last friday..

Have her call back and ask specifically if is "calendar days" or "business days". I have been told twice it was 60 calendar days. Stop freaking out.

  11. Got the letter...

SECOND CALL about the letter. First she told me 60 business days. Then I asked her to check because I was told 60 calendar days by another operator on Friday.

She came back and said: 60 CALENDAR DAYS FROM THE DATE ON YOUR LETTER. She said that this would be for the review and an answer would come a few days after that. She also said if you get a checklist? It adds another 60 calendar days onto that date.

This is my second confirmation on this. Please stop posting 60 BUSINESS days (which sends the board [and me! hahahaha] into a frenzy).

  12. The members on the facebook group that I joined decided to take action about the 60days email from NVC. Here is a link if you want to join in the action.

If you want more activity, or people to join, you might want to expand a little instead of people joining a random FB page without any info. Just an idea...
