  1. Got an RFE

Well it took over two weeks to get my RFE (actually my lawyer got it, I still do not have a copy). USCIS said that they could not read my wedding certificate. This was total BS because I have similar copies here for my files which are perfect. My lawyer said her copies were perfect also. She said that they probably either lost it, or damaged it somehow. Hopefully I was see an approval in 3 to 4 weeks. :(

  2. @ 100JH - can you please share what type of evidence USCIS is aksing for?

I called the Tier II. They dont have the info. I have to wait for the letter. I am in Bogota now and do not return until next Thursday. I hope it is there by the end of the week. I will share once I know.

Just received an Email.... I130 APPROVED!!!

    Congrats

Congrats? Why? Yea they touched it, but I see it as a delay.

  3. I have received my three texts/emails stating i have been transferred to California, as well as my case transfer confirmation letter. Yesterday I got a notification that my "address was changed" which i never requested or modified on the website.

"On March 20, 2014, your address was changed relating to the I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN that you filed. "

I am hoping that this means that my data was being entered in the system, but I really don't have a clue. Has anyone else seen this or know what it means?

Tier II says "ignore this email, it was a clerical error, a glitch in the system" hmmmmmmm. Considering much of the CIS notifications are automated, I find that hard to believe. Something happened, what I don't know. My address was correct, the same as the original submission. I think it is officially being "touched". I am hoping someone is actually working on the case. That is my guess but I don't have any proof. But something happened....hmmmmmmmmm.

  5. Colombo123...good idea on getting multiple original documents, I did the same, just in case. I can't answer the other question, my thoughts are "more is better". I am wondering if it is a bit early to get the police/medical records, I have heard there is some sort of time limit that they are valid (3 months, 6 months, I don't know). I would hate for you to get the records and have them expire. You might want to look into that.

  6. on the list of documentation did you send originals? Im wondering if I send copies like I did for the I130 petition if they will request the originals at the interview? I wont be going back to Africa until August but I am thinking that maybe way to late. I am sure with help from fellow Vj'ers I shouldn't have a problem filling out the paperwork its just the originals that I am worried about. Im waiting to see what others are planning to do.

For some things my lawyer requested originals (i.e. marriage certificate) for other things a notarized/authentic copy was valid (birth certificate). I don't remember every document, nor am I an authority on this. I am sure if you do the research you will find what the correct answer is. The reason i hired the lawyer is that I have never done this before, I don't "know the ropes" or requirements. Just tell me what I need to get, I go fetch.

  7. Hello guys, because of we are near to approvals and NVC processing i decided to start practicing and getting ready for further procedures which is much more difficult than it was i-130 packet. So i have some questions and i want to get confirmations if i am doing ok and not missing papers. If someone knows well about NVC procedures and can answer my quick questions please notice me, i am appreciating all respond and VJ is just awesome. Maybe this forum isn't as appropriate as another could be for my request but i am here feeling familiar and i am sure much filers from this forum are already with prepared papers for NVC procedures. Thanks

I am ready to prepare for the NVC stage too. I have been looking at the steps and it just seems to be a bit tougher then the petition for the I130. Maybe its just me and Im having some brain pauses. I agree 100% we all should be practicing and getting ready for the stage. I too would love to hear if anyone else has started preparing.

I hired an immigration lawyer who did all of the paperwork and had me gather most of this documentation Day 1 (one reason I am October and not September), which I am happy has been completed. I have an email out to see if anything is missing. We have not gotten her medical or court records yet because it is too early in the process. I am going to see my wife next week so I have an email out to the lawyer to see if there are any additional items I need to get while I am in Colombia. Getting excited....and PS my file of documentation sent was about two inches thick! Of course I went loco with supporting documentation! Hahahahaha

  8. Check out this post, it answers your question smile.pnghttp://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/441796-faq-case-transfers-to-another-service-center/

basically, the first email you get is the electronic notification, the second is the actual mailing of the physical files to the other office, and the third is when the new Service Center has received the physical files smile.png

That is what I was thinking this morning. Thanks for the link which clarifies that! The number of emails are auto-generated by tracking mechanisms built into the system (transfer initiated, case mailed, case received) because I got another email this morning, which means my case is now in California! :)

The I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

  9. Hey Guys.. I called the USCIS office few minutes ago, I couldn't talk to an actual person, but after I entered my receipt number, I was told by the machine that my case has been transferred to Lee Summit, MO office, I'm kind of confused now...how come I don't see Lee Summit listed on the spreadsheet..is it an actual office or what place is this? Or my case hasn't reached its destination office??? OMG..anyone please respond and help me calm down sad.png

It was not transferred there, most likely not. Call and speak to a Tier II rep. First you get Tier I, they read from a screen. Ask for an escalation to Tier II. Ask nicely and the Tier II rep can look it up in the system where you were transferred to. It will probably take about a week for the case to actually make it to your destination service center. 1.800.375.5283

    Stay calm and carry on.

  10. To the Google Data Sheet moderators...first of all thanks for keeping the sheets updated. Second, look at the August sheet. They have a great format and provide more data than the other sheets (i.e. average time of approvals, etc.). Maybe we can use that format for the "October people" as well as to provide great insight for people that filed behind us (ie. Nov2013, Dec2013, etc.). Just an idea. PPS - update my transfer destination to CSC please. Thanks again! :)

  11. Well, I just called USCIS Tier II, it kind of started out a little down and very monotone/matter of fact. The guy was not in a good mood, evidently many people call up and verbally abuse the reps. They must catch hell all day. Having experience with DHS, the Federal Government etc...I can commensurate and am sympathetic for them. He said somebody called him worthless and overpaid, which I know both of those statements are not true. But I have a knack for making people laugh and by understanding their position and the difficulties they encounter. This is what he said basically:

    1. In 7 to 10 business days I should be getting an official NOA informing me my case was transferred, and where it was transferred to.

    2. That their goal is to process the case in two months once it is received. That this is a fairly accurate timeline.

    3. THAT I WAS SENT TO CALIFORNIA! dancin5hr.gif (Look at my post from yesterday. California is a beast in getting the I130's knocked out!)

My two cents...I do want to remind everyone that they are the front line, in a sense, in regards to who can enter the country legally. That their primary job is protecting our National Security (he said this on the call). I am sure that these people are not making six figure salaries, they don't have the greatest work environment, they don't have killer benefits, they don't have stock options and they get yelled at all day long by people on the phone.

So if you call up? Be pleasant and courteous. Crack a joke or two and sympathize with their situation. I am sure they need it, he told me he was having a terrible morning and that he was happy that we spoke. He said my call made his morning. At the end i could hear his smile, he was laughing and his attitude completely changed by the end of the call. He actually thanked me for calling. I told him, "if you have a bad day, call me back for support" He said "I might just do that, I got your number right here" (*wink*). You never where a little kindness might get you! You get more bees with honey than with vinegar! smile.png

    GO CALIFORNIA! smile.png
