Ticket purchased and passport picked up. Made sure she opened it and scan the Visa page to me just to be sure.

My Fiancee was denied the K1 Visa today. Reason given was that she wore the Engagement ring on the wrong finger. Which I found ludicrous.
Any idea how to proceed from here? I know I can appeal this decision. But I would appreciate inputs from VJers.

We were in AP since December 9, 2013.
And yes, they won't tell you what they are doing. But I can help Escosbaby piece it together.
They would give one field Agent all the AP files for a specific region in Nigeria. They will not return those files until every last beneficiary on that list has been visited. That's why it is taking so damn long.
In my case, only one person visited folks staying in Oyo State and Oshun State. That much I know cos the guy visited us in RingRoad, Ibadan. Stayed 15 minutes at our place and moved on to the next Ibadan person. One of the neighbors we listed on our form saw them at her church right after he left us.
Then when my Fiancee was called to bring her passport, she met with other people who were also on AP. One of them since 2001. And majority of them were from cities around Ibadan in Oyo State and Oshun State. Their exchanges verified the same guy visited with them and all of them got called after their files were returned to the embassy.
Escosbaby, just hang in there. It will be your turn soon to sing. It got to a point that the Embassy staff warned me to stop pestering them with emails and calls. But I wasn't having any of that. I kept them on their toes.

Hi sorry to hear what you are going through, but I would suggest that you do not send any money as you could be asked for more & more, what you need to do is contact the Consulate General of Nigeria in New York & speak to them about your husbands situation.

They were just giving you wahala. There is no such thing as a spinster affidavit in Nigeria. It isn't required or needed. They will have Americans run around chasing their tail to get all manner of documents and such that they know is not required. If you went to embassy they would laugh at you.
Honestly they wanted to see your tax papers to see how much money you make. It is a game they play to see your kidnapping worth. Just like the Nigerian embassy requesting some wanting to visi Nigeria to submit their bank statements. Really for what? It is not required or necessary.
Know your rights and don't play their game. I had to say something to this misinformation. Sorry they played you like that.
If anyone finds an issue at any registry on proving singleness go to another registry. It is not required. Go to the embassy and complain. Heck all you have to do is say "I will go to American Embassy" and you would be surprised how they back up their games.
Your passport and birth certificate is all that is required and needed.

And of course there should be denials! Although this is a long slow process, we know that thorough checks are done to prevent people from entering the US fraudulently. It's the dang fraudsters that cause a lot of the problems with immigration!!!

How did you come to the conclusion that the applicant lied? The CO took his/her little knowledge of African culture too far. This idea that every African lies is outplayed.

They think they know our traditions better than we do. Which is a load of #######.

I think she'll be okay as soon as she submits the information that they need.

Is it true that some Agents hoard interview dates?

Pressed for time, you could go for your interview early on Monday and the IO can hold on to making a decision until you provide the "needed" paper evidence.
