Has anyone made a mistake with the DS-160? My fiancee is in a panic because he thinks (only after submitting) that he waz supposed to give them his mother's married name and not her maiden name. He gave them her maiden name. Do you think this will cause a problem if he tells them at the interview?

Hooray my visa just got delivered. Finally!!
WOOHOO!!!!!!! Congrats!!!! I can't wait til everyone can say that!!!!

It's amazing how much this all costs! I haven't bought any new clothes or bags or shoes etc in the past few months as i have put away most of my income for visa, wedding and travel costs lol.
I am sure that in Jan flights will be cheaper. Do you have any particular airline in mind? Some of the cheaper airlines are usually united airlines. I am going with Etihad airways. It was cheaper than Qantas and i've booked for boxing day.
With my trips to see my fiancee and other flights I've been using Delta. They told me I can use my skymiles for his flight! It's gonna cost $53. Of course, I've paid between $1100 and $1300 for flights to and from Rio as well as a couple of flights here in the USA. After the visa, medical, and all that fun stuff we are trying to save up because we know we also have another hefty fee with the AOS and wedding! :-)I'm sure some more flights to Rio will be on the calendar once we get the AOS so he can see family so it will be time to start saving miles again! :-)
We did out I-160 last night! Stayed up til 4 AM working on it and I'm working 3 hours later! YIKES!! Gonna be a long day! It feels good to have it done. Since we don't get a packet 3, my fiancee should be getting his interview date any day now!! He's going to get his police certificates today and he's calling one of the doctors listed to ask questions since he can only find proof of one vaccination and it was just for the flu. Unless the paperwork comes, he won't actually book the medical though. :-) Still exciting!

That's the page I am that is confusing me! I'm going to do both just to be safe!

I had someone who specializes in this help with the initial paperwork. They told me that we would need the I-864 (that was a typo). My son just got his first job but was trying to be helpful. I'm not going to use his income. My brother makes 3 times what I do and is the better choice. When I asked, I was sent the I-864 for my brother to fill out but then I saw the I-864A in the documents needed for interview. I am pretty sure he needs the 864 for both of us!
-
Thanks so much!! My brother make 3 times what I make and is well above the required amount to sponsor my fiancee. I am just below. I think I will just leave my sons income out of it and send him my I-864 and my brothers. My son has received two paychecks and is just trying to be helpful!
-
I know this topic is OLD but I am now filling out the i-894 and my brother who does NOT live with me is a co-sponsor. Does he fill out the I-894 too? Now I have a 19 year old son with a job and he's offered to let me include his income. That would require the I-894 A. Is this correct. Also, when the I-894 asks for household size, Am I supposed to count the immigrant who is my fiancee?
-
OK guys! You might redirect me here but maybe someone knows. I was told to have my brother fill out an 894 as he is co-sponsoring. My income is just below what is required. Now my oldest son has a job and said I can include his income but he's just 19 and has never filed a tax refund yet. I don't know if this is going to be sufficient so should I just continue to use my brother or both. I know I fill out the 894A for my son if I do it but not so sure about my brother. I was given the 894 as the form for my brother but I am the primary sponsor so I'm slightly confused. Any suggestions?

That makes sense because the girl I have been talking to a girl who is about a week and a half ahead of us who is from Rio and went to the same service center. She said that she got a package in the mail that confirmed her interview date but there was nothing to send back. There some information we have to fill out online. Since I got the letter and there was information to do online in that my fiancé and I are going to do that today when we talk.

Just got approved NOA2 on 10/25.
Unfortunately the office is from CSC, which I've been seeing has a minimum of 4 weeks to get to NVC. This sucks since the other centers are averaging 2 wks
Anyone from California Service Center that got approved NOA2 in October got their paperwork to NVC yet?
We went through CVC and it was approved on September 11. Papers were not sent to the NVC until October 10. I hope yours is faster. At least you've got through the longest wait. Once at the NVC, it was there for less than 3 days before being sent to the embassy so they are getting things done quickly! I am waiting on packet 3 and my fiancee's interview date! Unfortunately for us, Rio was booking interview mid December 2 weeks ago so I am expecting a January interview. I guess our first Christmas together will be 2014. I'm stll hoping, though! :-)
-
YAY!!! I got the letter from the NVC today. I've known it was sent since Tuesday but still happy to have it! It instructs me to tell my fiancee to go to the ceac website and complete form DS-160!! It gives us something to do when we talk today to make us feel like we are moving forward. Now I hope he gets packet 3 soon!!! :-)
-
Thanks for asking this!! I wondered the exact same thing!!! Ours should arrive this week, too!!! I can't wait to find out the interview date!!
-
Congratulations to the new approvals!!! I love reading about them. I'm so happy for thos eof you who are booking your flights and getting teh approvals. It gives me hope. It makes me look forward to our day!!
My fiance and I are holding out on contacting anyone right now for the interview date but it's hard. We called NVC the day it said ready but they said that we have to contact the embassy. I'm being told that packet 3 is taking forever to arrive for everyone. Another girl who's about a week ahead of us got her interview date a little over a week ago over the phone and she still has not received packet 3. Her interview isn't until December. I expect my fiance's will be pushed back to January because of Christmas and the New Year but I am still hoping he gets lucky. Maybe he'll be with me before his birthday on February 13. I've been on here looking at timelines and the ones in Brazil seem to be no less than two weeks, usually longer but most people do not put when they get packet 3 in their timeline. I'm so afraid to "annoy" the embassy by constantly asking about the date so I test my patience and I am waiting. My fiance is getting very anxious. He can't find his vaccination records. He has medical records but nothing on vaccinations. We were researching with the link that is on the CEAC site where it says READY and we can't find any tips on how to obtain them or what happens if you don't have them. I posted a thread asking about it yesterday and have a few answers bt still confused. He's also leaving his job. He is a private teacher and wants to leave almost immediately after the approval. He wants to give his students as much notice as possible. Does anyone know how long it takes before we can get him approval to work here? We plan to apply for AOS as quickly as possible. I hear it's taking 3-6 months. I kinda feel bad about that because he loves to be busy and I will have to continue working while he does nothing. He is a guitarist/musician so maybe he'll take that time to write some great music.
-
Thank You!!! He's in a bit of a panic becuse he doesn't know where to look for his vaccination records or medical records. He gets bloodwork every 6 monts and probably can get the most recent ones but when he realized he needed all of this he started to panic. He had the chicken pox but has no idea how to prove that.

As we are closing in on the medical and interview, Right now just waiting for packet 3. I was reading the required documents from the department of state website to my fiance'. He has no idea how to get the medical records. He says that his current doctor writes things down and is unsure if the keep the info in the computer. I am hoping that my fiance' is just confused. He has lab results from a recent blood test but isn't sure where to get the rest. Can anyone give me ideas and suggestions on where to look? Will he likely have trouble getting approved without this information? He's 41 and says that he has no clue where to find old records. How far back do they need to go? He was vaccinated but just don't know what vaccinations he had. He had Chicken Pox as a kid but how do we probe it? If they have to vaccinate, how much would they charge? Also, any idea on the lab fees? I actually asked this in another thread because I was told he has to pay in US Dollars at the appointment. He needs to know how much cash to take. With lab fees and now possible vaccinations, it's really hard to know.

NVC says READY!!! Embassy has confirmed that they have the info but have not scheduled Interview yet. We are waiting on Packet 3 but I have gone to the Embassy site and have checked all of the required information. My fiancee is going to try to schedule his medical as soon as we know the interview date. All we have left to do is get the police information, the medical, and then his interview!! Soon we will be together again.
What types of exams do they do at the interview. I was told by someone that if he had recent bloodwork from his doctor and brought all records that they may not need to do labs? Does anyone know if there is truth to this? If it is that would be great because he gets bloodwork every 6 months. Of course, he will get it done if required. The Embassy site makes it look like they have to pay the fee in US cash. It's $130 for the medical and it said lab fees vary. Is the chest x-ray included or an extra fee? Has anyone had the labs? Can anyone give us an approximate cost of fees? If he has to pay cash, he is going to have to go to currency exchange and it would be nice to know approximately what he will need before going?

I knew about the background check but was led to believe that it is something that they do before sending us the paperwork. I didn't know we had to do something special. Guess I better look into it.

What is the police thing? We were told the medical has to be at least 5 days before interview. I will definitely get it figured out!
-
Haven't received it but I'm communicating with someone about a week ahead of us who is also from Rio. She has no packet but interview is scheduled for December 17. I think I was given the papers in the packet through the company who helped me fill out the paperwork. We have all docs, tax info, passport photos ready. With interviews being scheduled do far off, I'm sure the packet will arrive! Since we hired someone who specializes in it to help us fill out application we are have expecting info in packet to be slightly different but we have basic info ready and can prepare it fast!

We went from IN TRANSIT to READY in less than 24 hours!! This gives me hope! Maybe soon we will know interview date!!!!
-
Sorry, I came in really late to the forum about two weeks ago. I hadn't discovered this site earlier although I wish I had. The message is misleading because it says "IN TRANSIT Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center." That made me think that maybe the NVC is the one who set up the interview so I called to see if I could find out. Another person also from Rio from this forum who went through the California Service Center and was approved about a week ahead of me got her interview date last week. I'm kinda using her timeline as something to go by. Her interview isn't until December 17. I am just excited to know when we'll be together even if it is two months off so I can really look forward to it.
Anyway, I am very happy for those of you who are getting your visas approved. It gives me hope that we are getting close. I think once I have an interview date set, I will be able to relax and just prepare. There is nothing holding us back from buying the ticket the day teh visa is in hand.
-
BUMMER!!! No interview date yet! The other person said midweek this this one just said it's on the way to the embassy in Rio de Janeiro. Anxiety is torture!!! Must be patient but i'm not very good at it!

I'm so happy to see all of the great news!!! I know we are close. When I check the website is still says "AT NVC". Did anyone get an interview daye before it said "ready? I am waiting to call because i don't want to be disappointed but she told me Friday that they should know by midweek. Praying for this. Both my fiancee and I are ready and as soon as it's through were buying the ticket!
Editing to say I posted too soon! I checked 30 minutes ago and it was At NVC NOW " IN TRANSIT Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.""" CALLING NOW!!!!!!!!!!!
