  1. Guys do I need to fill ds260 online. I have a lawyer maybe he has filled it.

But I have no idea. If so how can I check whether I have to fill it ( im the beneficiary)

    Thank you

Congrats and good luck with the interviews :)

I highly doubt that the lawyer can fill out the entire DS260 without your assistance or the assistance of the petitioner. The DS 260 asks for very detailed information about the beneficiary. What I did was fill everything out and let the lawyer know I was done. The lawyer then went over the information once again (checking for discrepancies against the I-130 I guess) before submitting it. Either way, you will need to communicate with your lawyer :)

  2. Hi Joanna :)

I am the US Citizen, and hubby is the Malaysian. Ive been here 7 years! Yes, we're a small bunch :)

Yup yup, figured that :) But you are in Malaysia at the moment? So you're filing from abroad?

I've been here on VJ for ages, but it's so hard to come across Malaysians going through this process, there really isn't much country specific information for us to go by! Especially when it comes to stuff like the medical and the interview, which I hope I'm headed toward soon! Will keep you updated if you'd like :)

  3. I feel for so many of you separated from your spouses. I am not, so my antsiness is more about wanting to leave his country NOW, but for hose of you separated from your spouse, I am sorry for the extra hardship you endure. To go through that and finish with your sanity in tact is no small thing!

    Hi Savagechair

So you're in Malaysia? So nice to meet another "Malaysian" on here. We are few and far between.

  4. I would so love for this to be accurate, but they didn't complete 8 days worth of scanned packages in 6 days. They do not receive documents on the weekends, so you have to leave out weekends in your calculation :) I'm sorry I had to burst your bubble :(

    Sooooo :sleepy:

The NVC today, 19th of June, has reached cases scanned on the 20th of May

On the 13th of June, a nice woman told me that the NVC is working on the 12th of May scanned cases (on the hush hush side) :secret:

That means in 6 calendar days the NVC finished worth 8 days of scanned cases/packages

A rate of 1.3 days of scanned packages every calendar day

My case was scanned on the 2nd of June. :sleepy:

That means I have 12 more days of scanned packages

If they continue with the same rate

They will reach my case date in 9 days from today :luv:

Did any one get case complete lately to complete this "WILD HYPOTHESIS" :content:

Anyway ... Lets wait and see :clock:

  5. If you have a lawyer, you don't have to fill out the DS-261 form. It's taking up to 30 days for NVC to review the DS-261 form now (It only took 5-14 days until early May). Since the IV fee is tied with the DS-261, they (applicants with a lawyer) can pay the IV fee without waiting for up to 30 days. So if you have a lawyer, you could finish the NVC stage a month faster compared to applicants (without a lawyer) who have to fill out the DS-261 form and wait for up to 30 days to pay the IV fee.

Supervisor Ike said, "Well, you could hire a lawyer." Right! Like I was going to pay $2,000-5,000 to hire a lawyer just to pay the IV fee faster. LOL :bonk:

Then again, those of us with lawyers are still sitting here waiting for a case complete thanks to their ignorance or sheer stupidity! All those whom I shared a timeline with earlier (and didn't have lawyers) have gotten CC and even completed medicals and are in line for an interview any time now. I'm sitting here still waiting for a CC that will probably only come in 3 weeks or so because of a silly mistake our paralegal/lawyers made. :ranting: So pleaseeeeeee just do it yourself... Don't pay someone to make a mistake for you

  6. Hi everyone, I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand time....

Does it take 90 days from the date they receive the application? The reason I ask is because I got a RFE notice and my biometric appoinment is on May 6th.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kitloong

I'm sorry to hijack your thread but I was wondering where and when the biometrics appointment is. I'm in the midst of getting my IR1 visa done and we have all our documents at the NVC at the moment. I know about the interview which is the next stage, but where does the biometrics appointment fit in?

    Thanks..

  7. You owe your mother in law big time, lol...I am so glad it was fixed ,what a stupid woman! I had to watch my paralegal with 4 eyes too, in our case we checked everything before she sent the AOS! I fixed the DS-260 because everything was wrong and she basically approved it  . The IV my husband sent her everything PDF perfect ready to email and instead she printed everything so bad and sent it. She included twice my husband information (birth certificate , etc) don't forget is all about the beneficiary(I am the beneficiary). Anyway, she sent my papers too, so I didn't make a fuss about it. I am crossing my fingers now!

Oh yes i do! I do owe her big time and it's not for this reason alone :)

Even through all the mess with your paralegal, I see you are moving on along pretty fine! All the best for a case complete soon!

I wanna do the happy dance for you! :dancing: :joy: :dancing:

Wow it's interesting to hear about all these lawyers (and their staff) who can't seem to get paperwork right. That must be frustrating because I bet you guys paid up front too.

If I had to do it all over again (And I'm super glad I don't!!!) I would do it myself! I told my husband we're not using a lawyer for whatever comes after this! And yes, we paid the full amount up front, including government fees and additional administrative fees! I hate how they make mistakes we would never have made ourselves.

  8. Thanks BOS_LHR, I see more and more CC's and hope mine comes through soon too! The only thing I'm concerned of in any way is them accepting my wife's (sponsor) evidence to re-establish USA as her domicile as she lives here in Canada right now. I sent in a bank statement with our intended US address, notarized letter from her parents we'll be living there, and a car insurance quote using the US address. We are also waiting on getting a job offer letter to take to my interview if needed.

Hi ncglenn, would you mind creating a timeline? It would really help out a lot of people here :) We're kinda crazy about people's timeline and signatures and watch them like hawks! Thanks!

  9. My incompetent lawyer wrote the wrong zip code on the AOS. It was received on 5/22 so now I'm expecting a checklist over a f*#king zip code. I hate this woman with a burning passion.

I totally understand how you feel! Sometimes I wonder how these people passed their bar exams when they cannot copy 5 numbers from one sheet of paper to another! Our paralegal screwed up by rounding up the total income instead of putting it exactly as it was. We got checklisted for that. So they redid it and when my husband went to check, she'd rounded it up again on the new forms!

  10. Now I'm freakin highly annoyed. Nothing yet. Amanda said they're getting a high influx of mail right now.

Sometimes I wonder if doing things the illegal way would have just been better. I know people who came here illegally, got married and became residents within 2 months of their marriage. Clearly doing the right thing is the wrong way to go about it.

I sooo feel you! I have wondered that every single day since filing the i-130! To think that the ones who do it by the books are the ones suffering is so sad!!

  11. For all those looking for flights (now or for the future), I find the "google flights" has really good fares... the best I've found, at least for us from the Caribbean to the US west coast. At the top of your search results, it will even give you suggestions on how to get a cheaper flight (i.e. leave a day later or leave from another airport nearby). It also has a really awesome calendar that has a graph at the bottom showing which days have the lowest fares for the selected route, which is good for us because we won't have to leave on any specific day after we get the visa, just which ever day has the cheapest flight!

You can find it at https://www.google.com/flights/

Enjoy! I hope it helps someone find a cheap flight!

This is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing!

  12. Arghhh I hate my lawyer and her paralegal! :ranting: They screw up the I-864 by rounding up the figures causing us to get a checklist (on 5/21). And now the paralegal goes off on holiday and the lawyer doesn't have a slot on her calendar until June 2! That's a total of 10 days wasted doing absolutely nothing! :clock: I so regret using a lawyer. I could have done it myself with the help from you good people

Sorry I had to rant :(
