Welcome You'll find a lot of useful information here, I don't know how I would've made it without VJ! Been here a year now and obviously went through the whole mess, so if you ever need to talk or have questions, I'd be happy to help! (as I'm sure everyone here would be )

Holy cow, I am so over the moon right now and still in a bit of disbelief. It only took the USCIS 3 weeks after they originally got my petition to send me a NOA2!! I JUST got my NOA1 like two and a half weeks ago. What the heck?! I had to read the letter 10 times to make sure I was reading it right.
Now I'm in a super rush to go visit him and bring him what he'll need for the interview. So much excitement!!
I just wanted to share this here because not many people in my life realize how huge this is and I know you all will be able to appreciate how insane it is that we got it that quickly. I have no idea how this happened, but I am so thankful! Thank you, visajourney, for all your resources that helped us put together the petition so seamlessly. I can imagine I would've gotten a billion RFE's without this site.
Does anyone have any tips for what comes next? Interview and filling out forms and such?

Was your RFE for the EAD? I have seen a couple RFEs wanting a sworn statement of current name concerning the I-765. It is processed separately from the I-485, so the one copy of the marriage certificate probably was with your I-485 and not present for the adjudication of the I-765.
Instead of a sworn statement, if you want to be completely safe, then send a second copy of your marriage certificate along with the other supporting evidence for the I-765, as well as the one you provide with the I-485.

    Hi there!
Two things I read that I've experienced differently (just to throw in my two cents):
    - I got my SSN with my maiden name when I arrived in NJ, but they wouldn't let me change it to my married name until I came back with EAD. They said otherwise they'd have to give me a new card too many times.
    - The NJ DMV also wouldn't let me apply for a state ID or driver's license without the EAD. But that could just be my jerk office
If you ever need advice or anything, I'm home all day and bored I'm in NJ too, from NL and just changed my last name as well.

Sounds like they noticed the "discrepancy". Which would explain why they're asking for "supporting tax documentation". You need to resolve the difference in income between your 2013 return and AOS affidavit.

Most recent is still 2013. You only need to provide 2014 if you have already filed. You must send a complete copy, which is a copy of each and every form, attachment, schedule, W-2 and/or 1099. Basically exactly what you would need if you were to mail in your tax filing to the IRS instead of e-file. OR, you can use an IRS tax return transcript, which is probably the best thing to use to answer the RFE. Then you do not have to worry if you sent in a complete copy of the return or not > http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript
If you have not yet filed the 2014 taxes but have the W-2 for 2014 already, then include a copy of the W-2 too, along with a note that you have not yet filed for 2014 as of yet.

I've been away quite some time, sorry folks. Lot's happening! Arrived safely, got my SSN (pre-married), had a BEAUTIFUL wedding next to a waterfall , got my SSN name changed, and sent my AOS/EAD/AP package 3 days ago. Let stage 2 waiting begin *sigh*
    Hope everyone is well!

    Hey Hey!! Congrats!
I've been kind of quiet too...
I got all depressed because we got put into AP for something stupid but after 33 days the visa was issued and he received it 5 days later.
On 10/10 I drove to Canada to go get him and on 10/12 we drove back, the land crossing POE took about 45 minutes. On 10/14 he applied for his SSN and he got it on 10/17. Today he went to the DMV to exchange his Canadian license for a NY license and that went smoothly, he was in an out of the DMV in 30 minutes which is unheard of!
We're not married yet, the wedding is 11/5. It went from being a low profile courthouse wedding with a dress from a bridal sample sale and my fiance wearing a nice suit to this almost over-the-top courthouse wedding with a very pricey dress, a tux rental, wedding invitations, a limo, lunch at a nice restaurant and an expensive 2 tier wedding cake.
My mom made me feel bad because I was apparently robbing her of "the experience" so I let her take over all the planning, I know she just wants this to be a day we'll remember but there's so much ####### to think about and it's stressing me out. This is what I was trying to avoid! We had the idea that we were going to do 2 weddings in the beginning but I refuse to go through all this ridiculousness a second time, nope nope nope.
Sorry for the mini life story!

Hi there! I filled in the information of the Amsterdam consulate, except for the contact person, which I didn't know. Left that line blank. The gemeente said the accompanying letter from the USCIS that I printed and gave them was enough evidence that the consulate was really requesting my police certificate.
    Good luck!

Last communication i got was that the visa had left NVC, that was back in the beginning of August. My Fiance filed DS 160, and we waited and waited for packet 3 to arrive. i finally emailed the US consulate in Sydney only to hear back that packet 3 supposedly had been emailed to me ( the petitioner) back in Aug with an interview date for Sept that had come and gone. Total shock and horror ensued at that news. My fiance now has another interview date set for next week, but since he never got packet 3 with plenty of time and instructions he will be heading off to interview w/o his police clearance complete. The consulate had a correct email for me, but i never received anything, and besides we always thought that my fiance would get the instructions, not me.
Moral of the story, if you think there is a problem be proactive and contact the embassy or consulate. The worst they can tell you is to wait.
So VJ people, fingers crossed his interview is on 10/14/14.

This is going to be my last day all alone...
We were stuck in AP for 33 days due to a silly mistake my fiance made, and after he sent in the required document the consulate sent him a new 221G requesting something else, talk about torture! My fiance got his visa in hand this past Monday. I'm going to drive to Toronto to pick him up tomorrow and we'll head back together on Sunday. After 9 years it's finally happening, finally!!
