VJ wasn't like that when I was a newbie. In a way, this site has become a victim of its own success. With too many posters comes too much noise, and with too much noise, anything good and helpful tends to get drowned out.
Good luck with your visajourney. Grow a thick skin, and learn to wade through the ѕhit to find the gold. It's still there, ya just gotta look harder (and longer) now than I ever did.

This is also why I have a problem with the burkha. Anyone on that level of fanaticism should not be in a western country.

Interesting. Now that you've established that a man lying face down in a prone position with a half dozen cops surrounding him is not "restrained", I guess the head-kicking is perfectly fine.
    Marvellous.

I believe this is true. I also believe that the majority of non-devout people would prefer to be with someone who was similarly non-devout. When you're not devout like me, being around a chirpy religious type 24/7 can be grating.

Yeah. This is pretty messed up.
If nicking females genitals is what is needed to build trust between certain immigrants and hospitals, I'd daresay that's precisely the kind of immigrants we could probably do without.

That's not the point. What I find inexcusable is to send kids wearing shirts with our nation's flag home while tolerating kids wearing flags of a neighboring country. There's no justification for that. Nor is there any justification for the display of our flag on our soil to raise any potential for violence. If there are indeed kids in our schools that are offended by our nation's flag, then perhaps they ought to go to schools on different soils where our flag isn't displayed.
Wanna see a Mexican flag in school? Try a school in Mexico.

I think what gets forgotten, at least in OT is that while it is true, this is an immigration forum to help one legally navigate entry into the US, which is what everyone supports - this is not a forum simply for Americans or English native speakers - America is multicultural with many faceted influences and with that in mind, it is very important for everyone to feel that they have equal access to this information without feeling that there is an underlying climate of prejudice against a particular demographic or ethnicity.

Frequently, a thread is closed and only the personal attacks part is addressed, and not the racism. That gives the appearance of a complicit moderating team.

Rogue churches like that helped me understand Al Qaeda's mindset better. Much in the same way, these people establish their own so-called church and then use it to push their agenda. No mainstream religious denominations do not support that sort of idiocy. Yet, they are group together with them.

They had a very similar problem here in L.A.. There was plenty of commerce in Downtown L.A., but without a viable residential population, they weren't going to be able to bring a wider range of business and revitalize it. It was as if the clock would strike 7 p.m. and everyone would GTFO out. It was a ghost town with only homeless people it seemed. There were no bars, no places to hang out, or have meals.
So, they began handing out permits left and right and the apartments started going up. It went from a very bohemian loft type of area to overpriced luxury apartments. It worked though, enough people bought them, and now there is a night life and you see a lot more diversity in business.

At times it was ugly. But for the most part, it was a far more interesting place to be. It was easier to learn about other cultures when they weren't each hidden away in their own little corner.
The problem (IMO)is an ####### is an #######, whether they are in OT, or a Regional Forum, or in the so-called Upper Forums. Bad behavior simply should be quashed. There should be zero tolerance for racist, xenophobic, or any other "us versus them" behaviors.

Rampant anti-Muslim bias was the impetus for MENA. Once you create MENA, you can't very well not create the others.

That is why the racism that is so prevalent among some of our posters is so extremely harmful to this site.
