  2. In my opinion you have plenty of evidence to show USCIS . Your evidence looks great.  I don't think  not having her name on your bank account in the first year of your marriage will be an issue since you have other important financial proof that shows you are a couple in a real relationship and co-mingling.

I dont think it is necessary to change her maiden name  on her passport but just for peace of mind  you can always go to the nearest Philippine embassy where it has a jurisdiction over the city you were married to change it to your last name.  Oh you need to have a register of marriage (ROM) required for this for the Philippine embassy to change the name. If you cannot change her passport name right now  get an official letter from the Philippine embassy to verify the AKA (also known as) of your wife's name she is using now and maiden name on her passport are same person.  We did the latter on my wife because we moved to a different state after marriage.  The current Phil. embassy of our state  cannot change my wife's maiden name to my last name.. only way is to fly to the state we got married, visit the Philippine embassy overseeing that state and do the passport name change as I had difficulty just doing the name change via mailing documents to the previous Phil. embassy.

  3. Just added my wife's timeline on the list.

thanks for the response. the questions I posted above regarding the philippine immigration officer was when your wife left the Philippines. when she left the Philippines to come back in the US and went through philippine immigration, what documents did the philippine immigration officer asked her? thanks in advance.

The officer did not ask her anything nor look at her expired green card or the I 751 letter.  The officer just  stamped her Philippine passport for the departure date and wrote the Airline on the passport.

thanks for the response. sounds like the airlines probably have a list of documents needed for permanent residents. did the philippine immigration officer knew of the travel documents for permanent resident travelling with expired green card? or did they have questions about it? thanks in advance.

The Philippine immigration officer never asked for the green card.  He just stamped my wife's passport and wrote the carrier's name as well as the arrival date. No other question was asked.

Would like to gather information specifically for those who have experience going to the philippines and back travelling with expired green card and extension letter. are the airlines, specifically asiana airlines, well aware of the travel documents for conditional permanent residents with expired green card and extension letter? just wondering. green card expired 1/2018. applied for ROC october 2017. trip will be in august 2018.

We went home to the Philippines last December 2017 via Cathay Pacific AIrlines without any issues using the extension letter. I am assuming that Asiana will be ok with it but check with the carrier just in case.  Bring  the original letter as well as the expired green card with you.  I don't know if it was a standard but when we came back home to the USA via San Francisco International Airport, my wife had to go for a second screening to verify her  immigration status in the US.

submitted on May 24th, credit card charged on the same day, NOA 24th, waiting for the biometrics. Local office is San Francisco.

Is there anyone also with I751 pending? I got an info pass appointment for a passport stamp on June 8th, are they going to take my GC? If so, is there any impact on my N400 application?

    Thanks!

My wife's I751 is still pending and hers has taken over a year now.  We filed the N400 back on May 10th.  We did an infopass May 3 at the  local San Jose Calif USCIS office and the lady who stamped her passport for the I551 did not take her conditional GC. I dont think if they take the GC card will impact the N400 provided you filed it within the 90 day window of being married to a US citizen for the last 3 years since the I751 still pending.

  9. I was trying to gather all our paperwork for my wife's future citizenship interview.  However I was alarmed that I cannot find my original naturalization certificate. I became naturalized back in 2005.  My question is can I use my US passports as a proof of my citizenship or should I obtain a replacement of the certificate?  RIght now processing time for the N565 (replacement certificate) is between to 9 - 11 months!  I would think that if there will be an interview for the citizenship it will be soon as my wife's biometrics is scheduled May 30.  My first US passport was issued 2007 and expired last year and the current passport was issued last year for renewal.  Can I just bring both of these during the interview to show citizenship?  FYI my wife's citizenship application is based on 3 years marriage to a US citizen.  Any input is appreciated.

  10. My wife us a CSC filer  for removal of condition.  After we had her passport  stamped with the I 551 last week at our local USCSI office (San Jose, CA)my wife applied for N400 on May 10 ,2018 via Online application. Notice date May 10 per document uploaded on her file.  Today her biometrics has been scheduled for May 30.2018. Got the letter uploaded on her doc files online.  I hope this will be faster than the pending I 751.

    hey guys,

    i just realized something.

My passport is in my maiden name and my green card is in my married name. I never have a problem when traveling but i wonder if it'll be an issue when they put the extension stamp on it. anyone hear about anything like this?

I want to know too.  I just scheduled my wife for an infopass in two weeks to have her passport stamp the extension.  Just to be sure,  I am bringing with us an official AKA letter from our embassy showing that her name on the passport and the I751 are of the same person.

  12. If you have a copy of paperwork for AOS you submitted, bring them with you. The officer may or may not ask. We brought ours during our interview just in case but nothing was asked. Also we were surprised that the interviewing officer asked for pictures of us together in the Philippines prior to our marriage . Fortunately I brought our album with pics of me and my then fiancee (now wife) together when I was visiting her in the Phil. He took a couple of these pics . He also asked us how we communicated during our LDR years. We told him that Facebook was our primary communication tool. He had us log in online in front of him and showed him our chats during those years . Yes bring what ever is asked on the letter. Also bring pics and documents from the K1 just to cover your bases. You may never know what the interviewing officer will ask. Good luck!

Quick question about the requirements for the interview.

Do we still need the affidavit of support form i-864 when we already submitted it? Do we need form i-693? We already submitted that too.

  13. I want to thank this forum for all the wonderful advices that has guided me and my wife from K1 to her adjustment of status to a permanent resident. It has been two years since we started this whole process... definitely a lot of patience involve. To all of you still waiting, just hang in there and your turn will come.

After we got married in April of last year, we didn't file for the adjustment immediately since I had a job offer that needed us to move from the East Coast to the West Coast. I was worried that her I-94 expired when we filed for green card this year ( I-94 was only good until June of 2014) would generate some issues. However it was a non issue at all from the application state to the interview. Never did the interviewing officer brought up why she was out of status all this time.

The only snag that we encountered during the application phase was an RFE. It was such a silly one since on the I-864 form I missed to put a decimal point on my annual income. Whoever reviewed our file thought that my income was below the set poverty level and I need additional proof of assests , paystubs or a joint sponsorship. The person didn't even bother looking at the ITR and the W-2 forms that came with the application. This delayed the processing for about 3 weeks.

The interview was done at the local USCIS office. Our interview was set at 12:50 p.m. We arrived early and waited for an hour before we were called in. Before the officer started the interview , he had us raised our right hands and take an oath to tell the truth. After that, he asked for our ID's and passport, birth and marriage certificate. He asked my wife for her name, where she lives and asked husband's name and where I live. Then he asked where, when and how we met. When he found out we used Facebook as our major means of conversation during our LDR days, he asked either one of us to show proof of it on Facebook. Lol ,we had thousands of chats and my wife probably has changed her account a few times that I had to look for the right account. It would have been easier if I took with me the chat logs that I printed prior to my wife's interview at the US embassy in Manila. However I was not expecting that he would go back and look at proof of our relationship prior to getting married.

While I was searching on our chat logs on FB, he asked If I can give him any other proof of our relationship. I gave him our bank account with the verification letter from BOFA of our joint account, our lease agreement from current and previous house we were living at, medical and dental insurance plan showing me and my wife and my work verification letter. He then asked us for any pictures. I took our album with closed to 300 pics in it. He took a few pictures from it and ask us if he can keep it. He also asked if we had any pics of us in the Philippines. Thank God I brought with me the album with pics of us during my visit there. He was interested in pics showing me and her with our families and/or friends together.

After I showed him the FB chat , he asked my wife the typical questions if she committed any crime, member of a terrorist group etc. He had her sign a form of the interview . Then he explained that after two years , the conditional GC will be lifted by applying for the removal of the conditional to permanent resident. He ask us if we have any questions. I asked him since we are already married for more that a year , does that mean the conditional can be remove by next year ? He said NO. The conditional counts from the day the green card is issued. After that he gave us a piece of paper and he said at the moment he cannot tell us if we are approve or not approve. He said he does this to all the people he interviews. He said wait until we receive a decision in the mail.

This morning I checked the USCIS case status and it has changed to : On July 22, 2015, we registered your permanent resident status and mailed you a Welcome Notice for Receipt Number XXXXXXXXX . Please follow the instructions in the notice. Your new permanent resident card should arrive by September 20, 2015, after this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. Praise God for this wonderful news.

  14. I agree with what Tahoma said. Although it is not required and your miles may vary, front loading especially when going thru Manila embassy will be the safest bet. When my wife (my fiancee then) was interviewed at the embassy ( I accompanied her and can here the questions), the consul asked questions based on what I sent them on the initial 129F.

  15. Congrats to you too!

My fiance still has to get the CFO sticker, she already has the certificate so we will try to get it the day before the flight.

I am flying over so I can fly back with her on Good Friday so I hope the CFO office is open on thursday (maundy thursday)

going to call the CFO office today and find outgood luck to you!

After we picked up my fiancee Pp with the package at 2go, we went directly to the CFO office at around 2 pm. Took about one hour just to get the sticker since there was a que when we got there. Total time did not include traffic getting there and going to our destination. Manila traffic is horrible. Lucky for us that my cousin drove us to the CFO office and he knew the traffic flow in Metro Manila. This was at the end of Feb of this year so I dont know how the trafific at this time so give yourself plenty of time.

  16. YEs its approved by american consul.and there is NO documents asked..i choose delivery then my status in CEAC is now ISSUED. so maybe only few step i will get it ,,,i wish i will receive it soon thank you so much for your answer god bless

We opted for pickup at the 2Go office Mall of Asia. From the time it was posted at CEAC as ISSUED it took 2 business days . track it at 2GO site. You will have it soon. Congrats !?

  17. As already been said the USCIS stage (I129f) only requires that you met your fiancee within the last 2 years. The proof of ongoing relationship will be needed more towards the interview phase. My experienced may or may not be applicable with yours since no two cases are alike. When I filed for my fiancee K1 visa I did include proof of ongoing relationship since I was filing at a high fraud embassy and have some potential red flags. I submitted photos, relevant facebook and skype chats , plane boarding passes for the travel we made together, receipt and photos of Valentine gift I sent her and a few email. I was present during my fiancee's interview and witness how the consul did not even bother asked for any evidences that we brought at the embassy . All he did was look at the original documents / proof I submitted and asked my fiancee a few questions from those. No photos or chat logs were asked. I guess he was satisfied what I submitted during the 129f phase. YMMV!
