Well this is an upsetting reason to be ending my hiatus.
 
I know there is a lot of misinformation in the earlier posts in this thread but hopefully people are caught up in understanding that YES even LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENTS are being turned away at this point. I have clients who I know personally who are getting caught up in this and am advising certain others, even from countries not currently on the ban list but have contention surrounding them, to be mindful about leaving the U.S. with the new administration since things can turn on a dime over night. 
 
A number of people disagreed with me in the original Trump thread and were convinced that any changes would take time and congressional cooperation. I hope that at least what comes out if this is people wake up and realize how serious this is...

So there is hope... unless Trump does what he is wanting to do and actually bans Muslims (the law does not protect discrimination based on religion). I would put nothing past this guy...

one step at a time... immediate issue were the people left stranded. Lets hope our legal system comes through for people who have gone through vetting and legal processes to obtain their visas. Banning GC holders is mind boggling.

You are correct. I would get her back ASAP. There is no trusting what will happen tomorrow.

Even if it's only ever limited to these 7 countries, these are people who LIVE HERE! Imagine one day you come home and some government agent is outside and won't let you in. He won't let you go to work either. You have to leave. Just because. Now where do you go? You probably tied up loose ends back home. Maybe if your parents are alive they'll take you in?
 
I don't ever expect the UK will get the brunt of this but I still feel absolutely enraged for our Middle Eastern friends who are caught up in this absolute BS.

I'm hoping all the people on here insisting we had nothing to worry about since Trump was only going to go after "illegals" are finally starting to see the truth.
