  1. Hi!

I have been looking for answers for a while.

I received my 10yr GC after divorce on waiver - I did not have any issues.

Citizenship Interview was very easy and everything went smoothly.

What should I do with evidence? I am thinking to keep the forms, but things like bank statements, phots, tickets, mail... do you guys keep it or is it safe to get rid of?

What are the chances that my citizenship will be taken away when I did everything the right way?

    Thanks

Hi, thanks for your reply! I am still waiting for the Appointment letter but in the meantime I am collecting the documents following the suggestions I read online. I didn’t owe anything  so I can just bring the tax transcripts I already have, just in case! Thanks again!

Just wait for the letter and bring what they ask for. Don't waste your time and effort.

And if they ask for anything extra you can easily back yourself up. They already have everything that you sent to them. Bring only copies of things that changed overtime which is for example: you changed a job since you sent paperwork - then bring paystubs etc.

  3. Hello!

I just got out of interview and I hope I can help.

Long story short: I came on K-1 visa, got married, got green card, divorced before 2 year period, applied for 10 year green card with waiver, got GC in mail after 8 month without an interview.

Citizenship interview: 2 female officers, one was very focused on her work, said lines so fast without any emotional emphasis, the second one was more friendly and chatty. First lady was focused on data entry on computer and making sure every box is checked while I answered questions and chatted with the other lady.

Easy: fingerprints and quick photo, 6 questions from the booklet about government (6, because I answered all of them correctly), question about taxes - do I fill them every year and do I owe anything to IRS.

Marriage questions: ex-spouse DOB, place of birth, date of marriage, date of divorce, how we met, dates when he visited me, did my family meet him, were we separated and did we live together during divorce processing. How long did it take to the divorce to be completed.

Oh, also they asked about my trips out of us, what was the reason/purpose.

They asked about my work, my unemployment and my new work. Honestly, they did not give a damn if I am a doctor, web developer or a server, or house cleaner - as long as I make money and pay taxes.

THIS INTERVIEW WAS JUST FORMALITY TO CHECK IF MY ANSWERS MATCH PAPERWORK.

That's all. They had all my file on the desk, in front of me. All 5 years of paperwork.

I took all the documents they asked for in the letter. You will get the letter in your NOA. I took extra stuff but they didn't ask. When you go to interview and let's say change job - take a few paystubs or something so you can tell them address or proe employment. Same if you move. They did not ask me for any papers though. Only ID and GC.

Let me know if I can answer anything more.

  4. Hi guys. I'm wondering how it works.

I came in k1 visa, got aid, divorced and I got 10 year gc through waiver. My ex signed i-864a p4omising that he will support me for 40 quarters or until I get citizenship.

After divorce, am I allowed to just ask him for monthly money because I am struggling? Do I have to do it some specific way? Or should I try just asking him. I don't want to go too far.

How does it legally look like based on i-864a?

    Thank you.

Congratulations! It was a long jurney for you, but luckily is over. Enjoy your gc and your vacation :)

  6. Are you legally separated? Are you going thrugh divorce? I think if the answer is "no" to any if those questions, just change your address with them as always and if they call for interview you should go with him and I think pretend nothing bad happned. But it depends how much he want to help you... if you guys not together then idk.. fill out wiaver and wait till your divirce is final. Yuli get rfe when you'll submit the divirce paper.

  7. Really? Wow that's insane. It varies case by case.. but really does it take this long to go thrugh case... it must be lost somehwere..

I got gc in mail today. End of journey. Will do citizenship in 3 years. When i think about it, it will be another 3 years since I'm here, but it will be fine. I jist think how much might change over the time wow. Good luck everybody, I hope those who are still waiting will be approved..

  8. Lullaby, yes they told me the same. They said, you got extension for 1 year so the process might take 9-12 months. I had a friend in seattle, she was normal case and also was waiting 9 months already. Unfortunately, j lost contact and don't know what hope ned with her. Also I have a friend who filed 2 months before me, normal case and she got rfe after 6 months and then just after she sent response she got gc... they are busy. I think they try hard, maybe they sort it alphabetical way and that's why? My last name is S maybe that matters? Imagine they have files segregated by months and then segregated with last name order. Let's do test, any far alphabetical letters got approved already? Haha

  9. Yeah, yoir case seems much more complicated. I had Nirmal waiver. I'd is cheating, lying and kicking out from the house to live on street is abuse, I didn't consider it abuse.. albo I didn't have THAT much evidence of this. Plus kick out was not directly from him but his family but also he didn't do anything about it. I just hope they won't tell that I put it in wrong cathegory heh

  10. AnnaMatt that can't be, when I całe the officer told me that wiaver or normal case doesn't matter. I asked my case is waiver, will it jave affect on waiting time, will it take longer etc. And she said no it doesn't matter. But! I do remeber my lawer, she said that with the new rules that were applied I think on 2014 or 2015 now they are few officers who will read the case and if one thinks there I smth not right they will call for interview. So maybe it will take freaking 10 months heh. Though life. Heh makes more sense, I'm just angry I wasted my time calling officer and she told me some bs. Same customer service told me bs as well.
